It looks like Square Enix has finally, and quietly, pulled the plug on the PlayStation 3 version of Last Remnant. The latest issue of the company's Square Enix Magazine retail promotional magazine does not list the title in its upcoming releases calendar. The issue in question is vol.13, which features Final Fantasy XIII on the cover. A release calendar in the back of the issue lists titles of note from the company and its publishing/distribution partners (Ubisoft, Disney, and Taito). Last Remnant 2 is not listed in the date TBA area, which includes such games as The Third Birthday, NieR Gestalt/Remnant, and Front Mission Evolved.

Square Enix said that Last Remnant would be multi platform. And it certainly was, having been released on both the Xbox 360 and PC. But the other target platform for the game may not see the light of day. During an investors meeting today, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada made some comments that suggest PS3 owners could be out of luck.

UK videogame releases for March 16th-20th see the arrival of HAWX and The Last Remnant on PC along with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars releasing on DS. It's mostly a Wii and DS week for new titles. Please note, release dates are about as reliable as a priest stuck in traffic behind two nuns in a Skoda, so don't take them as gospel. This is what we've been told.

Square Enix has teased fans over the possibility of including the original Japanese dialogue in the PS3 version of inbound JRPG The Last Remnant. The Xbox 360 version of the game, described by Square Enix president as the cornerstone of its worldwide strategy, is due out on Thursday, with PS3 and PC versions planned but without a release date. Speaking to VideoGamer.com during an interview with the development team in Tokyo, dialogue editor Yuji Isogawa said we'll see in response to a question about the possibility of including the original Japanese voice over work in the PS3 version.
