This week again sees Call of Duty: World at War and Fallout 3 dominate the charts. The number one spot is occupied by the latest COD: WAW Map Pack for the third straight week. Insomniac: R&C Future story arc our 'magnum opus' (News)

The Ratchet & Clank "Future" sub-saga is developer Insomniac's "magnum opus", according to senior community manager James Stevenson.

"Hopefully it will be our masterpiece… Not masterpiece but our key Ratchet & Clank storytelling experience. The magnum opus."

"We could do another Ratchet & Clank game. It's a huge IP, big universe and a lot of stories to tell and I'm sure it's a big property for Sony. Sony owns the IP. So, I'm sure this isn't the end for the characters, but I think players will have to see the end of the game to understand more."

Will fans have to wait longer for the next Ratchet & Clank game than they're used to?

"Well that would still imply there would be another game coming," Stevenson replied. "I can't really say."

ConnectedConsoles: There have been many rumors hitting the internet concerning platform exclusive's and whether they'll be heading over to different consoles. Especially with games such as Left 4 Dead 2, which has recently come into the headlines with rumors that it will be heading to PS3 as well as Xbox 360 and PC. Insomniac Games has created some incredible games for the PlayStation consoles over the past 15 years. Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, and Resistance are some of the well known franchises included in that line up, but it's a sin not to recognize the less famous titles the developer punched out, like Disruptor, as well. Insomniac recently announced, in fact, that they have sold an astonishing 32 million plus PlayStation exclusive games.

But while it's been known for quite some time that a new Ratchet game would be coming in 2009, details are still scarce on the title. Rumors have surfaced recently though that Insomniac is hard at work on the new title, and it may even make it's debut at the Game Developers Conference next month. Looking at Insomniac's track record, Resistance 2 was first announced in February 2008, so this rumor may hold some truth.

While Microsoft Europe seem intent on releasing a bundle to coincide with every single game released on the console over the next two months, Sony Europe are playing things a little more casual. Not so many bundles from them. Here's one they are releasing, though, and it's one that takes a slightly different approach to the standard throw-in-a-free-game deal. Seemingly destined for the Scandinavian market - having turned up unannounced on Norwegian online store Komplett, and having only Scandinavian languages on the box - this pack includes a 160GB PS3, a DualShock 3 and vouchers for four PSN games (GT5: Prologue, Quest for Booty, Last Guy & Super Stardust HD). You get all that for 4500 Krone, which is around USD$675.

A Sony of Europe representative confirmed to BritishGaming.co.uk that Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty will no longer be heading to retail stores on a Blu-Ray disc.

The 3-4 hour epilogue was released on the Playstation Store on August 21st, but was initially announced for a full retail release on September 12th.

Better start making room on your hard drive PS3 gamers, Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty is actually 3.2GB big and not 2.3GB as previously reported.

We had a bit of a shock when we went to download our review copy earlier. The 3181MB download weighs in at around 30% larger than we had been expecting.

As we reported yesterday, Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty hits PSN this Thursday with a Blu-ray release following in September.

IGN: More Ratchet and Clank Coming Fall 2009 (News)

Next Thursday marks the release of Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, the downloadable romp that extends the story that began in Ratchet & Clank Future. It turns out that not only does the game give you a new dose of platforming action, but it teases the next release as well.

After finishing the game, Insomniac tells us simply "The adventure continues Fall 2009". While we now know the date of the next release, we don't actually know what form it will be in, be it either another downloadable episode or a full-blown release, though we expect the latter. Sony representatives wouldn't tell us its form either, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out exactly what sort of game we should be expecting.

But at the very least, we know we'll be playing more Ratchet in just over a year.

A short but sweet extended expansion for Tools of Destruction for a low, low price of $15.
