Sony is giving US PS3 gamers the opportunity to get hands-on with Warhawk this month in a public beta set to kick off on May 24 - however, it's not currently clear whether the beta will be accessible overseas.

Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Jack Tretton has admitted that the PS3's high price poses "a challenge" - but observed that the content available for the console will help to justify the cost.
He said that 2007 would be the year that video game makers will deliver the must-have titles, including 15 exclusives, needed to drive sales of the PS3. He added that it also took time for developers to turn out blockbuster games for the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 -- which dominated their respective console cycles.
The PS3 exclusives include "Warhawk," dragon-combat title "Lair," and Sony's newly released baseball game "MLB: The Show."

According to the dutch website PS3 Only, the (European) bètatrial of Warhawk will start on June 21st. PS3 Only got this information of an anonymous yet reliable source.
This will be a closed bèta and will only be available for the bèta testers. It is still unknown if there will be an open bèta.

It appears that if Incognito has its way, there'll be an opportunity to play its PS3 game Warhawk before full release via an open beta and a demo.

As positive buzz continues to build, most people seem to have gotten over the fact that Warhawk won't have any single-player content when it's released later this year.
Sony previously told 1UP the game will be distributed as a retail release and PlayStation Network download. What about before then? Now, the developer's are saying gamers will most likely have a chance to check the game out before it's finished. Speaking to Game Informer, Incognito Game Director Dylan Jobe teased future plans:

We firmly believe that we want to get feedback from our players and we want to give them the opportunity for them to play the game, because we're really excited about how word of mouth can really help our title. As more and more favorable impressions are lumped on Warhawk, many have accepted the game's multiplayer focus and becoming more interested in when and how they can get their hands on the update to the PS One classic. Rumors had indicated Warhawk would become a PlayStation Network-only download, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
1UP recently contacted Sony Computer Entertainment America for clarification, who said Warhawk will be available on Blu-ray and through the PlayStation Network. Whether there will be differences in price or content (i.e. the downloadable version being more stripped down, with more option to purchase new content) between the two has not been announced.

If you visit the Gaming portion of the Blu-Ray website, you'll actually see a nice description of one of the things that makes the Blu-Ray a potential winner in the households: games. The problem arises when you take a look at the latter portion of their write-up.
They list a bunch of titles which they say are CURRENTLY available for the PlayStation 3. None of those games are on disc, unless you count the handful of unfinished copies being made by different production companies as we speak. They also mention Tekken PS3, which could also refer to the PlayStation Store version of Tekken or the unreleased Tekken 6. The Sony team made waves last week when it announced that its flight-based actioner Warhawk would be playable only as an online experience. This lack of single-player support became an immediate point of speculation for Internet folk, who debated furiously as to whether or not this meant that the game would be downloadable from the PS Store file or available on a Blu-ray disc.

Speaking to a gathering of bloggers, Jobe revealed that developer Incog and Sony were having internal discussions about having a public beta for Warhawk.
