The branching story, presentation and overall atmosphere were all truly horrific. Even though the gameplay could get quite frustrating if you didn't know the exact layout of an area along with its enemies, it included some unique elements such as sight- jacking, which allowed one to see through the eyes of an enemy and who could ever forget playing hiding seek with mother, father and sister shibito with Hirumi! Fast forward four years later after the release of the original Siren to the year 2008 and PlayStation 3 owners are now graced with a full remake of the original Siren entitled "Siren: Blood Curse" available only on the PlayStation Store of the PlayStation Network. This remake changes the whole control setup giving players tighter controls that respond much more fluidly and there is now less emphasis on constant running and hiding and switching to sight jacking every 10 seconds. Sight jacking now has a split screen appearance where you can control the current character while looking through the eyes of a shibito. -- What is a shibito? Shibito are undead husks of the people they once were. They are walking corpses fueled by evil and hate. Survival horror is my personal favorite genre to write for and hopefully it will show off in this guide. In the Basics section, you'll find the overall basic setup of controls for the game, the walkthrough section lists out every archive file, weapon and special tasks used to unlock other archive files within. The Archive section compiles all the special tasks used to unlock archive files along with a complete list of all the archive files and archive weapons that can be collected throughout the game. Feel free to email me at my email address listed in the contact info or beginning of this guide if you have any questions and, as always, thanks for reading! The game will allow the player to choose from starting at a checkpoint previously reached or starting the entire chapter over once you begin a chapter that you previously quit. =========== Checkpoints =========== Once you reach a certain portion of a stage, a checkpoint will eventually activate. Anytime your character is defeated, you will return to the previous checkpoint that was activated prior to dying. If you quit the game during the middle of a chapter then you will have the option to begin from a previously passed checkpoint on the chapter that you were previously playing if one has been activated. ============= Melee Weapons ============= Melee weapons have a variety of attacks that can be performed in the following ways: a) Press the attack button once for a single strike. b) Press the attack button multiple times for a three hit combo attack c) Press forward + attack for a lunging attack d) Hold the attack button for a strong attack ======== Firearms ======== - Firing a shot Hold the L1 button to enter aiming mode then tap the attack button to fire. Tap the /\ button or flick the controller up and to the left while aiming to reload. - Performing Melee attacks Tap the [] button while not aiming to perform a single strike melee attack. Press forward + attack while not aiming to perform a lunging melee attack. - Zooming with a weapon While holding certain weapon (shotgun, rifle) hold the L1 button to enter aiming mode then tap D-pad up to zoom in and D-pad down to zoom out. =========================== The Importance of Crouching =========================== Tap the O button to switch between a crouching and standing stance. While crouching, your character will move much more quietly and be able to sneak up a behind an enemy for a surprise attack. Your character can also crouch and move behind some objects to avoid detection. Crouching is very essential for moving around quietly as the episodes progress and the number of shibito as well as the varieties of them increase. =========================== Getting up from a Knockdown =========================== Whenever your character is knocked down by an enemy attack, shake the controller to quickly get up as the controller icon appears. ====================== Interacting with Doors ====================== Wait for a button icon to appear while standing next to a door then: Tap the X button to open a door. Press and hold the /\ button to brace a door then shake the controller to struggle against any enemy that tries to open the door. Locks on some doors can be broken by approaching the lock on a door and hitting it with melee attacks from a weapon. ====================================== Unlocking and Interacting with Devices ====================================== Some interactive objects require your character to stand in place and rotate or tinker with a device while you hold the /\ button. There type of interactive objects leave your character wide open, so make sure no other enemy is in the immediate area, or at least make sure that the surrounding enemies are preoccupied. ========== Sight Jack ========== Controls for sight jack: L2 = Begin sight jack/Cancel sight jack R2 = Immediately sight jack nearest shibito or currently alert shibito L1 = Switch to another shibito R1 = Switch to another shibito [] = Lock-on to sight jacked shibito Starting on Episode 2, Chapter 4, press the L2 button at any time to begin a sight jack. This will bring up a dual screen format where the normal camera angle will be displayed on the left and another camera will be displayed on the right. Tap either the L1 or R1 button to cycle between shibito and allies. Tap the R2 button to immediately switch to the closest shibito or an alert shibito. Once you have found an ally or shibito's view that you want to lock- on to, tap the [] button to lock-on to that view and it will be displayed on the right screen while you have the option to move freely on the left side of the screen. Tapping the L2 button once again will cancel the sight jack ability at any time. To sight jack multiple targets, press and hold the /\, O or X buttons while cycling through the different views with the R1 or L1 buttons to assign a sight jack target shortcut to that one target. After one target is locked with a button, switch between the other targets and assign them to a different button. With this system, you can have a total of three targets sight jacked at one time. All the three target viewpoints will be displayed on the right side of the screen. You cannot move with three targets sight jacked however. Press the button of choice (/\, O or X) to lock-on to one of the three views then tap the [] button to be able to move while sight jacking the one chosen view. To pull up all three again, simply tap L2 to exit sight jack then press L2 again to bring up the three views. In order to cancel a view, you'll need to overwrite it by using the R1 or L1 button to switch to another view, then hold either /\, O or X to overwrite whichever of the three views you want to delete. The only bad part about multiple views is that the animation is very choppy in each view thanks to the extreme amount of movement at times. ======= Archive ======= The Archive menu is one of the submenus under the Select menu. All file transcripts and weapon details will be added to a numbered slot up under the archive menu. The full file and a description of each weapon may be viewed at any time during gameplay under this menu. ================ Special Finishes ================ A few of the weapons have special finishes that can be initiated depending on where and how you hit the enemy. Special Finishes will begin a cutscene that will instantly defeat an enemy. Some Special Finishes can also be activated while your character stands next to an obstacle and hits a shibito with a particular weapon. Below, I have listed a few examples. Just about every weapon has some type of special finish however: --> Metal Pipe - Special Finish 1 Requirement: Hit a shibito while it is standing for the final hit with the pipe. Description: Three hits to the head. - Special Finish 2 Requirement: Hit a shibito while it ducks down while staggering from a hit - this must be the final hit. Description: Stomach Thrust followed by an overhead hit while the Shibito falls to its knees. - Special Finish 3 Requirement: Sneak up behind a shibito then attack it from the back. Description: The character will tap the on the shibito's shoulder then hit it in the head as it turns. --> .38 Caliber Handgun - Special Finish Requirement: Wait for a shibito armed with a weapon to lean back its weapon and then shoot it or hit it with the gun right before it strikes while close to them. Description: The character hits the shibito over the head with the gun then points the gun straight at the shibito's face when it rises up and shoots. --> Mallet - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up behind a shibito then hit him in the back with the mallet. Description: The character hits the shibito in the side of the leg then smacks him across the face with the mallet as it falls to its legs. --> Froe Axe - Special Finish Requirement: Attack a shibito from the front side. Description: The character sticks the axe into the leg of the shibito making it fall to its knees then the character slashes it across the face with the axe. --> Brush Hatchet - Special Finish Requirement: Attack a shibito from behind. Description: The character knocks down the shibito then sticks the hatchet right into its back. --> Garden Hoe - Special Finish Requirement: Hit a shibito with a three hit combo from the front side with the hoe. Description: The character trips the shibito then stabs it with the blade of the hoe. --> Garden Fork - Special Finish 1 Requirement: Hit a shibito with a three hit combo from the front side with the fork. Description: The character trips the shibito then stabs it with the blade of the hoe. - Special Finish 2 Requirement: Hit a shibito with a three hit combo from the front side with the fork Description: The character sticks the fork into the shibito then kicks them off of it. --> Splitting Axe - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up behind a shibito then hit it from behind. Description: The character knocks the shibito down with the handle of the axe then plunges the blade directly into the shibito while it is on the ground. --> Video Camera Requirement: Attack a shibito with the camera and the character will automatically perform this during the last hit. Description: The character will bang the camera into the shibito's head three times then deliver once final smash to their skull. All playable chapters were repeated many times in order to find all secrets and weapon pickups in each particular chapter. If you've read a guide by me before then you'll notice that I use symbols to showcase an important item pickup. Here is a description of how this works in this Siren walkthrough: --ITEM-- = denotes a weapon (pick up the weapon to add it to the archive menu) ++ITEM++ = denotes an archive file !!ITEM!! = denotes a key item (or in Chapter 4, Episode 5, a past sight) Note: All weapons and archive files are labeled with numbers beside them representing the corresponding number that appears in the archive. The following archive files will be received as this chapter begins: ++THE SACRED REVELATIONS (#01)++, ++VIDEO CAMERA (#02)++, ++HOWARD WRIGHT'S STUDENT ID (#03)++. Howard will start this chapter in the building that he runs into and inspects as the cutscene ends. You'll want to take this chance to get accustomed to the control setup for Siren. Tap the O button to toggle between a crouching and standing stance. Moving while crouched is very important early on in this game while the main character is defenseless. Tapping the R1 and [] will make Howard perform a punch and these buttons can be tapped several times in a row for a combo - attacks are mainly only useful with an actual weapon. Use the X button to inspect and interact with surroundings. The /\ button is used in special situations to interact but an on-screen prompt will inform you of this. R2 can be held to enter a first person view, L1 can be held to sidestep while holding to the right or left, D-pad left (Directional pad left) will yell, and D-pad up will toggle the flashlight on and off. The main reason to yell is to get an enemy's attention in order to lure it toward you