For the second year running, the Xbox 360 is the king of consoles. Barely edging out the impressive PS3, the swanky new dash and the amazing exclusives like Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 put Microsoft over the top. The Wii's casual focus didn't garner it any votes this year.
A personal highlight of mine this year was producing the Street Fighter Underground Remix exclusive to PSN. It made sense since the store launched a new music area. I love the idea of integrating different forms of media with gaming. Wait 'til you hear the next album…

Edge writes: "Capcom's John Diamonon spoke yesterday of Street Fighter HD's record-breaking debut-week sales for a digital release, yet the publisher still cannot confirm when the title – which launched late in November – will be released for the PS3 in Europe.

Edge understands that all indications point to a Q1 release for the title, perhaps earlier in that time window. "There are reasons why we can't always release games when we want to, but we are working hard on getting the game out as soon as possible," a Capcom spokesperson explained."

SSF2THDR, released across all territories on Xbox LIVE on November 26, is available to download on the US PlayStation store, but has so far mysteriously not appeared on the EU PlayStation store.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix developer Backbone and redrawn art overseers Udon were "worried" that Capcom might cancel the game during the early part of its troubled development, lead designer David Sirlin has revealed.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com in the second part of a mammoth post-mortem interview, due to be published later this week, Sirlin suggested that Capcom continued to support the project because of pressure from the "world of gaming".

SSF2THDR, which is out on Xbox LIVE Arcade now (it's still to appear on the PlayStation Store in Europe), suffered a high profile delay earlier in the year when redrawn art based on Udon source material was thrown out of the window and work began with a new set of artists.

Eurogamer writes: "Capcom has decided to offer everybody the Street Fighter Underground Remix album for free.

This is to celebrate the release of SSFII Turbo HD Remix, although this won't appear on the European PlayStation store until, well, hopefully next week - Capcom hasn't said.

Oh, and by "everybody", we mean those with a PS3 - there's no sign of the album on Xbox Live Marketplace. That, or we're simply blind."

Remember that crazy-awesome press kit that Capcom created for the release of Mega Man 9? Well the company has decided to do something similar for the release of another hotly anticipated downloadable title, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

In addition to the packaging and asset disc, all of which is covered with some truly fantastic art, the kit comes stuffed with all kinds of Street Fighter goodies. These include: Ryu's very own head band, a Chun-Li figurine, a comic book, and a magnetic board complete with a bunch of static cling SF characters.

Like the MM9 kit, Capcom is considering making a small number of these, 300 in this case, available to the general public via the Capcom Store. Be sure to keep an eye on the Capcom Unity blog if you want to pick one up, because if and when they do go on sale, they will undoubtedly go very quickly. And don't forget that SSFIITHDR will finally be released this week, on both Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
We also love us some Street Fighter. Now the two have joined together in what can only be described as fantasmical awesomeness, which will make us overlook the fact that LBP is already feeling like old news.
You can find it by searching for his username, Rolento, on LBP. Grab it before the LBP Nazi's take it down. I wonder if the fact that Capcom LOVES the level means that it won't get pulled?"
And even better -- you won't have to wait until Thursday to get your hands on it! Capcom's fighting game will arrive during the super-special Thanksgiving Store update on Tuesday, November 25th. That means Street Fighter fans will get the game one day earlier on PS3 than on Xbox 360.

In addition to the game, Capcom will also be releasing a direct-to-download music album of hip-hop tracks inspired by the Street Fighter series. "Street Fighter Underground Remix" will feature artists such as DJ Qbert, Hieroglyphics, Redman, Oh No, DJ Toure, Mistah Fab and Zion I. Each artist has produced a Street Fighter tribute track that will be free of charge and exclusive to the PlayStation Network when Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix launches.
Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. As time dragged by it seemed more likely that Street Fighter 4 would come out before Street Fighter 2 HD Remix. Well now the game is finally finished and awaiting approval from PSN and Xbox Live. November is the target month for Street Fighter 2 HD Remix but it could take longer for either PSN or XBLA to give it the go ahead. There maybe be a delay in release date like Mega Man 9 had. I have PlayStation Store money just waiting for the Thursday that this hits."
Pricing for the downloadable game has not been announced.

