Bungie's Halo 3 took top Game of the Year honors during the G-Phoria awards last night, broadcast by game-oriented cable television network G4.

Xbox 360 was named the station's favorite system -- which falls in line with the award distribution. Of the show's 18 game awards, only four went to titles not available on Microsoft's system: Best Graphics and Best Voice Acting for Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Best Racing Game for Nintendo EAD's Mario Kart Wii, and, by default, Best Handheld Game for Ready at Dawn's God of War: Chains of Olympus.

Next-Gen.Biz writes: "The Propaganda Games-developed sci-fi dino blaster Turok has shipped over 1 million units worldwide, according to publisher Touchstone.

The first-person shooter, based on the Turok franchise that debuted in 1997, launched on February 5 this year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Touchstone also announced that it will be releasing five new multiplayer maps on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on March 27. The content, dubbed the Velociraptor Pack, will cost 400 Microsoft Points ($5) on Xbox Live or $4.99 on PlayStation Store."

Turok Multiplayer Maps Coming Soon; Game With Developers Today (News)

New multiplayer maps will be coming soon for Turok. Originally announced for release on the Xbox Live Marketplace yesterday, it looks like the maps are currently undergoing certification but should be available very soon. Desolation, Sentinel, Inconclusive Tests and A Rivalry Continues are the new multiplayer maps. There's also a new co-op map. The map pack will go for 400 Microsoft Points ($5). Watch for it on the PlayStation Network as well, scheduled for release tomorrow on March 27, 2008, also for $5.

Xbox accounts for 61 per cent of units sold in UK.

The latest title in the former Sony exclusive franchise Devil May Cry has debuted in the UK's All Formats charts at number one, with the lion's share of sales on the Xbox 360.

Sixty one per cent of sales were on the Microsoft console, with the rest on Sony's PlayStation 3 and PC. The game is number one in the All Formats charts but also the individual format charts as well.

Can Someone Tell Touchstone Turok Came Out Three Days Ago? (News)

Kotaku has received quite a few emails this weekend from people saying they had picked up copies of Turok at their local stores. While it's not out of the ordinary for a game's street date to be broken by a single outlet, according to Best Buy, GameStop, GameCrazy and Wal-mart the game came out three days ago on Jan. 31. Apparently no one told this to the game's publisher, Touchstone. The official Turok website has a countdown clock that still has a little over two days left on it. The press materials and game websites like IGN and Gamespot also have it listed as a February 5th release. Is this a matter of a mass mistake on the retailers' part or is Touchstone being sneaky and letting the cat out of the bag early on purpose?

Jan 29, 2008 Edit: After being told the game was "4-5 hours long" during our preview time, we have been asked to clarify that the game is in fact 12-15 hours long, and are happy to do so. Turok Patch Will Remove Controversial Team-Kill Feature (News)

The controversial feature in the upcoming Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game Turok that rewards players for killing their teammates will be removed with a patch, says publisher Touchstone.

While Turok will ship with the "Grab Bag" achievement (or accomplishment) intact, the patch will be available online on February 5, the day the game hits store shelves.

The PlayStation 3 patch will also add support for rumble controllers like the upcoming Dual Shock 3 and for 1080i television displays.

Touchstone is banking on some big names to draw some attention to next year's reboot of the Turok franchise, hiring some A and B-list Hollywood talent to voice the characters of John Turok and the rest of Whiskey Company. The man himself is being played by Gregory Norman Cruz, who appears in Saving Grace as Bobby Stillwater, as well as various small Native and Latin American roles over the past three decades including Hill Street Blues (Chico) and Cop Rock (Tito). Rounding out Whiskey Company are Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood and the Hitman movie, Ron Perlman from Hellboy, Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block, Prison Break's William Fichter,Stargate's Chris Judge, Mark Rolston, Lombardo Boyar, Gideon Emery, Josh Gomez, Jon Curry, Jason Harris and Steve Van Wormer. Turok, the FPS that just loves to hate dinosaurs will be landing in stores for the Xbox 360 and PS3 September 17th.

Propaganda Games will be releasing a demo before shipping Turok, and promises that new life has been brought to the franchise. Graphics and atmosphere will be more pristine and filled with the 'wow factor' thanks to the Unreal Engine 3.

Propaganda has hinted at the possibility of dinosaurs having A.I. This means that the T-Rex coming at you will be extra frightening and much more than a looming beast with a pea-sized brain. Raptors, the worst of the lot, will be even more cunning and predatory than what we are used to in Turok games.

Multiplayer options for up to 16 people is new to the franchise, and players will not only have to contend with these roaming enemies wanting to frag them to bits, but add the raging reptiles into the mix and you have carnage to the extreme.

Turok's story takes place on a dreary and unknown planet in the future, where your character, John Turok is the member of a Special Forces squad charged with the mission to destroy his former mentor Roland Kane. Now a criminal, Kane lives on this genetically altered planet and has his own army waiting to blast you to bits. The storyline is reminiscent of Turok history, but the question on most fans minds is whether this game picks up where Turok: Shadow of Oblivion left off. It would be unfair to leave us wondering what happened after that memorable cliffhanger, and despite Acclaim going bankrupt and not finishing the storyline in a fourth installment Â¿ Propaganda should give fans what they want. We all hate an open ending, and here's hoping that this new chapter closes the book, or takes us along for one hell of a fun ride.
