"The 1.60 patch for SOCOM Public Beta will be released on Thursday, October 9th, at 5 a.m. PDT. This patch addresses the joining and disconnection issues that players are currently experiencing.

Early next week, the SOCOM team will be releasing the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.50 Patch. In order to have ample time to test it, they are also extending the Public Beta until midnight PDT Thursday, October 9th. They will have more details on the patch itself soon.

Thankfully, looking past those issues, SOCOM proves to be a solid third-person shooter with some great community features. Warhawk has long been the standard for organized multiplayer on the PlayStation 3, but it appears that the title will quickly be passed to SOCOM when the game launches. Even in beta, a number of key improvements already trump Incognito's excellent title.
Edge reports that SOCOM: Confrontation developer Slant Six will roll out a patch on Tuesday as it aims to rectify some of the problems that have marred the launch of the title's public beta.
It seems to be an unfortunate trend of modern online gaming - last week it was Spore, and now it's Socom: Confrontation that has been plagued with online server issues. Do these people not see it coming?

GameXtract writes "Reports across the Playstation forums are indicating that Playstation 3 users are starting to receive their beta codes, and are able to start downloading the game. Not only are people furiously starting to download the beta, but some who received a code are choosing to trade it in exchange for the Home beta. Looks like we got some beta trading going on here.
