The long awaited 1.5 patch released August 25, implemented a few new features including tournaments and calenders. Many players were not aware how exactly the huge tournament feature worked. On the movie front there is a non-Twilight related Kristen Stewart flick from the director of the insane comedy Superbad. And from the makers of the low-budget, but highly praised Little Miss Sunshine, the lovely Amy Adams stars in Sunshine Cleaning. For fans of the Devil May Cry video game franchise, the complete anime series makes its mark this week (exclusively on bluray).

Also posted are a few good incentive into buying this week's releases but nothing any gamer should be too excited about.

Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64 rewarded players who completed goals with guns, cheats & special modes, while Spyro 2 on the original PlayStation rewarded players who unlocked 'Skill Points' with extra lives.

We are happy to announce that the 1.60 Update will also contain additional features and content. We've heard your requests for new content and we are happy to provide free downloadable content with the 1.60 update. The following free Downloadable Content will be available to all players:

New Special Forces: The Dutch KCT and the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces. Each Force includes new heads and voice + a light, medium and heavy variant of their own torso and legs (each with a unique camouflage pattern).

Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces; the 417 assault rifle for the Dutch KCT and the SPAS 15 shotgun for the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces.

Four new weapons will be available to all players regardless of assigned Special Force. These are the 9mm Sub Machine Gun, M82A1A, Ak-74 and SR-25. The 1.60 will also include a number of weapon updates and adjustments to existing weapons."

Slant Six has just applied the finishing touches to the SOCOM website. The website has left the beta stages, with a few cool new community features to boot. Confrontation players can now check detailed player rankings, featured players, the latest videos and screens, as well as an online map in the form of a world globe that highlights active players around the planet.

"I know you are all anxious to hear of a release date for Patch 1.5 and for DLC. You all know by now that we can't give you a date until we have one that is for sure. But I am going to give you a tentative time frame.

As I mentioned in my post last Friday, the patch is in QA now. Because of its size and all of the new features it includes, extensive testing is planned. So I can tell you that the patch most likely will not be ready before mid to late May.
