Resistance: Fall of Man

It's got looks, it's got brains, it's got a lot of stuff to shoot. It doesn't revolutionize the genre or even introduce much new, but Resistance remains an utterly solid shooter.

Monday 20 November 2006 Without good launch software, even the hottest new console's little more than an expensive pile of plastic and silicon. Luckily, PS3's got an ace in the form of Insomniac's retro-futuristic first-person shooter Resistance: Fall of Man. Unlike most of the other PS3 games, Resistance has some serious next-gen cred. While not super innovative, Resistance features an enjoyable single-player campaign and facilitates impressively busy online shootouts. Oh, and it looks pretty ...
Resistance: Fall of Man
We came, we played, we conquered what may be the PS3's best launch title
Nov 10, 2006
The PlayStation 3 is just around the bend, and this was underscored this week not only by the arrival of our first retail system but also by a two-day trip down to Insomniac Games, where we played the living hell out of the shiny new first-person shooter, Resistance: Fall of Man. Insomniac seems proud of Resistance, even if it does seem a little unusual for such a dark, gritty game to come from the studio that brought us the funny and fuzzy Ratchet & Clank. Indeed, Insomniac is calling it the ...   » Read Full Resistance: Fall of Man preview

The year is 1951, and mankind is on the verge of extinction. After appearing suddenly in Russia, monsters known as Chimera swept across Asia and Europe like a cancer. They overwhelmed humanity with superior numbers and advanced technology. For a while they seemed contained, but then came the day they tunneled under the English Channel. Britain fell in days. Such is the world of Nathan Hale, the American G.I. who becomes the hero of Resistance: Fall of Man. Taking place in an alternate history ...   » Read Full Resistance: Fall of Man preview

[PS3] We dive in for some deathmatch action with Insomniac's shooter
Jun 19, 2006
Wednesday 10 May 2006 At last - E3 is open, we're in and we've been playing PS3. More specifically, we've been spitting bullets in Resistance: Fall of Man, the next-gen shooter from Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games. While we would have liked to get our hands dirty with a bit of solo shooting, the only thing on offer at the Sony stand was a pretty standard multiplayer deathmatch demo level - there's no single-player Resistance at the show - that pitted us against other E3 ...   » Read Full Resistance: Fall of Man preview

PS3: Blast aliens for Queen and country in this brilliantly drab shooter
May 10, 2006
We finally got a chance to play Insomniac's PS3 shooter Resistance: Fall of Man, and it's not as dramatic a departure from the cheery Ratchet & Clank series as it looks. Set in Britain in 1953 - in an alternate history where World War II never happened - it casts players as resistance fighters against aliens, called Chimera, who've wiped out much of humanity. The game itself feels like a standard first-person shooter (although with a lot more rattling and destructible environments a la Black), ...   » Read Full Resistance: Fall of Man preview