in certain instances (like when setting up a trap). The flashlight will not draw attention to yourself since a shibito will not even notice it, so there is no reason turn it off at the moment. Step through the doorway of the building to trigger a cutscene. -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Goal: Reach the house. A checkpoint will trigger directly after the cutscene, meaning that you will start over at this part if you happen to die. The police officer shibito from the cutscene will hold up his gun and aim at Howard, so quickly turn and run down the road behind Howard. The police officer is likely to hit Howard twice while you move down the road but just keep moving. There is a wooden canopy off to the left side with a wooden bench underneath it - approach the bench and pick up the --SAKE BOTTLE (#39)-- by tapping the X button when the on-screen icon appears. Your main destination is up the hill behind this canopy, but first run back toward the police officer with the sake bottle equipped and bust him in the head with it by tapping the R1 or [] button while standing next to him. This will stun the police officer shibito momentarily and he will drop ++SHUJI SHIMADA'S POLICE LOG (#04)++. Stand still right after hitting the shibito then grab his notepad from the ground and haul ass back down the road behind Howard before the shibito recovers. Find the hill composed of steps behind the wooden canopy where you previously collected the sake bottle then run up the hill. A man will stagger out from the darkness further up the hill and fall in front of Howard. There is no time to worry about the man since that police officer Shibito is still stalking you my friend. Keep moving up the hill and you'll come to a building. [X] Goal: Reach the house. COMPLETE [ ] Sub-Goal: Find a place to hide. Rush over to the sliding door of the building to receive an "Open" command while standing in front of it. It turns out that it is locked. Move toward the left side of the door, near the planks that lean against the side of the building to get a "Hide" command. Quickly press the X button when the icon appears and Howard will crawl up under the small space up under the building. The camera will switch to a first person view of Howard as he hides from the shibito. Watch for the shibito to move toward the building. The body near the side of the building will ask for help while staring at Howard. The police officer shibito will shoot the injured man then begin to search the area for Howard. An introduction to the sight jacking ability will appear on the right side of the screen. This ability allows your character to see through the eyes of a shibito. The sight jacking in this stage cannot be controlled, so all you can do for now is watch when a sight jack occurs. The shibito will open the window on the side of the building in his attempt to find Howard then he will walk away. [X] Sub-Goal: Find a place to hide. COMPLETE [ ] Sub-goal: Sneak into the house through the window. Once the second screen disappears from the right side of the game screen, press the X button to leave Howard's hiding spot. Step toward the open window to the right of the locked door and press X to climb through the window. [X] Sub-goal: Sneak into the house through the window. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Sub-goal: Find a place to hide inside the house. As soon as Howard begins to climb through the window, the shibito will notice him. You need to find some place to hide quick! Step away from the window as fast as you can to avoid the gunfire just in case he begins to shoot at Howard. There are two places to hide in this building. 1) Step through the sliding doors across from the window that you climbed through and shut the door. A gruesome sight awaits Howard in there. 2) Run through the hall to the left and find the TV in the back room. Approach the cabinet to left of the TV to get a "Hide" command. Howard will step into the cabinet and shut the door once the hiding command is given. No matter where you hide, the police officer shibito will step through the window (if you hide in the bathroom) or shoot the lock on the front door (if you hide in the cabinet) and enter the building. He will stop and look around the room. He will look around differently depending on where you hide. If you hide in the cabinet he will actually approach it and look straight toward the open space that Howard looks out of! If the police officer sees Howard at any time while he is in the bathroom - if you try to leave early - then you can push up against the door and hold the /\ button then shake the controller to brace the door. The police officer will go back to searching the house after struggling with Howard. However, if you hide in the cabinet while the police officer is looking, he will walk over to the cabinet and open the door then grab Howard and choke slam him to the ground. You can also unlock the front door - this will help the police officer to gain entry to the building faster if you hide in the cabinet (aka. He won't have to shoot the lock on the front door). There is also a Sake bottle beside the female corpse in the room with the TV. If you failed to get the archive file from the police officer earlier then you have another chance here but it is slightly harder this time. You need to sneak up on him and hit him from the back or hit him while he is not swinging in order to stun him and make him drop the file. [X] Sub-goal: Find a place to hide inside the house. COMPLETE [ ] Sub-goal: Quietly sneak past the police officer. The police officer will eventually move toward the back of the building and shoot the lock off the back door then step through it. Another sight jacking sequence will occur eventually. Wait for him to step through the door and move back inside. He will eventually give up the search and step back out the front door as the sight jacking sequence ends. [ ] Sub-goal: Escape out the back door. Step out of whichever hiding place you chose. You could take this opportunity to pick up the sake bottle from near the female corpse then hit the police officer with it to gain the file if you didn't earlier. The police officer will stand outside the front doorway with his back turned, so crouch and sneak up behind him then hit him in the back of the head - the file will fall in front of him, so be ready to rush and grab it then quickly run through the back doorway of the building. Otherwise, quietly and quickly, step through the back door that the police officer shibito opened during the sight jacking. While Howard moves away from the door, debris will fall against the door and seal it off. [X] Sub-goal: Escape out the back door. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- Pick up the --SHOVEL (#25)-- from the metal bucket near the side of the house. After grabbing the shovel, turn around and walk- oh shit, he just busted through the wall. Ok, immediately run toward him then hit him continuously with the shovel. Tap the attack button three times for a three hit combo. Press forward and tap attack for a lunging attack. Press and hold the attack button to perform a heavy attack. You must hit him before he has a chance to attack Howard or the police officer will most likely get the advantage and attack you every time that you try to attack him. You now have access to the Select menu also - press select to pull up the map of current area and use L1 or R1 to cycle through the menus at the top of the screen. All files may be examined by pressing the Select button and choosing "ARCHIVE" from the top set of menu tabs - use the L1 and R1 buttons to cycle through the tabs. For this mission, you are in control of Sam Monroe. Go past the toppled mine carts to the left up ahead and walk up the stairs. The path to the right of the stairs will only lead to the edge of a cliff. A cutscene will trigger halfway up the stairs. [ ] Sub Goal: Sneak by the Shibito without being seen. The tutorial for the alert system will appear on the screen after the cutscene. Whenever an enemy is nearby, a heartbeat sound will occur and (if you have a Dual Shock 3 controller) your controller will vibrate. There is a Shibito with his back turned up ahead. You don't have to turn the flashlight off here since the shibito will not notice it. The left path that leads to the south is blocked off at the end. Walk toward the set of mine carts up ahead and tap the O button to crouch. Move around the right side of the mine carts while crouched. The shibito will turn around and begin to walk the other way as Sam moves to the other side. It will walk toward the side that Sam came from and will crouch with its back turned. Step out from around the side of the set of carts then carefully continue down the path to the north. You can actually sneak behind the mine carts very quickly and move out from behind them instantly since the Shibito will turn right when Sam first steps around the side of them. All is not lost if the shibito happens to see Sam. If it does then quickly run into the tunnel up ahead and grab the metal pipe from the left wall then defeat it with the pipe. It will leave behind a --MINING PICK (#23)--. -- CHECKPOINT -- [X] Sub Goal: Sneak by the Shibito without being seen. COMPLETE! [ ] Sub Goal: Find a weapon. Enter the tunnel further ahead. A --METAL PIPE (#24)-- will be sticking out along the left side of the tunnel. Approach the pipe and watch for the X icon to appear while standing near it then pick up the pipe by pressing the X button. Swing the pipe with the R1 or [] buttons, hold down either of the buttons to perform a strong attack, tap the buttons a few times to perform a combo swing (maximum of three swings), and press forward + attack to perform a lunging attack. You could go back and defeat the first shibito if you want - sneak up behind him then hit him for a very powerful knockdown. Otherwise, move further down the tunnel up ahead. [X] Sub Goal: Find a weapon. COMPLETE! [ ] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito by the Mining Office. [ ] Sub Goal: Break the lock on the Mining Office door. At the end of the tunnel, you can catch site of a female shibito with her back turned as she looks through the top portion of the nearby door to the office. Crouch and move toward her then attack her with the metal pipe once you get close and Sam will hit her then knock her halfway through the window. Make sure that you don't knock over the water pail on the right side of the tunnel while moving toward her or she will hear it and turn. She will leave behind a --HAND SICKLE (#15)--. Go ahead and pick it up. