PS3 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Kotaku: Uncharted Impressions, and 2 Videos Brian Crecente of Kotaku.com said,

"When the developers first showed off Uncharted: Drake's Fortune I wasn't impressed. Naughty Dog was going for that realistic look in their characters and they were suffering from some major uncanny valley. Worse still, the play had that generic shooter look to it, like some amalgam of every third-person shooter I've played in the past five years. There was duck-and-cover, there were lush jungle environments, there were melee attacks. I was sure I wasn't going to like it."

"I was wrong."

"Of all of the games at the show, it was the one I ended up spending the most time on, That's not to say it was the best, but it certainly had me jonesing for more. The game still has its issues with the uncanny valley, but Naughty Dog did a really good job of balancing fast-paced shooter action with a variety of light puzzles and a bit of stealth. The aiming took a little bit of getting used to, but in general it was response and the AI was pretty tight.

Some things I hope the devs fix include the in ability to shoot someone in the head and put them down, that's a HUGE pet peeve of mine. In one section I knocked three guys to the ground with snap headshots and turned to deal with their pals only to be ambushed by what should have been debrained corpses. Some of the animation also has to be smoothed out a bit, though his strange gimpy jump (like he was running up a couple of invisible steps) was more humorous then disconcerting."

OVERVIEW From Kotaku,

"Developed by the studio that brought blockbuster hit franchises Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter® to PlayStation fans, Naughty Dog Inc.'s, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the first game in a new fast-paced action-adventure franchise developed exclusively for the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) computer entertainment system.

Taking full advantage of the power of PS3, Unchart...

We really mean it, too - this new trailer for the jungle-crawling, fist-fighting action-tastic Uncharted: Drake's Fortune actually had us oohing and aahhing over its lush visuals and smooth acrobatics. Plus, we've finally got the official word on plot, with the lead fellow and his camera-obsessed lady friend hunting a mound of treasure once owned by the Spanish Conquistadors. Probably Hernan Cortes - he found all the best sparkly stuff. Anyways, on with the show. It's got combat, gun-shootery ... » Read More

PS3 News from N4G | Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
PS3 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Uncharted showing is just a Rumour A rumour was reported yesterday about Uncharted perhaps making a showing at Sony Gamer's Day. The rumour originated from B3d forums, from the lead character artist.

This is just a rumour. And to put this into context, they do not know when there will be gameplay footage of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, as this is all down to Sony's marketing. Richard Diament made this very clear in his posts, stating that although the marketing train had started for Uncharted, when or whether footage was to be shown is not in their hands.

Sony Gamer's Day was hinted at for exciting news on upcoming games from Sony, but whether there will be footage of Uncharted is unknown.

All we have for now is this trailer using the ingame engine in 2005.

PS3 - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Cool New Details About Naughty Dog and Drake's Fortune The recently not-so-secret Naughty Dog title for the PS3: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has come up on the latest issue of Game Informer. Here's what the folks at the NeoGAF forums have discerned from the article.

* Winter '07 release
* Single-player, apparently
* So far, 50 minutes of cinematics (GI said that the game's presentation actually makes the PS3's price not as difficult to understand... or... something. It's impressive, they say)
* Animation scheme allows for unique ways of doing things -- an example used was for taking cover behind a pillar. There were nine screenshots of Drake hiding behind the same pillar, each time in a completely different stance. The final game is said to have 3,000 animation modifications for doing such actions.
* SIXAXIS allows for balancing stuff, like crossing a narrow log or whatever
* Drake will visibly grow tired when running, shown in his running animation and facial features. How neat, I grow visibly tired from running too!
* Soundtrack, graphics, special effects... all are looking insanely gorgeous.
