Meet Undead Overrun. John Marston murderous, but amazing, undead multiplayer
Oct 18, 2010
Undead Nightmare’s single player is a big deal. Hell, if you’ve read our hands-on, which features zombie cougars, flaming Horses of the Apocalypse, and a rumoured six hour story (which sees you shooting the hordes of the dead with a goddamn elephant rifle) you won’t be too surprised.
What you probably don’t know, is Red Dead: Redemption’s latest DLC also has a four player co-op mode, called Undead Overrun. Oh, and it just happens to match Valve’s zombie masterpiece and World at War’s stupidly addictive mini-game for amazing multiplayer mayhem. We were lucky enough to play a few matches with Rockstar at its London offices last week. All the details inside.

Freshly unearthed details on the story, the zombies, the weapons and… mythical creatures!?
Oct 13, 2010
Before we start in, let’s just silence any misconceptions right off the bat: despite any appearances to the contrary, the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption is not a “just add zombies” mod for the hit Western game. A huge, open landscape overrun with the walking dead is the central draw, sure, but Undead Nightmare’s changes run a lot deeper than that. Everything, from the music and color palette to the weather patterns and towns, has undergone drastic changes that give the Old West a much more unsettling, apocalyptic feel. There are ridiculous new weapons to unleash on the cannibal hordes, and things you took for granted, like camping to save or fast travel, are now too dangerous even to consider.
And zombies, while a constant threat, are far from the worst things you’ll find lurking in the newly corrupted wilderness...

Second add-on pack brings new areas, new characters and flying death-hatchets to multiplayer

With less than a week to go before the trigger is pulled on the second round of downloadable content for Red Dead Redemption, publisher Rockstar Games invited us to check out the Legends and Killers pack for ourselves. Bringing with it a small host of add-ons for competitive multiplayer, the new pack boasts new maps, new characters and – perhaps most significantly – tomahawks...

Outlaws to The End brings six new missions to the game – all for free
Jun 21, 2010
If you’ve been following coverage of Red Dead Redemption, you’re probably already aware that a set of new multiplayer co-op missions, under the name Outlaws to The End, will be available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network tomorrow. You’re probably also aware that they’re free, meaning you should grab them regardless of anything we say here. What you might not know, however, is exactly what’s in store when you finish the download tomorrow...

We’ve played through the first 7 hours of the story; here’s what we thought
Apr 28, 2010
A little while ago, Red Dead Redemption publisher Rockstar approached us with an unusual offer: would we like to spend an entire day playing through the first several hours of its Wild West take on Grand Theft Auto’s free-roaming havoc? Of course, we couldn’t turn that down, especially not once we learned we were only one of a few outlets to be given the opportunity.
Above: Yeah, suck it, everyone else!
So here’s the quick summary: Redemption plays a lot like a sequel to GTA IV, building on GTA’s ideas, controls and gameplay while adding a lot that’s completely unique. And, of course, where GTA offers one enormous, dense city, Redemption gives you vast stretches of wilderness, punctuated by little towns, animals and strangers in need of your assistance. And there’s shooting. A lot of shooting. But let’s start from the beginning…

Red Dead Redemption, as you're well already well aware, is a Western. The game takes place over 100 years ago. Your weapon is a six-shooter, not a rocket launcher. You throw sticks of dynamite, not grenades. You ride a horse, not a jeep, tank or helicopter. Everything – including the multiplayer, obviously – is going to be very unlike the average action sandbox.
What surprised me during my recent hands-on demo with Redemption's multiplayer, then, were all the not-so-obvious things that were new and unique. Here are the five that made the biggest difference.

Our two-part hands-on report concludes with a look at RDR's danger-filled countryside
Jan 29, 2010
Yesterday, we brought you the details of three and a half missions we undertook in our first hands-on with Red Dead Redemption. However, while slaughtering criminals, would-be rapists and hapless miners as outlaw-turned-bounty hunter John Marston was impressive, it was far from the most ambitious thing the game attempts.

We go hands-on with Rockstar’s epic Western in the first of our two-part special
Jan 28, 2010
We’ve been desperate to get to grips with Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption since the first time we watched John Marston ride into town. And finally, we’ve been handed the reins to give this superb looking cowboy game a go.We were given a demo of one mission but by Rockstar but were handed the pad to try out two others. There was also time for us to do a heck of a lot of off-mission stuff too, which we’ll bring
