In a recent interview with GameInformer, Sony Computer Entertainment's Senior Vice President of Marketing, Peter Dille, discussed all current aspects of the PlayStation brand.

One question in particular caught PSU's eye. When asked about Killzone PS3 and SOCOM: Confrontation's playability at the upcoming E3, Dille responded:

"Yeah. I think all the stuff you can have playable at E3. And then the one we've been holding back on is Killzone, so it's a good reason for you to come to E3, because we'll have some updates on that. By all means, you need to save something to keep people interested."

Take it how you will, but PSU is interested alright. Expect a blowout of information and impressions on tons of games, in particular Killzone, come this July.

1UP confirmed with Sony that Zipper is still working on its own new SOCOM game for PS3, though it's still quite a ways off (perhaps Fall of 2008?). The Zipper developed game, unlike SOCOM Confrontation, most likely will provide single-player and multiplayer gameplay, and the extra development time will allow Zipper to really do some new things with the franchise.

As publisher SCEA is fond of pointing out, the SOCOM games are huge. Not Madden huge, but the series has a sizable, dedicated fanbase that's playing every single game in the series online, right now, as you're reading this. SOCOM: US Navy SEALs will see big changes when the military squad-based series hits Sony's next-gen console, according to comments from developer Zipper Interactive. The PS3 version will be "a pretty drastic departure from the current game," Zipper senior producer, Seth Luisi, told Official US PlayStation Magazine.
