PS3 Preview | Virtua Tennis 3
Exactly what does physics mean to you? Sleep? Bearded old men? Hieroglyphic formulas? Fair enough. But its really, really important in games with balls. Honestly, it is - thats why Winning Eleven Soccers so brilliant, why the FIFA games are suddenly not shit and why the Virtua Tennis games work so well. The simple bounce of a tennis ball and the way it moves through the air got nailed with Virtua Tennis 2, to such an extent that it doesnt need fiddling with. That, and the accessible, yet ... » Read More

5. The gameplay is a "smash" hit It's a bold statement, but Virtua Tennis 3 could be the most accurate sports sim you'll play. From delicate drop shots and powerful smashes to the way the momentum acts perfectly on different surfaces, VT3 feels superb so ... » Read More

PS3 Preview | Virtua Tennis 3
We love Virtua Tennis. Its colorful blend of arcade smashery and addictive gameplay caught our attention immediately and each successive update has only enhanced the appeal. Now Virtua Tennis 3 is heading out on to the next-gen court later this year, and so we've picked up our racquets for the PS3 build to see what Sega can do. Unsurprisingly, Virtua Tennis on PS3 looks so sharp it's a wonder your eyeballs aren't left in two cleanly hewn pieces. What we like most of all are the crisp, glowing ... » Read More

PS3 Preview | Virtua Tennis 3
We've been waiting for this one a very long time. Virtua Tennis and its sequel defined the racquet genre, giving us more multiplayer fun than the real thing could ever offer - and without the need for physical exertion. Virtua Tennis 3, you'll be happy to know, gives to players even more generously than Sharapova gives to grunt fetishists. The game was running at TGS in full progressive mode - polystyrene labels taped to the Sony monitors confirmed 'Full 1080p, 60FPS' by way of a great boast - ... » Read More

PS3 Preview | Virtua Tennis 3
Wednesday 10 May 2006 While gamers are queuing up to sample tennis Wii style over at Nintendo's stand, the jostlers hugging Sony's PS3 pods will find an altogether more familiar virtual take on the racquet-wielding sport in the form of Sega's Virtua Tennis 3. Apparently only 30% complete, it's no surprise that the E3 demo only offers a men's singles game with two players - Taylor Dent and Tommy Haas - and two different courts to try out. Yet despite the game's far from finished state, this is ... » Read More

PS3 Preview | Virtua Tennis 3
In the Sony booth, Sega debuted a playable version of Virtua Tennis 3 for the PS3 (it's also due for the Xbox 360.) The game, which has arcade-style, simple-to-understand play, has been a favorite of gamers who like a realistic but fun game of tennis. It really shines in multiplayer. Unfortunately, the demo was for one player only, and was limited to a simple single match. While we can't see the full list of tennis pros Sega plans to include, we were able to scope how detailed and realistic ... » Read More
