DarkZero: Sony has announced they will be adding more songs to the Singstore this Thursday (24th July). It is believed this list of songs will only be available on the Euro store, with a different selection hitting the US one. This time there 19 English language songs to download, and a few more for other European countries. Sony Europe boss David Reeves has told Eurogamer to expect "the next generation of SingStar" at Games Convention.

We were speaking to Reeves at an event in Santa Monica today and asked for his views on Microsoft's new karaoke game Lips.

"If you come to Leipzig, you will see the next generation of SingStar," he told us. "That's all I will say."

SingStar senior producer Tasmin Lucas tells Paris GDC attendees how Sony London has been able to crank out over 100 SingStar titles in the past four years.

If you've had trouble keeping up with the number of SingStar titles, it's because "by the end of the year, we'll have actually released 116 discs in four years," Tasmin Lucas, senior producer for Sony's SingStar franchise told professionals at the Paris Game Developers Conference on Monday.

A Sony spokesperson told MTV Multiplayer that the SingStar Web Video Portal, already available in different parts of the world through the official website, will soon be available in North America.

"We are working on some localization issues to integrate globally and it should be ready to roll out in the US shortly," said the Sony spokesperson. The SingStar video portal lets you watch SingStar user performances and vote for them.

Indeed, you can now make use of SingStar Volume 2's best new feature, PSP connectivity, without buying Volume 2. Install the update patch, switch on Remote Play and if the SingStar disk is in the PS3 you can browse not only your media (videos, audio etc) stored on the PS3 harddrive but also access the SingStore and start your downloads going before you even get home from work.

Speaking at Sony's PlayStation Day in London, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves has revealed that SingStar for the PlayStation 3 has sold in excess of 220,000 units.

Users of SingStar for PS3 have also been buying plenty of extra songs from the SingStore, with total sales having already reached more than one million units.
