A ton of new details on Harmonix's Rock Band have swaggered onto the internet, revealing the likes of four-player online play on both PS3 and Xbox 360 and that the game's drums are insane. Apparently.
Harmonix has posted an open letter to future rockers asking what they'd like to see in their upcoming title Rock Band. Other than letting gamers know that the Rock Band guitar will be modeled after the Fender Stratocaster, gamers really don't know much more about the title. Obviously, the song list isn't complete yet and Harmonix needs your help.
Ever since Activision and Harmonix went their separate ways, each announcing a new modern rhythm game -- Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band, respectively -- fans have wondered which will lead the pack. In a conference call chronicled over at Gamasutra, Activision officials explained why they believe their horse is the smart bet -- and trash talked the competition a bit.
Harmonix has confirmed for GameSpot that it has signed an exclusive deal with Fender Musical Instruments to feature their guitars exclusively in Rock Band, and to base the upcoming guitar peripheral for the game upon the company's most famous model, the Stratocaster.

Kotaku points out that EBGameStop is already on point, ready to start racking up the preorders for Harmonix's Rock Band. Not only do they list the game for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, the also list accessories for each version, along with potential prices.
Yesterday, Harmonix, Electronic Arts and MTV jointly announced Rock Band, an ambitious evolution of the game style Harmonix started with Guitar Hero. In Rock Band, players wouldn't be restricted to only the guitar and bass, as both drums and singing will also be playable instruments simultaneously. Many have figured Harmonix has been on the path to creating this game for some time, but how are they going to pull it off?