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up on the female shibito that has its back turned while standing by the office window and attack it. Sam must use the metal pipe to attack her or this will not work. Description: Sam smacks the shibito in the head then as it staggers, he runs up to it and grabs its head then plows it into the bottom portion of the door window. ----- One might think that you could avoid damaging the sliding door window by not performing a stealth knockout on the female shibito in order to help out in the next chapter but it doesn't matter whether you knock her through the window or not since the window will be broken on the next chapter anyway. [X] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito by the Mining Office. COMPLETE! The siren control room (small building to the right of the set of carts) up ahead does not contain anything and the path to the side of the building is blocked but there is a ladder on the south side of the siren control room, so walk against it and climb it. Collect the --DIGITAL VIDEO TAPE (#08)-- from off the top of the boxes at the top. Walk over to the office entrance on the left side of the set of carts. Sam can't open the door since it is locked. Stand in front of the door (while the icon appears) then tap the X button a few times in a row to attack and finally break the lock. [X] Sub Goal: Break the lock on the Mining Office door. COMPLETE! The tutorial for sight jacking will appear at the beginning of this chapter. No longer is it just a cinematic feature, but you can now control it. [ ] Sub Goal: Sight jack and lock on to Amana's view. Follow the on-screen directions. Press L2 to enter sight jacking mode. This will bring up a dual screen view of the current camera and an extra camera to the side. Press L1 and R1 to cycle between shibito and allies (Amana in this case). Pressing the R2 button while in sight jacking mode will immediately sight jack an alerted shibito or the closest nearby shibito – keep this in mind for when a shibito spots one of your characters later in the game. Tap the [] button while sight jacking to lock-on to that particular view of enemy or ally. You need to lock-on to Amana's view by pressing the [] button whenever the image of Howard appears on the right screen (Amana's view of Howard). Release the sight jack at any time by tapping the L2 button once you have locked on. [X] Sub Goal: Sight jack and lock on to Amana's view. COMPLETE Here's a little extra info for you about sight jacking: To sight jack multiple targets, press and hold the /\, O or X buttons while cycling through the different views with the R1 or L1 buttons to assign a sight jack target shortcut to that one target. [ ] Sub Goal: Stay close to Amana. Once Amana walk down the path ahead, follow her. Release sight jacking if you still have it available since it can confuse your current view if you're not used to it yet. Keep up with Amana as she crouches and walks ahead. She will motion for Howard to follow her down a path and beside a building to the southwest. It is so very important that you keep up with her or you'll risk getting spotted by a shibito. == Outside Mutsai House == She will stand and wait around the side of the building. Follow Amana as she steps up on top of the wooden platforms and onto the roof. Walk against the platforms to climb on top of them. Once Howard steps on top of the roof, Amana will walk to the other side then hop across to the other side. Keep moving forward on the current rooftop then walk up to the edge and press toward Amana's side and Howard will automatically jump across. == Mitamura House == Move toward Amana and Howard will fall through the roof and into the room below. This will alert a nearby shibito. -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Sub Goal: Find a place to hide and sneak past the Shibito. Quickly walk over to the closet off to the left and watch for the X button icon to appear then hide inside of the closet. You have to do this very quick or the shibito will spot Howard while he gets inside the closet. While hiding inside the closet, the nearby female shibito will step into the room and have a look around the area. You can sight jack her while in this hiding place, so go ahead and do so if you want. Press L2 and then tap the R2 button to sight jack the outside female shibito - lock-on to her with []. Wait for the female shibito to leave then step back out of the closet. [ ] Sub Goal: Escape out the back entrance and reunite with Amana. Stay in a crouched stance while in this room since the outside female shibito can hear Howard very easily if he walks around normally. She will stand right near the door and look every way accept behind her. Quietly move toward the right side of the closet (while facing it) then step into the back of the room. You can either go out the back door to find Amana or go up the stairs around the corner of the right wall (while still in the building) and move to the second floor - step out onto the outside walkway at the top. There is closet on the second floor that Howard can hide inside as well. [X] Sub Goal: Find a place to hide and sneak past the Shibito. COMPLETE [X] Sub Goal: Escape out the back entrance and reunite with Amana. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- == Rice Shop == Climb up the platforms along with Amana or, if you're on the second floor, step down to the roof to keep up with Amana. Follow Amana to the west as she steps off the roof. Continue to follow her as she leads Howard through a flooded building and toward a truck outside of the building. -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito near the Karibna Noodle Shop. Find the sign that Amana is talking about by switching to first person view and looking toward the noodle shop on the other side of the truck. You can toggle between first person view and third person view by tapping the R3 button (push in on right analog) or you can hold the R2 button for a momentary first person view. Below the sign is a shibito. Sight jack the shibito directly below the sign. You can get a clear view of the shibito that Howard is sight jacking by paying attention to the red marks on the screen. The shibito will walk back and forth along the side of the building - he will move under the sign, mess around with a propane tank then walk toward the other side of the building to look through the window. Be sure to stay locked-on to him while in sight jack mode and wait for him to either get involved in looking through the window or messing with the propane tank then crouch walk over toward the entrance of the Karibna Noodle Shop that he is to the side of. == Karibna Noodle Shop == Walk into the building then move behind the counter and pick up the --FRYING PAN (#06)-- from off the right side of the counter near the window. You don't need this for the moment, but pick it up anyway. Find the stairs in the back of the noodle shop near the open door and move to the second floor. There is a --BEER BOTTLE (#40)-- on the floor in the back right corner and a sake bottle on the left side of the room. Walk toward the electric sign outside the window of the second floor and you'll eventually get a "Knock Over Sign" command as the X button icon appears. While still sight jacked to the shibito below, wait for him to step under the sign (when he messes with the propane tank) then press the X button to knock over the sign and knock out the shibito outside the noodle shop. [X] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito near the Karibna Noodle Shop. COMPLETE Run back down the stairs then exit the noodle shop via the front entrance. Amana has walked up the steps across from the propane tank that the shibito was examining earlier, so find those steps and join her at the top. Follow her and crouch whenever she crouches to avoid alarming the shibito that is crouched near the bus stop below. While following Amana, there is a damaged portion of the railing to the left near the bus stop with the crouched shibito. The bus stop rooftop will help out in letting you get past the shibito that is in front of the building below and allow you to get to a special item. It is best to activate the checkpoint in the graveyard before attempting this, so continue to move along the path then activate the checkpoint in the graveyard and come back. You could actually grab a hunting trap from the wooden shed in the graveyard, but they're not really needed for now. -- CHECKPOINT -- Move toward this gap in the railing to jump to the top of the bus stop. Sight jack the shibito below that is standing in front of the building that Howard fell through the roof of previously. You can fall down and move toward the dirt area with the buried car without her seeing you. Wait for her to turn away from your side then quickly crouch and move up the hill to the north. If you are continuing from the checkpoint in the graveyard then she will pace back and forth, so just wait for her to turn and pace the other way then move up the hill. At the top of the hill, stand at the bottom of the stairs then sight jack the shibito at the top of the stairs. Wait for him to walk toward the well at the top then quickly crouch and move up the stairs. He will walk over to the well and look into it, so move up to him and hit him in the back of the head with anything (even your fists) to knock him down into the well. Pick up the --MALLET (#31)-- from near the front of the building where the shibito was sitting. There is also a sake bottle here, but you don't really need it. Climb the ladder of the lookout tower in front of the building and retrieve the ++MYSTERIOUS TABLET (#09)++ from the top. If you want a new weapon then you'll need to defeat the shibito down the path that Amana went down at the beginning of this chapter. The shibito that had her back turned as Howard and Amana snuck past her now paces back and forth below that path. Sight jack her and wait for her to turn and walk away from the path then sneak up behind her and hit her with the mallet. Pick up her --NAIL HAMMER (#10)-- afterward. If she sees Howard then don't worry because she is no match for the almighty mallet! To get back to the graveyard safely, take the long way around and basically go through the entire area once again by climbing the buildings just like Amana did. Run back up the stairs across from the noodle shop then crouch and move along the path to get back to the graveyard and Amana. I would sight jack then sneak past the shibito that is by the noodle shop while moving back toward the stairs if I were you. == Graveyard == [ ] Sub Goal: Ensnare the Shibito near the Graveyard in a trap. Amana will hide behind the nearby wooden shed in the graveyard and look toward the shibito with the shovel up ahead. Walk toward the shed and collect the -- HUNTING TRAP (#48)-- from inside. There is also another hunting trap on the right side outside of the building. Crouch and quietly walk toward the shibito with the shovel up ahead. Walk up to him then press a direction on the D-pad to bring up the D-pad menu then press down to set the trap. Don't set it directly next to him. Step away from him once the trap is set and put him in line with the trap then press D-pad left to yell at him. He will turn then begin to walk toward Howard and set off the trap. [X] Sub Goal: Ensnare the Shibito near the Graveyard in a trap. COMPLETE Once he is caught in the trap, you can immediately run down the road behind him to reach your next destination. But what fun would that be? I would rather stand near him and yell at him to taunt him or hit him in the back of the head with his own shovel or a frying pan or mallet. Your choice. Either way, move down the path behind him then run down the steps and meet up with Amana to end this chapter. A cutscene will play as the chapter opens. [ ] Sub Goal: Evade the attacking Shibito. A female shibito will appear outside the office as soon as the cutscene ends. Run toward the entrance door that Sam busted through on the last chapter and hold the /\ button when the button icons appears while standing next to it to brace the door then shake your controller to help Sam keep the door closed. The shibito will eventually give up then run toward the door on the south side of the office. Run toward this second door. Sam can brace the door just like the other door, but the shibito will eventually break through anyway. It will run straight toward Melissa and try to attack her. Don't worry too much about hitting it until it runs toward Melissa. Move up behind it while its back is turned then attack it to deliver a devastating blow to it. If Melissa braces the door on the south side of the office then the shibito will not break through. In this case, you will have to run back to the other door once again and brace it since the shibito will return to the first door. The shibito will eventually break through when either Sam or Melissa braces the door. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Brace both doors for as long as possible then sneak up behind the shibito as it attacks Melissa and attack it. Sam must use the metal pipe to attack the shibito. Description: Sam taps on the shibito's back then smacks it in the head as the shibito turns. ----- If you don't brace the doors in the office for as long as possible then the shibito will not run toward Melissa and attack - she will run toward Sam and attack! The shibito will usually run toward Sam if the second door is braced by Melissa. [X] Sub Goal: Evade the attacking Shibito. COMPLETE! Melissa will run toward the back door of the office and open it then ask Sam to follow her. You can take this time to check out the basement below the office, but there is nothing down there. If you take too long while examining other areas of the office then the female shibito will get back up and attack. Approach the phone in the office and press the X button to interact with it while standing next to it - watch for the "Use Phone" option. There are two numbers that appear on the phone that can be dialed: "364" in the middle of the phone and "508" circled on the bottom right side of the phone. 