Cambridge studio Frontier Developments has not cancelled production on The Outsider, its founder David Braben has told Develop. However, 17 workers at the group have been made redundant as Frontier rethinks its approach on developing the game.

Popular developer David Braben (Frontier's founder) was yesterday in London with his team, showing to the press the first playable version of Lost Winds sequel. When asked about other Frontier projects, the team told to spanish site 3DJuegos.com that they are currently working on three projects, being The Outsider one of those. We're still working on it, but we haven't more information to tell at the moment.

Legendary Elite co-creator and Frontier chief David Braben has intentionally gone quiet on upcoming multiplatform techno thriller The Outsider in order to prevent it from becoming old. Speaking to VideoGamer.com today during a Nintendo press event to promote WiiWare and DSiWare games, including Frontier's LostWinds sequel, Braben insisted he won't start talking about it again until the time is right. When asked for an update on the game, Braben replied: Oh it's very exciting. One of the problems with games, especially games with long development periods, is if you can talk about them all of the time it becomes old.

Gamasutra: LostWinds developer Frontier announced that it will augment its game audio capabilities to utilize Audiokinetic's Wwise audio pipeline package for all of its future titles, including upcoming multiplatform action thriller The Outsider. Wwise is a suite of software designed to provide audio pipelines in game development, supporting every phase of audio development according to Audiokinetic's webpage. The company's previous Wwise clients include Activision, BioWare, Ensemble Studios, and Microsoft Game Studios.
