I'm loving what I've played of it so far, but I can see what Mikel is saying about the control issues. That's the one drawback of the game. Well, that and the somewhat lack luster visuals. Great game though

i didnt find the controls that imprecise i found the AI far worse sometimes they are easy then they are kicking your balls.

so, i haven't played either, except infamous demo. and idk. i'm kinda curious how prototype is. my friend said its hella cool and after i played infamous, it was kinda boring. i don't feel like spending 60 on a game that bored me in the demo. oh well, time to rent from gamefly.

I agree with skaface, after playing both games almost to completion, i can say that i think they are both great games but that neither of them deserve a 9. I think they both deserve a solid 8. That said, I think that Prototype is in general a funner experience while inFamous delivers more in presentation, graphics, and story telling (overall it just feels more polished). Now, if you really have to decide between the two i would recommend Prototype, because isn't FUN what games are about anyways? (unless ur a complete graphics whore, then pick up inFamous)

@Thor0997
I understand if you can't read, but you seem to be able to type so that can't be your excuse you must have read my answer to both yours and Elporks question already. You just must be borderline retarded or something and not have understood the answer then? Read my fucking posts you fucking idiot jackass and you would see the answer you dumb fuck. Is that clear enough for you Thor or should I dumb that down for you too?
You are the idiots basing what you do on what others say, I am not. You are going to buy prototype because it LOOKS more fun, well how the fuck do you know that? Because Mikel told you it was fun to play? Fuck off.

I asked you because you made a Massive word wall and said you didnt care about what people said. You have the biggest reaction to what people say and then say that you dont care what people say. Hypocrite. So say the opposite of what you do.

InFamous is more story driven and tries to teach players about consequences of being good or evil. This, is insanity with superpowers. They both deserve a 8 and even though I personally find infamous the better overall game I have to admit prototype is almost just as good.

Howetzer, dude, its fine for u to state ur opinion just don't do it in a way that gets people pissed off. State your opinion and then leave, don't get mad at every person that disagrees with u or tries to give u a little bit of advice. Writing text walls that fill up half of the comment section and spewing hate at people as soon as they give u advice or joke around with u is a good way to get people to hate u. Just calm down man :)

I might be able to clarify a few points. Note: I've played about 10 hours of Prototype, and I only played the InFamous demo.

Certain qualities that people may see as nitpicks are important to others. For example: movement in both of these games. From what I've played, Prototype's movement is much faster and fluid, BUT I'm not saying it's better. InFamouse has more "solid" climbing mechanics and is more deliberate. Some people would find that "weightiness" more enjoyable. Some will find Prototype's super-fast movement more enjoyable.

While movement could seem nitpicky, for some people it may be a big deal, since in both games you spend a lot of time traversing the city.

For another person, graphics may be important, and InFamous looks a lot more polished in that department. However, Prototype doesn't look BAD. Furthermore, having worked as a QA tester for several years, I have a good idea why Prototype looks the way it does. It has huge draw distances, combined with a ton of people+enemies on screen at once, plus explosions and other effects. They surely had to scale back the graphical detail to make the game run smoothly, and it does run quite smoothly. In order to maintain Alex's sense of speed, they sacrificed detail. That may or may not bother you.

Finally, Prototype is not a button masher. The skill selection is massive, and if you learn to use them, you can be like a ninja, dodging attacks, counter-attacking, etc. You also have to switch powers to be effective. It is far from mindless.

Given all this, I understand why Mikel likes Prototype more. Like him, I found InFamous' movement too "sticky", which made getting around somewhat of a chore, whereas in Prototype getting around is hugely fun and a total breeze. However, I only played the InFamous demo, so I can't claim a comprehensive assessment. Do you get powers in InFamous that allow really fast travel later in the game?

@Howetzer

You think Game Dev's care what Reviewers think? I site Spider man 3 as an example. Almost everybody hated that movie/game, And yet it sold millions(Meta of 6.3). Not because of review's(Game informer *point*), but because of, like you said, Hype and well placed ad's. And for some reason you keep trying to bring up Anger from both the employees and fans of gamesradar. So keep talking your self in circle's and devolve into a bigger internet moron then you already are.

Using a keyboard and mouse, just finished the game. The controls didnt feel as imprecise as everyone has been saying, there just very knacky, you really gotta get to know them to be able to pull off all the complex parkour.

My main gripe was the bosses, everything felt like a mini boss except elizabeth greene =|.

Even the final boss was just a revival of an earlier mini boss.
loonyman978  - 5 months 22 days ago
@ Matthew Keast, the whole power line and railway grind gets you around pretty fast, especially if you link them with the gliding. but tbh, you don't need to travel very far at one time, the city isn't too massive and most missions are well grouped near each other.

Every time a flame war goes on past 6 pages, God kills a kitten. And removes both of the discussed games from existence. I like these games too, so let's try to find another topic of discussion than InFAMOUS v Prototype, shall we? Anyone still looking to troll on THAT topic can do so to their heart's content at Gamefaqs.

Also, let's enact a citizen's ban on Howetzer for dragging it out this far.

lol, this isn't half as bad as IGN. There's death threats everywhere. Isn't it funny how people go isane when they hear someone elses opinion?