364 will get you a busy signal since that is the number of this particular phone and 508 will let you hear a shibito moaning on the other line. Dialing "508" makes the shibito in the mine up above unlock a door that contains a secret item as he walks to the phone to answer it, so be sure to do this. Once Sam moves toward Melissa, she will lead the way down the path behind the office. Follow her up the stairs then into the tunnel to the right at the end of the path. A small cutscene will trigger inside of the tunnel. == West Shaft Upper Level == [ ] Sub Goal: Find a gun. Oh no, you sure as hell don't want to continue down that tunnel, my friend. Turn around and Melissa will mention that there are too many shibito and that you will have to find another way around then she will run across the bridge. Follow her. You need to find some sort of gun to defeat the shibito at the current end. == East Shaft Upper Level == Walk into the tunnel on the other side of the bridge and Melissa will be startled as she sees a shibito around the corner. Luckily for her and Sam, the shibito has its back turned and is conveniently facing an open elevator shaft. Crouch down and sneak over behind the unaware shibito then attack it from behind and knock it toward the elevator shaft to defeat it. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Sneak up behind the shibito that faces the elevator shaft then attack it from behind. Sam must be equipped with the metal pipe for the scene, although you can stagger the shibito all the way to the edge and knock it off with any other weapon. Description: Sam slams his weapon into the back of the shibito then casually move forward and pushes it over the edge. ----- If you happen to run to the west end of the tunnel without triggering the cutscene on the east end, then the shibito with the gun will not have his back turned and he will easily defeat you. Pick up the --.38 CALIBER HANDGUN (#44)-- from where the shibito stood. It comes with a box of 90 bullets, so you won't be running out anytime soon. Hold the L1 button to aim then tap the R1 or [] button to fire. Reload by holding the L1 button and tapping the /\ button or by flicking the controller up and to the left. You can actually perform a melee attack by simply pressing either attack button while not holding the L1 button. [X] Sub Goal: Find a gun. COMPLETE If you dialed "508" on the phone in the office below then enter the pumping station room through the door to your left (it should be wide open) and pick up the !!CAN OPENER!! on the left set of shelves inside. The can opener will allow access to an archive file in Episode 7, Chapter 4. You can also walk over to the phone to the left of the doorway and dial "364" to dial the phone above though this does no good for this episode. Dialing "508" will give you a busy signal since that is the number of this phone. == East Shaft Upper Level == A shibito will attack as you step back into the tunnel that leads to the bridge. Shoot her as she runs toward Sam. After shooting the first shibito, two more will hear the gunfire and run toward Sam from the other side of the bridge, so prepare to shoot them as well. Pick up the --MINING PICK (#23)-- from one of the shibito to add it to your archive if you didn't pick it up from the very first shibito in the last chapter. You should also take this time to pull the switch off to the left side of the tunnel. This switch will adjust the tracks so that the tracks from the bridge connect to the ones in front of the locked gate in the back of the tunnel. == Bridge == Run to the other side of the bridge and another shibito will attack. Any of the shibito on this side can be led to the side of the bridge without railing and knocked off if you want to finish them that way. Two more shibito will attack as you enter the tunnel on the other side. One will rush out from a tunnel off to the right. That tunnel is your destination but don't go there just yet. ----- - Special Finish Requirement: Wait for a shibito armed with weapon to lean back their weapon and then shoot them or hit them with the gun right before they strike while close to them. Description: Sam hits the shibito over the head with the gun then points the gun straight at the shibito's face when it rises up and shoots. - Special Finish Requirement: Stand next to the railing on either side and hit a shibito with the gun. Description: On the final blow, Sam will grab the shibito then shoot it and toss it over the side of the railing. ----- == West Shaft Upper Level == Run toward the back of the current tunnel then get behind the single mine cart at the end. Watch for the "Push Cart" command then hold the /\ button to push the cart. Quickly tap the X button when the "Jump in" command appears to have Sam hop inside. Sam and the mine cart will barrel down the bridge and Sam will jump off just before the mine carts crashes into the locked gate on the other side (if you pressed the switch earlier to adjust the tracks). An X button command will appear for Sam to jump off the cart manually, but you don't need to press it since he will automatically jump off before impact. == East Shaft Upper Level == Enter the newly opened gate then collect the --MINE WORKER'S JOURNAL (#10)-- from the boxes beside the mine cart. Run back down the bridge to the east and enter the tunnel on the right side. Once Sam walks far enough down this tunnel a cutscene will play and the chapter will end. [ ] Sub Goal: Use Staircase B to go down to the 1st floor. == Room 206 == Bella will start out her nightmare in Room 206. Much like little Harumi from the original Siren, Bella is completely unarmed and must rely on stealth and pure running in order to make it out of this hospital alive. If a shibito ever gets near Bella then Bella will kneel down and the mission will automatically be failed, so stealth is completely necessary for the most part. Open the door and exit out into the main hall. == Second Floor Hallway == Don't worry if you begin to hear the alert system go off (heartbeat) since the shibito down the corridor to the right can't see Bella. All doors along the left side of the hall are locked, even the door up the stairs, so you'll have to sneak down the northwest end of the hall. You can sight jack the shibito behind the reception window at the end of the hall to find that she is simply staring out the window near the door. Crouch with Bella and stay near the wall below the reception counter then sneak around the corner while sticking near that wall. Do not open the door to the reception office or the shibito will see Bella. If the shibito does see Bella, you might be able to run back into the room that Bella previously left and hide under the bed. This will usually work. Don't mess with the elevator switch on the north side of the office since the elevator has a shibito inside and calling it will only bring the elevator up to your current floor. Quietly walk over to Staircase B on the north side and take the stairs down to the first floor hallway. [X] Sub Goal: Use Staircase B to go down to the 1st floor. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- == First Floor Hallway == [ ] Sub Goal: Use Staircase C to go down to the basement. Do not mess with elevator once again since there is a shibito inside. Crouch then walk toward the Operating Room further down the hall and step inside. == Operating Room == [ ] Sub Goal: Distract the Shibito with the vital signs monitor. A shibito has her back turned in here, so she won't notice Bella if you stay in a crouched position while moving. Approach the set of curtains behind the shibito. The vital signs monitor to the shibito's right will suddenly turn on and she will walk over to it to shut it off. When she walks over to it, quickly press against the curtains to get a "Pass Through" command. Pass through the curtains then crouch and move quickly down the right hall then enter the room through the open door at the end of the hall. == Surgery Prep Room == Quickly open the door at the other end of this room then exit out to the hallway on the other side of the closed gate outside. If you plan on staying in this hall then shut the door behind Bella because the shibito will walk into the Surgery Prep Room after switching off the vital signs monitor. If you decide to hide outside of the Operating Room while the shibito checks the monitor for the first time, then you'll need to wait for the shibito to enter the Surgery Prep Room then run over to the vital signs monitor and switch it on manually with the on-screen command that will appear while standing next to it. Either way, you'll have to go through the same method described above in order to get to the hallway on the other side of the Surgery Prep Room. [X] Sub Goal: Distract the Shibito with the vital signs monitor. COMPLETE While in the hallway outside the Surgery Prep Room, move down Staircase C to continue toward the Basement. [X] Sub Goal: Use Staircase C to go down to the basement. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- == Basement Hallway == [ ] Sub Goal: Use Staircase A to head up to the first floor. The door to the left is locked. The only scary thing down here so far is that mannequin figure near the piled boxes. Those things creep me out now for some reason that only Konami and Silent Hill fans know of. Move down the hall to the north. There is a locker near the left wall that can be hidden inside, but you don't need it at the moment. Move toward the corner up ahead and stay behind the corner. A nurse shibito will exit from the Incinerator Room then walk down the hall to the west and enter the room near the end of that hall. Crouch and move down the hall then enter the Incinerator Room. == Incinerator Room == There are some metal buckets in here that can so very easily be knocked over since they are stacked up next to a key item. Try to avoid the stack of barrels then move toward the key on the shelf and pick up the !!RECEPTION KEY!!. If you happen to knock over the barrels and alarm the shibito in the room down the hall then quickly hide inside of the incinerator and she shouldn't notice Bella. If she does notice Bella while Bella steps into the incinerator then, well, I'm sure you can imagine what happens. The shibito in the room down the hall has her back turned while sitting at a desk, so you can easily sneak right by her. The Locker Room on the side of the hall only has some lockers inside, one of which can be used as a hiding place. Sneak all the way down the west end of the hall and move up Staircase A. [X] Sub Goal: Use Staircase A to head up to the first floor. COMPLETE == First Floor Hallway == Neither of the restrooms on this floor hold anything special. Unlock the reception door on the far left side of the hall. If you want to get an extra archive file then return to the staircase and move up to the third floor. DON'T move out onto the third floor right away since a nurse shibito paces back and forth on the third floor. Crouch on the stairs and sight jack the nurse shibito that prowls the third floor hallway. She will move back and forth between Room 303, the outside walkway in the northwest and the Nurse Station. It is best to keep her sight jacked while you move on this floor. She CANNOT see Bella if Bella remains crouched near the bottom of the stairs, so use that location as your lookout point for studying her movements. Your main goal is to get into the Nurse Station, which is always locked except for when the nurse shibito opens the door. She will always close the door behind her while leaving though. Wait for the nurse shibito to walk out to the outside walkway or enter the nurse station then quickly walk over to Room 301 and open the door then- ahhh, the damn mannequins! Yeah, there is a mannequin staring Bella right in the face when she first enters. Anyway, enter Room 301. There is a nurse call button on the table inside. Walk toward the nurse call