"As planned right now, the beta is going to involve Crossroads and Crossroads Large, the 16 and 32 player variations. You've seen the screens and videos, and maybe even figured out the general layout of the map, but you'll get a month to play on it yourself.

Beyond that, you'll have access to the full range of game modes. Extraction, Elimination, Suppression, and everything else are going to be represented. You'll be able to adjust the settings how you like, as well. Lock out certain weapons, or even entire weapon classes, if you like. If you hate M4s for some reason, you can shut them out of your game.

Character customization will be in, as well, from body armor to camo to headgear and beyond. There will also be clan support and stat tracking, but be aware that these will all be reset at launch.

Think of the beta as a test drive. It'll be the first time the gaming community at large, and SOCOM.com members in particular, get a crack at the game. The month'll let the team check gameplay, server stress, and a host of other important things. It'll be an interesting ride."

I've noticed a lot of questions about the status of the Public Beta in Canada. Luckily, I've got an easy and direct answer for you.

It is definitely available for all Canadian residents. The voucher will be available in stores within the coming weeks.

Pre-ordering SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation at EBGames in Canada will give you and two of your friends access to the Public Beta. However, this offer is only valid through the retail stores and not online so visit your local EBGames stores and pre-order.

The European version of PS3 exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation is still lost in the bushes.

"We have yet to announce a release date and price for SOCOM in the UK," sergeant Sony told Eurogamer this afternoon.

That follows confirmation of an October 14th release in the US, and word there will be three ways to buy the war game.

When does the Open Beta start?

Well, we will be giving you the answer to that question and the rest of the details on the Open Beta tomorrow on SOCOM.com! Barring any unforeseen issues, it will all be published then. I don't think there will be any issues but I always have to say that. If something should happen that it doesn't go up on time, you guys will never let me hear the end of it!

As many Gamers are anticipating this release whether it be the full version or just a taste of the beta. New or Veteran players of the Socom series are sure in for a treat as new information has surfaced.
As some of this info is already known or new to some.

Please be aware that the original web site source is in Japanese.

Customization: This will allow players to customize their soldier from different clothing, color suits, tactical equipment and even face paint camouflage. There are also preset variations from Light, Medium and Heavy gear soldier equipment.

Weapons will also have customization features where players will be able to add suppressors or Scopes amongst other attachments. There are 30+ weapons in the game so far. Some are M16A2, P226, M67, C4, L96AW, IW-80 A2, DE.50, Mark23, M14, RPG-7, SFCR-LW and USAS-12 to name a few.

- There seems to be a Reputation System in play as the other basic info.

- Game seems to be in an "Alpha Build" Stage.

- Localization is in Japanese.

- Before Re-spawning You are able to re select your weapons and customize again.

It looks to be a relatively nice unit, a bit bigger than your standard Bluetooth headset intended for phones, and the USB charger it comes with is clearly intended to hang out with your PS3. Sony points out that the headset sports a giant mute button for your in-game arguments with significant others, and battery time is promised to be "exceptional." They wouldn't tell us exactly how exceptional, but we'll believe them for now. Finally, they did confirm that you'll be able to pair this with your cellphone in case you want to show off your SOCOM love while away from your living room."

According to GameStop, SOCOM: Confrontation has had its release date pushed back an entire month in order for the team over at Slant Six to remove any technical issue that may still be lingering with the game.

This news came to light when preorder customers received phone calls notifying them of the change of release.
