A new magazine ad for Virtua Fighter 5 makes the differences between the two versions of the game (PS3 and Xbox360) very clear, stating that the Xbox360 version is NOW ONLINE, but the PS3 version Does Not Include Online Play. This promotes purchase on one console only...interesting advertising.

Xbox 360 owners rejoiced when Sega and AM2 announced that their version of Virtua Fighter 5 would incorporate long desired online multiplayer features, but PlayStation 3 gamers who'd picked up the game earlier in the year felt left in the cold. A Games Convention 2007 interview with AM2 Assistant Manager Tohru Murayama at Total Video Games, however, provides hope for the future. Murayama acknowledged that PS3 owners are disappointed and suggested there was no doubt AM2 could theoretically release a patch to add online multiplayer features to the PS3 version.

Eurogamer has learned that the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 may not be released in Japan due to the console's low installed base. Speaking at last week's Leipzig Games Convention, lead designer Tohru Murayama said it's true that 360 has not proved too popular with Japanese gamers. He continued, We haven't decided if we'll release Virtua Fighter 5 [on 360] in Japan because of that.

This morning, Sega has also unveiled it's Games Convention Lineup for this month, with less than three weeks away from the event, gaming publishers have been showing their line up of titles that will be present at LGC in Germany this month. They will be showing the online version of Virtua fighter 5 for the X360 for the first time along with other surprises and guests.
Some games truly evolve. Prince of Persia, for instance, is now a million miles from where it started. So too, Sonic the Hedgehog and even Mario. Over the last ten years, these games have either changed direction totally, or shaken up the basic gameplay elements and crafted a similar yet far-removed experience. Some other games... haven't.
These are the games that refuse to change. Like Dick Clark, they look the same as they always did. Like Friends, they found a formula that worked and stuck
