Soulcalibur IV

Also known as: Soul Calibur IV, Soul Calibur 4, Soulcalibur 4, SCIV

So, Namco Bandai has just announced Ivy's Boobs: Part 5 (Oh come on, you know the main point of interest in the Soulcalibur series these days is watching in transfixed horror to see how much worse it mangles and caricatures the female form with every intallment). Previously rumoured, the official reveal came this morning at an event in Dubai. Matt came into work late today. He claimed he had a dentist appointment, but he's looking pretty tanned. That Soulcalibur t-shirt is new as well...

Potential editorial deception aside though, the main point is that Soulcalibur V is happening. There will be more details at E3, but we have a smattering of appetisers for you right now (both good and potentially bad), and a shakycam of the trailer from this morning's event, in lieu of a better quality version probably arriving later today. So click on, damn you!

TGR - If there are two games that all people agree were out of this world on the Sega Dreamcast, it would be Shenmue and Shenmue 2. Both created by legendary developer Yu Suzuki, the game had amazing depth, freedom, and interactivity, capped off with a gripping storyline and incredible characters, so it comes as no wonder that so many Shenmue fans want the story finished. This past week, hope rose from the ashes just to go up in flames again all in the matter of a couple of days.

Joystiq: What if an army of large-breasted female warriors, Darth Vader, and Yoda still weren't enough to satisfy your most illicit fanboy fantasies? Mathematically speaking, that puts you in a very small percentile but, never one to back down from a challenge, Namco has included a character creation tool in Soul Calibur IV to fill in whatever gaps you may feel are inexcusable. For inspiration, we've got this video from CanoodleStrudel, showing off 24 different handmade fighters.

In an interview with the Xbox Community Network, the Director who worked on Soul Calibur IV (Katsutoshi Sasaki) mentioned that the team had no plans for bringing Vader to the Xbox 360 version and Yoda to the PS3. So there you have it, although things could change in the future if both camps shout in their loudest voices at him.
