Sometimes, our imaginations are enough. Sometimes, ignorance really, really is bliss.

Remember Darth Vader? He used to be the epitome of evil, the most recognizable symbol of scum and villainy in cinematic history. Then we saw the prequels and learned the awful, retconned truth: “Annie” liked to build toy robots, wear pageboy haircuts, yell cutesy catchphrases and hit on his babysitters. ...

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said that it is in development on a new download update to improve the online play in Tekken 6 for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360.

The company said that the DLC is separate from the online co-op Scenario Campaign mode update to be released in the winter.

It added that the update will be available as soon as it has passed testing procedures.

Late last month, Tekken 6 was released on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The editors at Japan's Gemaga decided to see how the load times stack up.

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions compared with the game running installed on the hard drive as well as running off the actual disk. When the game is installed on the hardware, there isn't that big of a difference between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 - the Xbox 360 is slightly fast by a few seconds, but no biggie.

However, according to Gemaga, it takes over thirty seconds (33 seconds, to be exact) to change a character and change a stage running the actual game disc on the PS3, compared with the 11 seconds it takes to start a fight on the Xbox 360 using the game disc.
Tekken is a series that thrives on it – on striking a balance between fulfilling its remit as the ‘accessible’ 3D fighting game (button-mashing will get you further here than in most fighters) and offering a system substantial and even enough to allow the hardcore fans to battle at a competitive level. ...

Tekken 6 reveals its thrills and spills far more readily than its nearest 3D competitor, Virtua Fighter 5, but ultimately it’s a shallower experience. It shows reluctance to move with the times, but it still offers a massive amount of characters and combos to master, and will surely keep hardcore fighting fans busy for a long time.

From Gameswire: "Namco Bandai's Tekken 6 on PS3 features an optional 4GB install, which massively reduces loading times.

Installed copies take just a couple of seconds to get you into the fighting.

How this will affect online play is crucial."
Already available to play in the arcades (if you can find one), there had to be something extra in the home console version to warrant the seemingly endless wait. And, sure enough, there is just that - the new campaign mode.

Firstly, we should make it clear that this isn't going to replace the regular action of the arcade mode.

'Proper' Tekken is still the star of the show with the ...

"An absolutely huge week for gaming news and media starting on August 16th and leading up to August 22nd. We kick things off with a few reviews, including one of Shadow Complex. Release dates have been set in place for Diablo 3 and M.A.G, amongst many others this week. Microsoft also announced Fable 3 during this year's GamesCom event and the real news-piling, eye-peeling buzz of the week came from Sony's camp and the revelation of the PS3 Slim and a new price-cut for the standard PlayStation 3. Not to be one-upped, Microsoft also let loose some information about Xbox 360 price-cuts."
Reason? The hardware of the Wii is too different from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Harada also said that free downloadable content will be available after the release of Tekken 6. Users won't have to pay for this DLC because Namco Bandai don't like the idea "releasing an unfinished product".

"Welcome back, fact-finders. Today sees us continuing our long and noble tradition of telling you what will happen at the Expo in October, via the medium of text. We've already confirmed SEGA's AVP and Bayonetta, and today is the turn of Namco Bandai, who roll into the ring armed with both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of premier smack-'em-up Tekken 6."

PS Blog: One of the most highly anticipated PS3 titles shown at this year's E3 was Zipper Interactive's MAG. Since you've been asking us so much about it, we decided to send Veronica Belmont to Seattle to get the 411 on this ambitious shooter. After seeing the game in action, we're certain you'll be just as impressed with its scope as we are. But the US isn't the only place to find great games, of course-Veronica and Audrey Cleo visited Japan this month to see what other games are coming our way.
But if you want to rationalize things, just think of it as if you're buying a wireless (emphasis on the wireless) fight stick for $90 with the game, with an extra art book thrown in. Does that even things out a bit? If you're interested you can jump on this offer at the following retailers: Gamestop, Gamecrazy, Best Buy and Amazon.com. But remember, supplies are limited.

Siliconera: When Tekken 5 came out Namco Bandai released an Ultimate Collectors Edition bundle containing the game, a DVD case, and an arcade stick. Tekken 6 might get the same treatment.

In addition to the standalone game Gamestop lists Tekken 6 "with arcade stick" for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, the product page doesn't tell us which company is making the arcade stick.

Could Hori be the manufacturer? Namco Bandai partnered with them for the Tekken 5 and Soulcalibur IV sticks. However, the bundle's suggested retail price of $149.99 is a notch too high for a Fighting Stick EX2. Perhaps, Tekken 6 will come with the more deluxe Real Arcade Pro 3 (PS3) and Real Arcade Pro EX (360) sticks.