button to get an action icon then press the button to call the nurse shibito toward the room. Hide under the bed on the right side of the room. The nurse shibito will walk toward the room and peer into the Nurse Station to see the nurse call going off then suddenly she will run into Room 301 and turn it off. She will leave the room and close the door then walk to the Nurse Station. She will always enter the Nurse Station after the button is pressed. Quickly open the door to Room 301 but don't exit. Turn around and wait for the nurse shibito to enter the Nurse Station (watch through sight jack). Once the nurse shibito enters the Nurse Station, press the nurse call button again. Quickly run out of the room then return to the staircase and wait near the bottom. The nurse shibito will leave the Nurse Station but she will leave the door open! Wait for her to run toward Room 301 then quickly run into the Nurse Station. Pick up the ++HOSPITAL PATIENT'S LETTER++ from the desk in the Nurse Station then run out. Quickly return to the staircase and move down it or you could run to the outside walkway and fall through the opening in the floor on the right side to land on the outside walkway of the second floor. Go back to the first floor reception to continue onwards. == Reception == Walk toward the intercom on the desk off to the left after entering the reception office then press X while near it to use the "Call for help" command to trigger a cutscene. [X] Goal: Call for help from Reception. COMPLETE ++MELISSA GALE'S LOCKET++ and ++SOL JACKSON'S PRESS BADGE++ will be received at the end of the cutscene. [ ] Goal: Escape using the Employee Staircase in the basement. [ ] Sub Goal: Distract the Shibito with something in the Kitchen. [ ] Sub Goal: Pass through the Administration Office. Well, it seems as if Sol has finally caught up with Bella! You can catch a glimpse of Sol if you run over to the front sliding glass doors in the Waiting Room outside of the reception office. Sight jack him and watch his entry to the hospital if you want - it's quite interesting. He will attempt to open the door across from the sliding doors but boxes are in the way to prevent him from entering. Little does he know that he just bought Bella a ticket out of the hospital by doing this. Only move up the stairs if you want to see an extra room in the hospital just for the heck of it. Sol will move through a window on the second floor and unlock the door to the previously locked Room 203 to gain entry to the hospital. Quickly run up to the second floor and wait inside the west restroom and stay behind the section of wall next to the door then keep the door to Room 203 within the camera angle. Once Sol bursts through the door, he will run down the stairs to the first floor in his attempt to find Bella. Move outside of the restroom once he runs down the stairs then enter Room 203. Strangely, there is not a thing to be gained by doing this however. This next part has to be done fast since Sol is working his way into the hospital starting from the second floor during this whole segment and he will be moving throughout the halls eventually. Return to the basement via the staircase outside the reception office. == First Floor Basement == The female shibito that Bella snuck by earlier will have her side to the stairs, so wait for her to walk toward the Administration Office that she entered earlier. Stay behind her and wait for her to enter the Administration Office then quickly crouch and move by her and open the door down the hall then enter the Kitchen beside the office. You can actually sneak behind her before she enters the office if you want since she does stand outside the doorway of it for quite some time. == Kitchen == Find the kitchen timer on the metal tray inside the kitchen then stand near it to receive a command to "Set kitchen timer". Set the timer and move back out into the hallway then wait for it to go off. [X] Sub Goal: Distract the Shibito with something in the Kitchen. COMPLETE == Basement Hallway == Crouch near the doorway of the Administration Office and wait for the female shibito to walk toward the kitchen then quickly crouch walk into the Administration Office and open the door on the south wall. Exit out to the hallway on the other side then turn back around and shut the door. DON'T leave that door open! You'll have the nurse shibito on the other side along with Sol eventually. Well, you really could just hurry up and get to your destination quick instead of shutting the door though - your choice. [X] Sub Goal: Pass through the Administration Office. COMPLETE Run down the south corridor while in the current hallway to find the employee staircase. Run to the top of the employee staircase. Move toward the partially opened door with boxes piled against it and use the "Squeeze Through" command to trigger a cutscene that will end this chapter! [X] Goal: Escape using the Employee Staircase in the basement. COMPLETE It should be noted that Sol's pattern changes quite a bit once Bella runs to the basement. He will use the elevator to move between the first floor and the second floor while in pursuit of Bella. It's quite interesting to sight jack him in a safe zone (next to the destination door) and watch him as he searches. His phrases are rather creepy. If you want, you can actually gain access to the elevator while he is searching around the various floors, but it's not going to get you any secret item or anything. The tutorial for communicating with a partner will appear at the beginning of this chapter. You'll have to use D-pad right to toggle between a "Come here" and "Wait" command, which are not really of that much use in this chapter. It doesn't matter if Howard keeps Miyako with him or not really since she will get discovered anyway at one part. It is best to tell Miyako to wait at the starting of this area and journey to the north without her for now. Howard is already facing the right way, so head north to the path up ahead behind Miyako. This area looks really big, but it is rather linear because there are parts that are cut off and only one real way to reach your destination. Don't head down the path to the northeast since that way will only lead you to a group of shibito that are working near a metal shed. Keep that metal shed (Dilapidated Shed) in mind! == East Fields == Move up the first path to the northwest and step up onto the raised portion next to the red barrel then walk against the hill with the red barrel to make Howard pull up on top of the hill. There is a single shibito moving around the hill area up above. He will stop and crouch quite a bit while gardening and you can easily get by him as he turns his back to you. You don't have to climb on top of the hill where he is, you can easily just crouch and move alongside the hill then move down the path and climb up to the first raised area on the left after the long stretch of wall to the left. You can move toward the West Fields in the west portion of this area to get a new sub goal, or you could just continue on toward the area that I am leading you to. [ ] Sub Goal: Find a different way to reach the West Fields. Your destination is labeled on the map by a tree (looks like a branch). Sneak by the shibito along the hills then run down the path and move over to the tree along the path. Approach the tree and press X near it to "Climb (the) Tree". A cutscene will trigger and Howard will jump to the top of the hill in the west. [X] Sub Goal: Find a different way to reach the West Fields. COMPLETE [ ] Goal: Reunite with Miyako. [ ] Sub Goal: Find a weapon near Equipment Storage. [ ] Sub Goal: Get the Iron Gate open. Run down the path to the west and drop off the side of the hill. Miyako will get discovered eventually no matter where Howard left her previously. Tap the L2 button to get rid of the sight jack screen to the right and it will make this next part easier. Don't worry too much about her - she can take of herself for the moment. Move further down the path to the west. Climb the hill to the south along the path and run past the Irazu Valley Church. You'll come out on the other side of the iron gate once you move down the path to the south. Drop down the hilly area to the north and watch for the two shibito along the west side. If one of them sees you then just run toward the Equipment Storage up ahead and grab a weapon. You can choose from a --HAND RAKE (#02)--, --UMBRELLA (#15)--, --BRUSH HATCHET (#16)--,--HACKSAW (#17)--, --FROE AXE(#18)--, --GARDEN HOE(#26)--, or --GARDEN FORK (#27). The best weapon to pick up is either the brush hatchet, froe axe, the garden hoe or the garden fork because of their strength. Really the brush hatchet is the best since Howard can swing it quicker and it is just as strong as the bigger objects but I prefer to pick up the garden hoe because beating a shibito with it tends to bring a smile to my face. Knock out any shibito that attack Howard and work you way back to the south. [X] Sub Goal: Find a weapon near Equipment Storage. COMPLETE Climb back up the hills to the southwest and run back to the iron gate then attack the chain along the side of it with your weapon to knock the gate open. Fall down the East Fields and defeat any shibito that get in your way. [X] Sub Goal: Get the Iron Gate open. COMPLETE == East Fields == Miyako has run toward the metal shed (Dilapidated Shed) up the northeast path in the east fields. Run up that path and you'll find three shibito standing outside the metal shed. They all have their backs turned to Howard, so sneak up behind each one and finish it off with your current weapon. Try to stay out of view while hitting them and they won't be able to group up on Howard. Reunite with Miyako afterwards. [ ] Sub Goal: Knock over the rotting tree to make a bridge. Run up the path to the northwest and finish off the shibito that is crouching at the top. Turn to the north near that shibito and climb on top of the raised hill (with the dark rocks) to the north. Collect the ++LOCAL GUIDE TO HANUDA VILLAGE (#15)++ from the small shrine on top then hop back down. Run back to the iron gate and move through it again. == West Fields == Fall back down the hills then grab another weapon of choice if you want to switch at the Equipment Storage. A female shibito is up on the west hill but you can easily take her as long as Howard is armed. Run up the path of stairs to the west near the Equipment Storage. Stand near the tree near the gap at the end of the path and watch for the "Knock Over Tree" command then initiate the command and Howard will push it over. [X] Sub Goal: Knock over the rotting tree to make a bridge. COMPLETE Run across the tree bridge and move along the path behind it. The path will eventually split. There is a shibito down the right path and he can get very aggressive, so be careful. Remember that your last checkpoint was before climbing the tree near the beginning of this chapter! I recommend that you crouch at the bottom of the path before the split then wait for him to turn his back and pace back the other way then crouch walk toward him and defeat him. Move down the path with stairs that he came from then turn around right after moving to the bottom to see another path that is beside the path with stairs. Move down the separate path and interact with the valve handle at the end once the "Close Floodgate" command appears to seal off the floodgate below. This will unlock a special archive item in Episode 6, Chapter 4. Return to the top of the path with the stairs then run down the west path to finish up this chapter. ++AMANA'S DIARY (#16)++ will be received as the preview cutscene for the next episode plays. You will take control of Seigo as he stand on the lookout tower in the housing settlement area of Harayadori. Unlike the other characters, Seigo starts with a firearm, in this case, a --DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN (#45)--. Hold the L1 button to zoom in with the shotgun and tap either up or down on the D-pad while aiming to zoom in and out further respectively. Tap either X or R1 to fire. Just like with the handgun, hold L1 then tap /\ or flick the controller upward and to the left to reload. Seigo begins with 36 bullets altogether, so