EuroGamer - A grateful father is attempting a 24-hour non-stop solo SingStar marathon this April to raise cash for the hospital that helped save his infant daughter.

29-year-old Norwich man Julian Hill is submitting himself to the ordeal as a 'thank you' to London's Great Ormond Street children's hospital, who last year successfully treated his seriously ill one-year-old, Amelia.

Born with a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which reduces the organ's ability to circulate oxygenated blood, she urgently needed an operation to save her life.

Great Ormond Street duly stepped up, and following grueling open-heart surgery she's now back at home and thriving.

Hill's world record attempt takes place in the Ambassador's Bloomsbury Hotel in London on 13th April. He's managed to recruit Sony to his cause, with the SingStar publisher providing all the equipment he needs.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has said it's to cancel multiple titles in development across its UK studios, which are responsible for the MotorStorm, WipEout and SingStar series, among others. It has been decided that production on a small number of projects within London Studio, Studio Liverpool, and Evolution Studios will be streamlined or closed due to a portfolio review and project prioritisation, the firm told GI.biz in a statement.

PushSquare: In Europe, SingStar is amazing. That's because the SingStore is packed with piles and piles and piles of good karaoke DLC. In the US, SingStar is less amazing. That's because there's hardly any great DLC across the pond. Thanks to a deal between Sony and Universal Music, that's all set to change.

Singstar was very nearly a game set in 'aboriginal dreamtime'. That's according to Jamie Macdonald, former VP of development at SCE and now senior VP at Codemasters, who confesses: "The central mechanic involved singing to trees in a forest."
