Epic Games has great news for mod developers: Custom sounds can now be imported for Unreal Tournament 3 mods for PLAYSTATION3 using Epic Games' ATRAC3 mod tools, which are free of charge and available now.
Previously, custom sounds for Unreal Tournament 3 mods have only been supported for PC. Thanks to cooperation with Sony, Epic Games is able to offer its QA-tested and approved PS3 sound conversion tools to mod authors.

Some of the best Unreal Tournament level designers from around the world have returned for the fourth Community Bonus Pack installment, now available to download.
Since CBP1 for Unreal Tournament 2003, the CBP has been known for its professional-quality content that is considered an essential addition to any UT install.
The pack features 11 new maps (4 DM, 5 DOM, 1 CTF, 1 WAR) and two new pickups. It also includes the Domination gametype.

Clans who can test the PC version. You must be able to organize a match with another clan some time in the next week, and be comfortable playing all gametypes. Please don't ask to test the PC version unless you are the leader of a clan.

TAWKN.com is reporting that the 2.00 patch for Unreal Tournament 3 is live on the PlayStation Network. This is the patch that is supposed to include a lot of new stuff, including trophies, split-screen, and the in-game mod browser, amongst other goodies.
The patch was supposed to be delayed until March 19th, but it is up right now.

Talk Playstation.com writes:"It seems that an update is now available for the Playstation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3. Load up the game and you should be prompted to download the update.
This update contains around 48 trophies, splitscreen play and a new menu. According to my source, the update weighs in at around 112MB."

The 2009 D.I.C.E. summit is going down this week in the always wonderful Las Vegas, and it is here that Epic Games announced the winners of Phase 2 of the $1 Million Intel Make Something Real Contest. The way it works is simple: make the best mods for Unreal Tournament III and get a ton of cash. In this portion of the contest, $70,000 in prizes have been rewarded to mod makers who place in the categories.
These mods will be showcased next month at the 2009 Game Developers Conference. And that's a big deal if you think about it, as people that make these mods often get promoted to making games.

The Unreal Tournament III mods responsible for making over 160 modded maps, bringing game characters Master Chief and Mark Phoenix to UT III, and restoring the world-famous Bombing Run for the PC and PS3 have made themselves at home on the Playstation 3 console by making a clubhouse open for both mods and fans of Unreal Tournament III. The manifesto on their website is as follows:
"December 11, 2008 Playstation Home Beta will go live. Just restart your PS3 and you will see the PlayStation Home icon under the PlayStation Network icon. Playstation Home is a unique experience that allows PS3 users to interact and unite in a virtual world. UT3MOD.COM will have its own Clubhouse within Home that allows fans of Unreal Tournament 3 and UT3MOD.COM to get together. Legendary Pictures, the film production company that is currently co-financing the Gears of War film adaption, is currently in talks to buy Gears developer Epic Games, according to Variety.
The report has apparently been corroborated by multiple sources, though neither company involved has issued any official statements.
Variety notes that if the deal closes, Legendary will become the first film financier to invest directly in a game developer.

NVIDIA today released the Unreal Tournament 3 NVIDIA PhysX Mod Pack which includes three maps. Make sure to enable "Hardware Physics" under Video Settings in the UT3 settings. Driver release v177.39 or later is required for GPU PhysX hardware acceleration. This pack requires a PhysX-enabled card or a NVIDIA Series 8 graphics card (minimum).
