Certainly, the situation appears to be much better than before and SCEE seem to be coming good on their promise that they would 'sort the situation out' by the Summer.

It would be a shame, therefore, to see a lacklustre update this week, wouldn't it?"

However, he did admit that there may be an initial hit, based on some crossover, although if so, it wouldn't last too long.

Ahead of March's NPD Group sales data, due to release this Thursday, Pachter forecast PS3 sales of 365,000 units, edging out sales of 310,000 for Xbox 360.

In a Monday investor note, Pachter predicted that Nintendo will come out on top for yet another month, with Wii sales of 700,000 during March's five-week retail period.

Apparently, the bugs that gamers have been experiencing with the PS3 version of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 are not confined to just the PS3 version. Many gamers have reported that they were unable to connect to servers, the game would freeze and require a restart, and many reports of connections being dropped caused Ubisoft to look into the issues.

Now, Xbox 360 users have noticed some issues with their version as well. Some of the bugs and glitches reported mostly occur when gamers try to carry data over from the original RSV which causes a gamerscore glitch, but issues regarding start-tracking have also been confirmed.
Ubisoft: Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 Patch in Development (News)

Ubisoft today confirmed on their community forums that a patch to fix the Private First Class achievement in Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is in development. The achievement doesn't unlock because players who have a Rainbow Six: Vegas (One) save file, receive a bonus which takes the total XP to a rank above Private First Class.

Ubisoft also said they are looking into reported online issues but those issues seem to be more PlayStation 3 based. No specific release date for the patch was announced but Ubisoft have said that "the connection issues have not been known for as long and will require more indepth research to establish what the issue is".

Over the weekend, many shooter fans were enjoying time with Ubisoft's recently released title Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. While those playing the Xbox 360 version had few problems, PlayStation 3 owners were left out in the cold: bugs, disconnection issues, freezing, and a wide variety of problems are marring the otherwise-strong multiplayer action in its PS3 form.

One GameFAQs reader sent a scathing email to Ubisoft only to get back a response from a customer service representative that the "issue is currently being worked on by the development team." An ETA was not given, but the rep noted that "it should not be long."
The thing is the code was printed on a sticker on the outside of the game. Better still it can be used by anyone who owns the game.

To unlock the gun go to the main menu of the game and do the following:

Game Stop's exclusive offer, a code to unlock the Comcast Optimized MLG map if you pre-order the game. You would think being exclusive there would be this one time longer then you want to enter code in the market place to unlock this map but the code is as simple as entering in "Comcast Faster" from the Main Menu from within the game. Not exclusive at all.

For the not so much Exclusive Code for the Best Buy offer for the Unlockable Assault Rifle is no more then a cheat code as follows: at the Main Menu (Hold RB) Down, Down, Up, Up, X, B, X, B, Y, Up, Up, Y

With just a few days to go until its release, we are already getting some bonus content for Rainbow Six Vegas 2. GameInvasion is hosting a special "Comcast Event Map" that can be downloaded from their site as soon as the game hits your PS3 or 360. No word on exactly what the map will contain, but I have to admit, the title has me scratching my head. "Comcast Event Map" dredges up some strange thoughts involving dicey connections, rude customer service and an On-Demand system that only works about 40% of the time. Let's hope this map involves none of these.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 leaves new boy, Bishop (your playable character) in a bit of a bind. As this game is part prequel, part sequel, part concurrent game, you’re never visiting the same parts of the city as you did in the first outing. And this is where Vegas 2’s first problem rears its ugly head. Until the fifth level - and these are big levels - you never get within 50 feet of a casino. Not a whiff of neon. Not a whisper of coins ...

Tom Bramwell of Eurogamer reports, Ubisoft's Rainbow Six series will be finished with Vegas as a location once the team completes work on Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

"We will never go back to Vegas - at least, not in the foreseeable future," designer Philippe Therien told Eurogamer at a recent preview event.

"We really feel that the story of Vegas is done. We've explored as much of Vegas as we wanted. For now, we're pretty much covered with Vegas."

Therien also admitted that he's not sure whether the game will continue to focus on a single place.