you can afford to miss just a bit. Seigo will have to reload after every two shots, so always keep this in mind while shooting and reload early if you can. At the start of this chapter, Sam will be attacked by a shibito near the Mitamura House below and the sight jacking will activate on the right side of the screen on your screen. Look downward from the railing of the tower and find the shibito as it looms over Sam then shoot it. Be sure to zoom in with the D-pad (up or down) while aiming. Try to go for a headshot but don't worry too much if you can't hit it in the head. The important part is to stop it before it gets to Sam. Sam will run down the path ahead of him after the shibito is defeated. He will suddenly stop as another shibito appears then run behind a building. The shibito that frightens Sam the second time can be shot also, but Sam moves far enough away from it where it won't hurt him. If you want to, you can sight jack Sam and watch as he runs through the buildings listed below. Sometimes he will stay in place and sometimes he will haul ass to another building but he does have a pattern as to the buildings he will enter. [X] Goal: Save Sam Monroe. COMPLETE Sam will run inside the Mitamura House first then run up the stairs. He might stay there, or he might move out the window and run through the Rice Shop next door and make his way over to the Karibna Noodle Shop. He will either stay on the bottom floor of the Noodle Shop or run upstairs. You have to hurry and get to Sam before a shibito catches up with him. It's very hard to follow his movements since you can't keep him sight jacked and shoot the many shibito at the same time. There is nothing else to do on the lookout tower once you shoot the first shibito below so climb down the ladder along the side of the tower after Sam has run away. While climbing down the tower, a new shibito will take notice of Seigo. Climb down as fast as you can and turn to try to find it. Good god, what the hell is it? It's actually a flying shibito (or Fly Shibito). Aim with L1 then work the flying shibito into your line of fire andthen shoot it out of the air. Even though the flying shibito have a gift in taking to the air, they are very weak and will almost always fall with one shot. They buzz around an area quite a bit, but they always stop eventually, allowing for a quick shot from the shotgun. Pick up a --SIGNAL FLARE (#49)-- from next to the building near the lookout tower. This may be tossed on the ground toward the ground in front of you by tapping D-pad down. These flares will attract the attention of shibito in the area and cause them to move from their current location. They can also be thrown into small areas in order to smoke a shibito out of the current area. Keep in mind that you can hold more than one of these, so always grab them when you find some extra signal flares. Move down the hill to the north. The shibito that you shot from the tower is lying to the left after you move down the hill. If you take too long in the current area then it will get up and attack Seigo. Speaking of which, the rate at which the shibito get up seems incredibly fast for this area, so try to make it through quickly! Pick up the knocked out shibito's --CROWBAR (#28)-- to add it to your archive list. DON'T leave the double-barreled shotgun however unless you simply like challenge. The path to the north is your main destination, but you need to find Sam first. There is also a shibito with a hunting rifle down the north path staring directly toward your direction, so don't go that way for the moment unless you want to get shot. Step out to the south and find the flying shibito that patrols in between the buildings up in the air near the Mitamura House and shoot him down. There is a flying shibito that patrols the area in between the rice shop up ahead and another shibito that carries a --BROADAXE (#38)-- and paces back and forth between the Mitamura House and the Rice Shop. The shibito with the broadaxe can be a problem so watch for him while moving around in this area. Enter the Mitamura House and search it to see if Sam is inside. Run to the back of it (north side) and move up the stairs. If he isn't here, then jump down the platforms through the outside window on the west side. There might be a flying shibito out here, so get ready to shoot him. Run through the Rice Shop and make your way to the Karibna Noodle Shop. Note: If you can make it to the Karibna Noodle Shop before the policeman shibito, then you will be able to perform a step that will unlock an archive file in a later episode. While on the Lookout Tower with Seigo, quickly shoot the shibito that attacks Sam then climb down the ladder and defeat the flying shibito. Run all the way over to the Karibna Noodle Shop. Seigo must make it to the noodle shop before the policeman shibito eats the bowl of noodles. Walk over to the bowl of noodles and be sure to collect the Hanumen Noodles archive file then aim your gun at the bowl of noodles and shoot the bowl to ++DESTROY THE BOWL OF NOODLE++ and fulfill the requirements for an archive file in Episode 7, Chapter 2. Now the policeman will still be hungry in that particular chapter! == Karibna Noodle Shop == A police officer shibito may be inside and a flying shibito will be hovering near the south wall of the noodle shop. Shoot both of them and enter the shop. Approach the bowl of noodles on the table off to the right after entering the bottom floor of the shop then examine it to collect the recipe for ++HANUMEN NOODLES (#18)++. If you haven't caught up with Sam by this time then he should be upstairs in this noodle shop, so run up the stairs and find him. A new goal will be issued once Sam is found. -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Goal: Reach the Road Kirasakai with Sam Monroe. Return to the Mitamura House down the hill from the Lookout Tower. == Mitamura House == Run out the back entrance of the house (in the north) and move to the far north side of the Mutsui House in the north. == Outside Mutsui House == Stand at the bottom of the steps outside the house then grab a signal flare if you don't have one. Toss the signal flare up to the top of the path up above the steps and the flare will draw out the shibito with the hunting rifle from his position in the north. Keep your shotgun aimed toward the flare and watch for him to step out from the left side then shoot him. Run up the steps and pick up the shibito's --HUNTING RIFLE (#47)--. The bad part about this firearm is that you have no ammo for it, so it is useless to Seigo but it will be added to your archive by grabbing it. Move along the path to the north in order to reach the Road to Kirasakai. [X] Goal: Reach the Road Kirasakai with Sam Monroe. [ ] Goal: Find a way to escape. [ ] Sub Goal: Evade the pursuing Shibito. Miyako and Howard will be outside of the Detached Room as this chapter begins. The shibito from the cutscene is inside the Detached Room and facing the doorway to the left of where you start. The best way to approach this part from the beginning is to hide in the south corner near the bushes to the west of the "Entrance" as labeled on the map. While hiding here, the usual "Wait" command for Miyako will change to "Hide" so issue the command for her to hide. The shibito from the cutscene will be aggravated and will move out of the Detached Room in a few seconds, so be sure to hide beside the Entrance. He will move outside then look around a bit. Soon, he will move down the path behind the big building (Ito House) - this is your cue to follow behind him and sneak up on him then attack him with Howard's currently equipped --IRON POKER (#03). Pick up the shibito's --SLEDGEHAMMER (#29)-- after he is defeated. There is also a piece of --FIREWOOD (#11)-- leaning against the backside of the Ito House near the Detached House. [X] Sub Goal: Evade the pursuing Shitbito. COMPLETE [ ] Sub Goal: Find a way into the Ito House. Run back to the Detached House and find the !!CLOSET KEY!! inside the house on the west side in a set of drawers on the floor. Run back outside then get Miyako to follow Howard once again and move around to the southeast side of the Ito House. There is a shibito that is leaned over and gardening on this side. Either sneak past her or sneak behind her and knock her out with the sledgehammer. Walk against the southeast side of the big building to receive a "Climb Under" command. Go ahead and climb under the house for a cutscene. [X] Sub Goal: Find a way into the Ito House. COMPLETE == Inside the Ito House == [ ] Goal: Climb to the roof from the Balcony on the 2nd floor. A shibito will walk past the sliding door on the right side of the room as Howard and Miyako start out in the house. If you look to the left there is a altar sealed with a wire in the Altar Room. This can be opened with some wire cutters. Move toward the corridor directly ahead then turn to the left to find a locked closet. If you grabbed the closet key from outside then unlock and open the door. Pick up the !!BROKEN WIRE CUTTERS (A)!! from the shelf to the left inside of the closet. Two of these wire cutters must be found in order to cut the wires on the altar in the Altar Room. You need to follow behind the shibito in the outside hallway and knock her out. She will move into the kitchen down the hall then come back to the room where Miyako and Howard currently are, so she will see you if you stay in the room. Pick up her --KITCHEN KNIFE (#21)-- to add it to the archive menu then pick up the sledgehammer again. Don't run around the area near the kitchen since there is a shibito in the bathroom down the hall that can easily hear Howard if you make too much noise. Enter the first lit up room (Living Room) with the fan to the right in the hall after defeating the female shibito and pick up the --HOT WATER POT (#09) off the table in the center of the room in order to add it to your archive. Go back out into the hall and move to the front of the house (west). Walk up to the clock on the wall to the left of the door that leads into the kitchen and examine the clock for another sub goal. [ ] Sub Goal: Find a way to get the clock to work. If you enter the kitchen, you'll find a frying pans on the stove. The door in the kitchen will only lead you back outside. There are several doors that can be unlocked in this house that will lead you back outside, but there is no reason to return outside again unless you forgot to pick up the Closet Key in the Detached House in the west. If you happen to die then you will start at the checkpoint inside of the house without the Closet Key, so then you will have to return outside to collect it from the Detached House once again. Almost directly across from the clock is a sliding door that will lead into the Front Study. There is a shibito inside with handgun and he will shoot you immediately if you enter while he is staring at the door. He will look down at a key on a table inside for a brief few seconds then look back toward the door. Sight jack him and wait for him to stare down at the key then immediately open the door and rush him then beat him down with the sledgehammer or frying pan. You have to be quick and you'll probably get shot once. Grab his .38 Caliber Handgun (w/12 rounds) and pick up the --BOWLING TROPHY (#13)-- from the desk in the back and the --ASHTRAY (#04)-- and !!BEDROOM KEY!! from the table in the middle of the room. Move back outside then shut the door just in case he wakes up before you leave. There is a way to lure the shibito with the handgun outside of the Front Study eliminating the need to rush him, but it is really a lot of work for nothing and by then, you won't even need the handgun. Basically, you have to get the clock winding key and use the clock to lure him out. I'll go into more detail below after you get the Clock Winding Key. The bathroom down the corridor to the north actually has a shibito sitting in a bathtub full of bloody water. He will get up as soon as you enter and try to attack. There is nothing in the bathroom or the restroom of use, so don't even enter them unless you want to see a shibito stumble out of bathtub. Find the staircase near the entrance and move to the second floor but stay crouched