Some who unfortunately played through the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Sonic the Hedgehog not only sat through awful gameplay, but disturbing scenes as well. Oddly enough, one of these scenes actually involved Sonic kissing a human woman. Yeah, odd indeed. However, Sega promises that with Sonic Unleashed, Sonic will not be making out with any humans. Thank God.
May 15, 2008 - Sonic the Hedgehog fans have survived for too long on a diet of mediocre sequels with clumsy controls and broken cameras -- a selection of games conducted to a catastrophic symphony with 2006's PS3 / Xbox 360 title Sonic the Hedgehog. But there is finally a light at the end of the long tunnel, and it's a bright one. At its Gamer's Day event in San Francisco on Wednesday, SEGA showed off an updated demo of Sonic Unleashed, a project powered by a proprietary new 3D engine, a great sense of style and uncharacteristic polish for the formerly slumbering series. Sega has "unleashed" a handful of new screenshots of its upcoming Sonic instalment, Sonic Unleashed - and worryingly it's still looking quite good. The stakes are high for Sonic and the team which bears his name, as Sonic Unleashed will have to be something truly special in order to keep up with the rest of the market.
Never mind that Sega's crack legal team already confirmed Sonic Unleashed, Official Nintendo Magazine (UK) has a world exclusive! The Wii game will be out this winter, use the Wii-mote and Nunchuk, but won't have online, it seems. Fair enough, the game seems like an old school Sega platformer - a good thing. Says the game's lead designer, Yoshihisa Hashimoto:
Worried about the next, decent looking game in the Sonic series, Sonic Unleashed? Why wouldn't you be? The last game on Xbox 360 and PS3 was after all, absolute crap.Reassuringly, the game's lead designer Yoshihisa Hashimoto at Sonic Team has cut ties with the badly received last adventure, telling our friends at Official Nintendo Magazine that Sonic Unleashed "has no relation" with the last game."As a development team, we ...

The best and most recent Sonic titles have been found on the Nintendo DS. Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure were the closest games that returned Sonic to his roots and are ultimately two of the more entertaining games on the DS. With that being said, the Sonic games on console have been notoriously awful throughout the years. Sonic Unleashed may be changing this, however. The latest rumor floating around about the game is that Sonic Unleashed will use the same game system/engine as the Sonic Rush titles do. If this is to be believed, Sonic Rush might possibly turn out to be one of the most surprisingly enjoyable games of the year.
Ever since the info got leaked regarding Sonic Unleashed, a lot has been said. Here's some of the buzz from a trustworthy source.