"The concept of being around one location was really good for Vegas, it really works," he said. "Whether we'll do that again, I don't know right now."
Although this is the second trip to the streets of Vegas, the games story actually plays out parallel to the last game. How does that work? As Bishop, youll be heading up a second team working alongside Logan Kellers, winding into the main story to work through the casinos, after playing out a bit of back story first while Logans team was busy in Mexico. Youll finish up after the events of the last game, wiping out Alvarez Cabrero - hopefully.

Goatee-sporting game designer Philippe Therien is filling us in on Rainbow Six: Vegas 2's reward system and character customizations in a video developer dairy - watch it now:

Aside from in-game footage, Therien talks about Ubisoft's sequel, including the story which will take you into the outskirts of Vegas this time around.

Squad-based action doesn't get any better than a good old Tom Clancy title. This holds true for even the latest addition to the Tom Clancy video game series with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

The video trailer of the game looks more like a movie rather than anything out of a next-gen console. You're sure to appreciate the highly detailed visuals the developers from Ubisoft Montreal have put into creating the realistic in-game environment effects.

Judging from the trailer, it definitely looks like the game will concentrate on the seedier side of Vegas as you and your squad will have to take on all manner of terrorist elements in this exciting sequel.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is slated to come out by March 11 this year and will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and the PS3. In the meantime, why not enjoy the trailer we have for the game below!

Destructoid voice their opinion:

"Scheduled to hit the PS3, 360, and PC next March, it doesn't look like Ubisoft's RSV 2 is set to offer many surprises. What we could have assumed: the game will contain an expanded multiplayer mode, as well as an expanded co-op experience; there would be new weapons and armor; and the game would take place in Las Vegas.

In a press release issued today, our the complete lack of surprises have been confirmed. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as Rainbow Six Vegas was more than a solid title, and one that offered a top-notch tactical multiplayer experience. On that front, Ubisoft are offering 13 new maps, two new adversarial modes, and an improved matchmaking system. Players will also be able to create their own identity, which they'll be able to use in both single-player and multiplayer modes; progress or rewards gained in the single-player game will be reflected in multiplayer, and vice versa.

Besides Ron Workman getting drunk in the Luxor and yelling at strangers about how Criss Angels "floated to the ceiling," I didn't realize Vegas had such a terrorist problem. You can find more fancy details about the game's improved AI and more in the press release."
Ubisoft's first Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 trailer has had gamers - including us - scratching heads in bemusement and saying, "WTF?"

We don't know what Ubisoft was thinking, but instead of giving us a good eyeball of the game, the publisher's put together a real-life clip that... well, just watch it for yourself and you'll see what we mean.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 was unveiled in November and is set to release next year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
- There will also be 2 new multiplayer modes.
- The Xbox Live part is also expanded with a new 'Search' function, for quicker results in match findings.
- You will also be able to join matches that have already started, so that you don't have to wait until the round is over for you to start.
- Ubisoft has also strongly modified the enemy A.I. for the singleplayer part.
- You will also be able to choose between a male or female character in the singleplayer. Plus you will be able to customize your character in lost of different parts and ways.
- The singleplayer portion is partly sequel and partly prequel.
- The framerate is much higher, which results in a smoother and better image.
- Planned for release in the US in March 2008.

Despite rumours to the contrary, it seems that Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will be coming to the PS3 next year.

According to the latest list of PAL release dates distributed by the French publisher (and published on Gamefront.de), Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has been listed as being down for release during Q1 2008, the same as the Xbox 360 version.

Rumours that the PS3 version had been delayed or even dropped started circulating last month after only the PC and 360 were mentioned on the game's product page on the Ubisoft website.

While the product page remains unaltered, given that Ubisoft has mentioned the PS3 version of its release schedule, it seems that PS3 fans haven't been forgotten after all.

On the official Ubisoft forums the UK Forum Manager has debunked yesterday's rumor that said that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is not coming to the PlayStation 3.

A forum member asked this: "Why is it only listed as 360 and PC? This is 4 PS3 as well right? Obviously that's the assumption since you're announcing it here. Could you confirm because the rumors are already flying that this is a 360/Windows exclusive."

UK Forum Manager ms-kleaneasy's answer is: "This weeks press release¿¿¿".

She quotes the whole press release in her reply putting emphasis on "announced that it is developing Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 for next-generation consoles and PC."