since there is a shibito in the Daughter's Room on the second floor. Open the door to the Spare Room on the west side and pick up the !!BROKEN WIRE CUTTERS (B)!! from off the cabinet inside. This will allow you to cut the wires on the shrine in the bottom room where Howard and Miyako first started. Have Miyako hide in either the cabinet or the closet in the Spare Room to keep her safe. Head further down the corridor to the east and open the door to the Daughter's Room. A shibito will be sitting at the desk inside and will notice Howard shortly after he opens the door, so shoot her and pick up her --ALTO RECORDER (#07)--. There is a --WHITE GUITAR (#34)-- leaning against the east wall of the room as well. Pick up the !!CLOCK WINDING KEY!! from the desk that the shibito was sitting at. Exit the room. The door on the east side of the hall can be unlocked if you have the Bedroom Key and moving out the window inside will lead you to your main destination, but if you want an extra archive item, you'll need to go back downstairs. If you haven't defeated the shibito and gotten the Bedroom Key inside of the Front Study room then stand near the clock on the wall to the left of the kitchen door and hold the /\ button to use the clock winding key on the clock to wind it all the way up. Once the clock is set to go off, enter the room with the Living Room to the side then hide in the closet. When the clock goes off, the shibito inside the Front Study will walk outside. He will walk by the room where you are hiding then look inside. After staring for a few seconds, he will continue on down the hall to the east. When he walks away, quickly get out of the closet then sneak up behind him and knock him out. Using the clock to lure him out really provides a lot of extra work for you compared to simply rushing him since you'll have to worry about the shibito on the bottom floor and top floor waking up while you attempt to hide and knock out the one with the gun. I wouldn't advise using this method unless you want to give the clock key some use. The shibito with the gun will actually go into the bathroom at the end of the hall if you wait long enough. He will not remain in the Front Study from now on whenever he goes back in there. [X] Sub Goal: Find a way to get the clock to work. COMPLETE Reenter the room with the altar covered in wires (Altar Room) and cut the wires by standing next to the shrine and initiating the command (make sure you have wire cutters A and B). Collect the ++ALTAR DISPLAY (#19)++ once the altar opens. Run back up the stairs and call Miyako out of hiding. Unlock the door to the bedroom on the east side of the hall then step out onto the walkway outside the east window. [X] Goal: Climb to the roof from the Balcony on the 2nd floor. COMPLETE [ ] Sub Goal: Follow the roof around to escape over the Front Gate. Pick up the --MATRESS BEATER (#08)-- near the left railing then move out onto the rooftop past the broken railing directly ahead. Step across the rooftop and turn toward either direction then step to the northeast portion of the top of the house. Turning left is a bit quicker. In the northeast, if you look at your map, you'll see a path right near the rooftop. Find the red metal drum across from the rooftop to easily spot the path while looking through the trees. Walk toward the path and Howard will automatically jump toward the high path. Miyako will follow behind Howard. Follow the path as it loops to the south. You'll eventually reach the end then you'll have to turn to the left (east) and jump on top of the roof of the Detached House on the west side of the map. Walk to the end of the Detached House roof (to the south) then hop over to the path on the south side of the map. Follow this trail to the south and fall off the side at the end. [X] Sub Goal: Follow the roof around to escape over the Front Gate. COMPLETE You'll fall to the steps along the path outside of the Ito House front gate. Run to the south to reach the Road to Karuwari and trigger a cutscene that will finish this chapter. [X] Goal: Find a way to escape. [ ] Sub Goal: Sneak into the hospital. Melissa will start at the very front of Saiga Hospital. She begins this chapter with four signal flares which will come in use early in this chapter. The automatic doors off to the left still don't work, the door that Bella squeezed out of earlier still has boxes piled against it from the other side and the door through the gate up ahead to the right is locked. Well, damn. If you sight jacked Sol earlier with Bella, then you should have a good idea of how to enter. Run straight ahead and climb on top of the metal crates. Walk to the left then climb up to the walkway along the side of the second floor. Move to the west along the walkway then find the open window on the right wall and face it to receive a "Go inside" command. Issue the command to gain entry. [X] Sub Goal: Sneak into the hospital. COMPLETE == Room 203 == [ ] Goal: Check the surrounding area from the roof. Open the door to the outside hallway for a cutscene. As if things could not anymore creepy in this game, I tell you. -- CHECKPOINT -- The spider shibito that you saw in the cutscene is able to crawl along the walls and ceiling of the hallway outside. The good thing about these particular shibito is that they cannot open a door, so if this one happens to see Melissa then just enter one of the side rooms and shut the door. You can actually trap this spider shibito inside of Room 203 if you can lead it inside. The easiest and safest way to get past the spider shibito is to toss one of Melissa's signal flares into the outside hall. This will send smoke everywhere throughout the hall and completely blind the spider shibito for a few seconds. Race out the door of Room 203 and run down the stairs. If you happen to run up to the very top of the staircase then you'll get a new sub goal but you'll have to go down a few floors to fulfill it so it is rather useless to activate it unless you just want to have all the sub goals listed. There is a nurse shibito on the third floor, so I wouldn't recommend going all the way up. [ ] Sub Goal: Find the Roof Key. == 1st Floor Hallway == Take the staircase down to the first floor. You can enter the Reception Office and examine the intercom speaker to get a message that "Bella was here". Walk over to the sitting area by the automatic (entrance) doors and pick up the -- PARKING SIGN (#05)-- from near the right wall to use as a weapon. There is nothing in the two restrooms down the left side of the hall. Walk over to the closed door of the Exam Room. Sight jack the shibito inside - yeah, it's another one of those creepy crawlies. The spider shibito will look toward a key on a bed then look back toward some curtains (and the door). Wait for the spider shibito to look toward the key on the bed then open the door and toss a signal flare inside. While the spider shibito is blinded by the smoke, rush over to the !!ROOF KEY!! on the left bed and grab it. Quickly run back out of the room then shut the door - remember that the spider type cannot open doors! If the shibito attacks before you toss the flare then beat that sucker with the parking sign. [X] Sub Goal: Find the Roof Key. COMPLETE TIP: If you're fast enough, then you can actually throw a flare while on the second floor then dash out into the hall and run down the stairs, open the door to the Exam Room, grab the Rooftop Key and run out before the first field of smoke dies down. Both of the spider shibito will be stunned from a single smoke screen. This requires some intense speed though, but it is very doable! == Staircase == There is no reason to go down to the basement. The basement is sealed off by stacked boxes. Run back up the stairs then stand on the stairs below the second floor and toss a signal flare in the second floor hallway to blind the spider shibito on the ceiling. Quickly run up to the third floor. A nurse shibito prowls the corridor of the third floor so be careful. There is nothing on the second floor, so you don't need to explore it. If the nurse shibito sees Melissa then hit it upside the head with the parking sign a few times to knock it out. She will usually remain in the Nurse's Station so there is really no need to confront her. Run to the very top of the staircase then unlock the door to the rooftop. == Rooftop == Right after opening the door to the rooftop, walk over to the southeast side of the roof, near the side without railing to trigger a cutscene. [X] Goal: Check the surrounding area from the roof. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Goal: Warn Sam Monroe about the crisis. [ ] Sub Goal: Check the room number by sight jacking Seigo Saiga. [ ] Sub Goal: Call from the phone in the Surgery Prep Room. Activate your sight jack then switch vision to Seigo Saiga. Seigo and Sam will be having a rather interesting conversation as they settle into the room below. Wait until Seigo walks over to and looks down at the phone on the table to his right and the camera will zoom in on the number "201" on the phone. You might want to listen to their conversation fully if this is you first time through. They will eventually repeat the conversation after a while. Notice the constant strange gesturing between the two, especially Sam - very Resident Evil (1-3) like. Haha. TIP: You can actually lock-on to Seigo's view and go about entering the east side of the hospital if you want to in order to make this part quicker. [X] Sub Goal: Check the room number by sight jacking Seigo Saiga. COMPLETE == East Roof == Hop down onto the metal crate below the side of the rooftop without railing on the southeast side of the roof then fall to the lower portion of the roof. Open the door to Staircase C then move down the stairs. Walk down the hall then open the first door up ahead to enter the Research Lab in the south portion of the hallway. Move over to the left hospital cart beside the tiled bed inside the Research Lab and examine the tray to receive ++SEIGO SAIGA'S NOTEBOOK (#20)++. The other door in the outside corridor is locked. Exit the room then walk out into the hallway ahead (to the north) to trigger a cutscene. [ ] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito Brain to stop the Spider Shibito. Wow, just wow... what horrid imagery in that last cutscene! All shibito brains look horrid looking, much like this one. The doors to Rooms 206 and 205 are both locked and there is nothing in the Nurse's Station. You can either take the elevator or stairs down to the first floor. In order to defeat the shibito brain, you'll have to take the elevator down to the basement. The main goal of this mission can be performed without defeating the shibito brain as long as you have a signal flare or the parking sign weapon, so there is really no need to go down to the basement. If you choose to take on the shibito brain, once you take the elevator down to the basement floor, quickly toss a signal flare as the elevator doors open. There is a spider shibito in the outside corridor. In order to defeat the shibito brain, you really need to have the parking sign. There is an iron poker in a bucket inside the Incinerator Room and a kitchen knife on the tray in the Kitchen (where the kitchen clock was with Bella). If you run over to the Administration office, you should be able to see the nurse wheeling the shibito brain away in the wheelchair at the end of the corridor that leads to the Employee Staircase. Quickly run down that corridor then beat down the nurse shibito with Melissa's parking sign or other weapon. After she is knocked out, attack the shibito brain from the front side of the wheelchair and completely knock it out. Defeating the shibito brain will trigger a cutscene. [X] Sub Goal: Knock out the Shibito Brain to stop the Spider Shibito. All of the spider shibito in the hospital are now completely knocked out for a good little while (around 1 to 2 minutes), though they WILL get back if you take too long in completing the final objective. Be sure to pick up the -- SCALPEL (#20)-- from the body of the nurse shibito to add it to your archive. The nurse shibito will still get back up like normal if you take too long, so don't stay in the area for a real long