Capcom announced yesterday that Street Fighter IV would arrive in Japan in February.

The publisher couldn't clarify an exact date, however - presumably due to unpredictable XBLA and PSN certification processes.

SSFII Turbo HD Remix is, of course, a revamp of the fighting game from 1994 - the first of the series to feature Akuma and super combo moves. Super Street Fighter II also introduced characters Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and T. Hawk, while the Turbo part of the name added faster and more difficult combat."
The previous articles can be found here.
Much time has passed since these articles were first written, but tweaking of the game has continued non-stop, even for the characters whose changes have already been revealed. As a result, in honor of the tenth article, this article provides a quick recap of "the changes to the changes!"
The games introduced a 12-year-old's sketch book worth of extraordinarily absurd bogeymen and we'll never forgive them. Okay, maybe we will, but we're still going to point and laugh.Of course, not all of Capcom's bizarre deviations occurred in SF III - there's plenty of awful character design in the series to ridicule, and we've collected the best of the worst ...

"The last thing I'll mention is concerning the talks the have been occurring online concerning the filesize of the game with respect to features on the 360 and the PS3 versions. I can officially say that the filesize will not be an issue. With great help from the guys at Microsoft, we will be able to offer the same features on both platforms to the same quality as each other. To use the term I've been reading on the forums, neither console version will be "gimped" due to any kind of limitation."
When the game hits this spring, the PlayStation Network version (as well as the PC incarnation) will have higher-res textures than the Xbox Live Arcade version. Blame Live Arcade's 150MB limit on file sizes, Judd explained.

Street Fighter II is more than 15 years old and still the game is one of the most popular with fighting game fans. Capcom is readying a high-definition remake of the game for the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, a version it says will play just like the original arcade game.
Apparently, amidst all the hoopla surrounding the announcement of Street Fighter IV, people have overlooked the fact that SF2HD was actually playable at Capcom Gamer's Day in London, albeit with only Ken and Ryu selectable.
As with many gaming announcements, the official bomb drop date is next Monday, but leaks and the occasional Famitsu exclusive might see word from Capcom HQ much much sooner. The hype machine was pumped and primed when Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix producer Rey Jiminez posted on the official Capcom USA blog "Well, I can testify, that what's coming is a megaton bomb!", adding "You will not be dissappointed."
IGN Playstation 3 Game of the Month: August 2007 (News)

With all the videogames released each and every month, it can be a difficult task to decide on which title to spend your hard-earned money. Granted, you could always go by our review scores alone and weed through the long list of names to find something that scored high or low, but what if you had somewhere else to turn?

Rather than wait until the end of the year for our big award blowout, we've created this monthly tribute to the weeks that were. The entire PlayStation Team has come together so that we can tell our readers what we thought was the very best game for each system last month... and why. Though some of us often chime in with our comments at the end of reviews, for the most part, the reviews on IGN are primarily written by one editor. In this feature we had every editor on the channel vote for a single title. What better way to represent a team is there than to speak your collective minds?

"How are all you Street Fighter heads doing today? Last week I mentioned that I was having a hard time keeping up with all of the questions spread all over the place and to please restate your questions in the last blog entry. Thanks for that. It makes looking for the questions that much easier. I even noticed that the guys at the Capcom BBS and SRK have created new threads and forum areas to help organize everything in one place. Not that any of that was done on my behalf, but it just makes hunting down questions that much easier.

Before I get on to answering some questions from you guys, I wanted to show you a much requested background. I'm sure you can tell, but this is Balrog's stage."

Arcade Renaissance has posted visual evidence linking Capcom's mystery project to Street Fighter IV. Though it is only a simple artifact from the website, the teaser site does seem to borrow a lot of visiual elements from the Third Strike website in Japan. Could Street Fighter IV be Capcom's new 2D fighting game?