time. Return to the first floor via the elevator and walk toward the operating room door. == Operating Room == Enter the Operating Room on the first floor. If you knocked out the shibito brain then both of the spider shibito in this room will be knocked out, so walk around the side of the curtain and enter the Surgery Prep Room and dial "201" on the phone inside to end this chapter! Don't take too long however since the spider shibito will eventually get back up if you take an extremely long time. If you didn't knock out the shibito brain then there will be a spider shibito behind the curtains in here. If you alarm it then it will run into the nearby Surgery Prep Room and tell its buddy how you brutally knocked out its companions with a parking sign then two spider shibito will attack Melissa. Either toss a signal flare into the room or beat them down with Melissa's trusty parking sign. Thankfully, they will bunch up to where only one can get down the corridor at a time, so it isn't really that hard to knock them both out with the parking sign. Quickly, and I mean QUICKLY, enter the Surgery Prep Room through the door in the back of the Operating Room and use the phone on the counter. Dial "201" as fast as you can to complete the mission! The spider shibito wake up extremely quick if you haven't knocked out the shibito brain in the basement, so you can't afford to waste time at this part if that is the case. If you threw a signal flare then you'll have to be just as fast since the smoke will die quickly. [X] Sub Goal: Call from the phone in the Surgery Prep Room. Mission Accomplished. Directly after the Chapter 3 cutscene, you will receive ++YUKIE KOBE'S PLANNER (21)++ MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. _____ _____ __________________ _____ _____ _____ _/ CH1 \_/ CH2 \_/ C H A P T E R 3 \_/ CH4 \_/ CH5 \_/ PRE \__________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cutscene chapter (non-playable) _____ _____ _____ __________________ _____ _____ [C054] _/ CH1 \_/ CH2 \_/ CH3 \_/ C H A P T E R 4 \_/ CH5 \_/ PRE \__________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - August 4th Harayadori, Housing Settlement 06:06:01 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Character(s): Amana Mission Objective: Recall lost memories. [ ] Goal: Take back the Brooch. [ ] Sub Goal: Follow the Shibito to find out where she puts the Brooch. == Graveyard == The female shibito is behind the storage shed that Amana starts out behind. Crouch and sneak behind her then follow her. She will not turn as she walks down the path to the west. She will eventually hop onto the bus stop by jumping from the side without railing along the path. Wait for her to hop onto the bus stop roof then hop below it and have Amana do the same. == Housing Settlement == Keep following the female shibito as she moves up the hill to the east of the Mitamura House. The other shibito around the housing settlement area will not notice Amana if you keep up with the female shibito. The female shibito will turn to move up the hill that leads to the Lookout Tower up above. Don't follow her up the hill, make sure to stay at the bottom of the hill and sight jack her as she moves up the hill. A male shibito will be facing your way in front of the building up above and he will see Amana if you happen to follow the female shibito up the steps. The female shibito will stand in front of the male shibito and the male will open the door to the building (Worship Hall) for her. As the male shibito steps inside the building to lead the way, the female will follow so move up the hill at that time and enter the building while they walk to the back of the building. == Worship Hall == Keep the female shibito sight jacked. They will move down a staircase in the back of the building that will lead them underground. The female shibito will place the brooch in a box below a statue then she will walk away from it and a group of three shibito will stand and worship the statue. Find the three signal flares next to the closet in the upstairs room of the Worship Hall. At this point, you will have to move down the stairs and walk up to the area behind the shibito if you want to get credit for the first sub goal and receive a new one. [X] Sub Goal: Follow the Shibito to find out where she puts the Brooch. COMPLETE [ ] Sub Goal: Toss a Signal Flare into the well. There is really no point in moving down the stairs unless you just want to trigger the next sub goal and finish the other. Make sure you have grabbed the flares then walk over to the well outside of the building and face it to get a "Toss Flare" command while standing in front of it. Toss a flare down the well then quickly hide inside of the closet in the Worship Hall building. [X] Sub Goal: Toss a Signal Flare into the well. COMPLETE Sight jack one of the shibito below and watch as they begin to run up the stairs and eventually exit the underground area. Count all three of them as they run by while you look out the closet door. Step outside of the closet once they exit the Worship Hall building and run down the steps in the back of the building. Walk toward the brooch and the statue for a cutscene. A tutorial for the "Past Sight" ability will appear after the cutscene involving the brooch. This ability will allow Amana to see memories of past events in a location by sight jacking when the sides of the screen glow much like if an enemy has spotted you and (if you have a Dual Shock 3) when the controller vibrates. [X] Goal: Take back the Brooch. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Goal: Investigate the memories of the past. [ ] Sub Goal: Find a map from the past. [ ] Sub Goal: Investigate the Mitamura House. [ ] Sub Goal: Explore the memories around the gateway. Amana will receive the ++MANA CROSS BROOCH (#22)++ archive file after the cutscene. Walk up to the statue to get an extra command. Press the X button to "Break the Seal". A puzzle will be showcased below the statue after performing this action. The puzzle consists of three carvings that appear in the middle, a circular stone around the three carvings and a triangular stone piece around the circular stone. Tap the right analog to rotate the outer triangular stone piece and tap the left analog to rotate the inner circular piece. Rotating the inner and outer pieces will rotate the pictures in the middle circle and these pieces need to be aligned in a certain way before the seal can be placed. There is absolutely no way that I can help you with this puzzle since the solutions are completely random. I'll have to lead you to the solution and you'll have to write down or remember the solution and solve it on your own. There are two of these puzzles. Turn around and grab a beer bottle from the left side of the current tunnel then begin to move out of the tunnel. Move back up the stairs. When you walk into the room on the top floor, the screen will glow on all sides as if you have been spotted by an enemy but this is simply a !!PAST SIGHT!! area, so sight jack when the glow appears and tap R1 twice to cycle through the outside shibito then eventually see a picture of a map on the right side of the screen. [X] Sub Goal: Find a map from the past. COMPLETE This particular past sight shows a map of the housing settlement area with a room in the Mitamura House circled on the map. -- CHECKPOINT -- The shibito outside - the three that fled from the tunnel - will almost instantly notice Amana when you leave the Worship Hall. Sometimes you can sneak up on the female near the railing and knock her out with a beer bottle, but sometimes she will turn as Amana walks out. Make sure to have a beer bottle armed then walk toward the first female near the railing and defeat her quickly. The other two will run up the hill, so run toward the hill yourself and fight them off with the broken beer bottle. Work your way toward the Mitamura House. There is a flying shibito that hovers around near the front and back entrance, so he might see Amana. If he does, don't panic. Wait for him to swoop down next to Amana to attack then attack him. He is very weak and will nearly fall with one combo (usually takes four hits). You can also escape from the flying shibito by entering any of the buildings around this area since they cannot follow through the openings. Enter the Mitamura House through the entrance door on the south side then turn left at the first doorway and move into the room on the west side. There is a female shibito that wanders this house and she is armed with a --DAGGER (#22)-- , so be sure to knock her out with your weapon and take the dagger. In the room to the left, another !!PAST SIGHT!! warning will occur, so use your sight jack inside and find the tablet with a random person's name on it. The name of this person will help you to solve the riddle of which gravestone to check in the graveyard, so write it down. There are only five names and five gravestone and you can check them all in the graveyard, so it's not that big of a deal if you don't write it down. [X] Sub Goal: Investigate the Mitamura House. COMPLETE -- CHECKPOINT -- [ ] Sub Goal: Find the seal in the graveyard. The third !!PAST SIGHT!! is a little tricky to find. Run out of the Mitamura House then approach the area in the far south past the Karibna Noodle Shop. There is a rock path to the left side of the destroyed street that will lead to a barred gateway. Run along the rock path to the east then sight jack near the gateway and lock onto targets until you see a vision of a barred gate with two seals on the right side of the screen. This past sight actually offers the solution for both seal puzzles that Amana must solve in the Worship House and in the Graveyard. Lock-on to the vision to see both of the circular carvings more closely. You'll have to write down the symbols displayed on the vision of the gate in order to solve the puzzle in the Worship House and the puzzle in the Graveyard. The left carving is the solution for the puzzle below the Worship House and the right carving is the solution for the Graveyard puzzle. If you can remember one picture's location for each of the two carvings then you will have a very good chance of solving each one without even having to worry about the other pictures - this will lead to some slight trial and error however. There are images on the right wall during the vision also but these don't really help out any for the solution to the puzzles. Before returning to the Worship Hall to solve the puzzle, enter the Karibna Noodle Shop and pick up the --NOODLE CLEAVER (#19)-- from the low shelf behind the main counter on the first floor. A shibito armed with a sledgehammer wonders the noodle shop, so be careful. Amana can't take the sledgehammer but the noodle cleaver is more powerful than any of the other weapons that you have found. Run all the way back to the Worship Hall and solve the puzzle in the tunnel below it. Some shibito will attack along the way, but if you have a weapon, preferably the noodle cleaver, they won't be much of a problem. Once again, the puzzle is random so I cannot help you with this. Write down the solution from the gateway past sight and tap the right and left analog to the left and right to align the middle pictures up the same way that they were displayed on the gateway past sight vision. The puzzle consists of three carvings that appear in the middle, a circular stone around the three carvings and a triangular stone piece around the circular stone. Tap the right analog to rotate the outer triangular stone piece and tap the left analog to rotate the inner circular piece. Rotating the inner and outer pieces will rotate the pictures in the middle circle and these pieces need to be aligned in a certain way as displayed on the past sight vision from the gateway in the south before the seal can be placed. Once the pictures are aligned, press the X button to place the seal then the middle portion of the carving will suddenly have a flame in the middle of it to confirm your success. -- CHECKPOINT -- Run back to the Graveyard up the path to the north of the Karibna Noodle Shop. A !!PAST SIGHT!! glow will occur shortly after Amana enters the Graveyard but this time there are actually five
