Ok we got a good one here kids dont we? This is fun....
First up we got Elpork.
Can you answer me what the point of having a website or anyone for that matter review games is? It's so people can get an idea of what a game is like before they buy it, which drives sales numbers for these games which by the way is a VERY big deal to companies who make games you idiot.
Heres a quote from you...
"If the game scores a 7 or an 8 or a 9 on metacritic, Who cares"
I'll tell you who cares, the goddamn people who make the games because thier living depends on it. Does that answer your question?
Do you really think that all this shit means nothing and has NO sway over what people buy? And that the companies who make these games DONT care about what is being said about their products? If you do you are truely dumber than I would have originally thought.
Couple more points for you Pork, take a minute to think these ones over too, I'm sure after a while my points will sink in....
you asked why I'm complaining about a reviewer who doesn't have the same game taste as me, heres a quote from my post "In the end I am happy with playing Infamous over Prototype, but if you enjoyed the prototype game over the infamous one good for you, you make being wrong look good Mikel lol." Now where in that staement does it say I give a flying rip about what he prefers? I am stating my oppinion that I think he is wrong and just giving him a little joking jab about it, but still saying good for you that's fine.
Another question of yours:
"Do you base your life completely on what others say? " - Fuck no, but alot of the sheep that live around me do, and because these reviews effect what people buy I want the reviews to be at least consistant which I don't feel they are on this site. Because good games should be bought Elpork, they should be bought because then we will get more good games made for us. Do you not understand that when you buy a game, when people spend their money on games, it tells the game makers what people like, and if they did a good job or not, the sales are all that matters don't you get that? So my whole problem here is that because these reviews effect the sales and thus the game makers, and thus in the end me, I unlike the rest of you brainless people actually give a fuck about how fair the reviews are. I know you won't understand but that's ok maybe someone will read this and get it, and that's enough for me. Also not to mention this little nugget for you Elpork, you just posted here complaining that I should not have posted and complained about something. Nice.

@ grumpyDinosaur - I thought I was going to have to say something else to you, but after re-looking at your post I realised you just posted the same crap Elpork did, so read the above (^) and sit-down before you hurt yourself.

@bonerachieved, thanks, I R gud spelr alwayz haz bin.

oh and last but DEFFINATELY least,
@ TessSteckle. Thanks for the food, and I would but no one wants blow jobs from anyone else but you, turns out you're REAL good!

To lava_lamp:
I think they do that because first of all they can get in trouble with that place and second the game makers in America probably want to stick to what they know.

Maybe people should look at InFamous and Prototype as different games.

Trying to climb to the top of spires is insanely retarded. Up for some reason means to the side, and then when you swing you get stuck on air, and fall. Extremely frustrating. Knowing the developers did a Hulk game makes the whole game look very comicbookish, to me, especially the buildings. Not bad, but so far I think I'd give this and inFamous 8's. And I had no installation troubles on PS3.

MIkel and GamesRadar in general like to give us the readers something other sites don't, a different take on gaming in general. They like to give shit to the developers on all 3 consoles. I've come to expect these things from this site and that's why this is the main gaming site I check for reviews and game news. Sure it might be full or potty humor but quit taking yourself so seriously.
If you don't like the reviews or articles then go visit other sites. Gaming sites are a dime a dozen these days and everyone has an opinion on them, so I'm sure you're bound to find a site that appeals to your likes and dislikes.
It's ok to debate the subject and give your opinion but at this point in the game we should all know what to expect from GR.

@Howetzer

Calm down for 10 seconds, get down off your horse, and go back and read your original post. Keep track of all your references to Metacritic, now try to figure just why people would come to the conclusion that that's all you care about. The entire thing reads like a stupid angry fanboy who is still mad about the 7 inFamous received. Also just because you put a "lol" after something does not make it a joke, the way that sentence reads in the context of your post is "You're wrong, I'm right, I laugh at me thinking you're wrong" You can't just throw that in after your whole angry Metacritic rant and think it will read as a joke.

(I was already sitting down, should I lie down instead?)

Can everyone please stop trying to defend the review? You're making MUCH more noise than the one or two accusors in the comments thread and clogging it up.

That said. I don't think I'll get this because it sems very shallow and repetative, just a bunch of gore. Better sandbox games out there.
Canucklehead  - 5 months 23 days ago
The review is fine, Mikel makes good points but ultimately I'm surprised that this game got a 9. It's a fun game no doubt, but it's also a rather shallow experience with less stellar graphics and some weak controls.

Sadly because inFamous came out around the same time the two games are going to get compared. I'm just wondering: Based on both reviews and the negatives listed at the end of both reviews how is a 2 point difference between the two games justified? Based on the review and the justification on the podcast, a lot of inFamous' score was based on the side missions and the lackluster city design. But both of those points can be made about Prototype too...So where is the two point difference coming from?

Ultimately it irks me that Prototype is getting a pass on a lot of bad design elements because of the stuff it does well. I've been following this game for well over a year and have been looking forward to it since Sierra owned the property. The promise was there. But in the end the game looks like it was rushed to market. The graphics and draw distances aren't very good and the controls are just off.

A fun game yes, but a 9? I own the game...but I just can't see it.

I still love you guys though.

i agree with michaelmcc827, we all love Mikel but this war is annoying. Plus the more you argue with people like Howetzer the more they are going to write, and i don't think we want any more of that. so just ignore them, just like you did to bullies in elementary school, then eventually they will go away. :)

anyways, what i really wanted to say: i love hoe metacritic actually uses the "just for you metacritic" part lol. Now they don't even need to read the article, they can just go to the end and copy paste!

i think that inFAMOUS is nowhere as good as prototype i bought prototype on the tenth and it is sick as shitm

@ grumpyDinosaur
#1 I am not on a horse.
#2 I am perfectly calm until someone tries telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about, or until I get told to calm down...
#3 Metacritic is relevant thus the references to it.
#4
Where do you suggest someone go to get a review score on a game? I think most would say Metacritic because it combines alot of the more prevelant webistes/magazines etc in the score and is in general seen as the place to get the best idea on what kind of expierence a game is going to be.
#5 I really dont care how you read it, it didn't have a goddamn thing to do with you did it or did I miss something?
#6 With all the fanboy BULLSHIT talk I keep hearing I never hear all you guys who are appearently GamesRadar Defenders talk about how you can't get off their nuts.(fanboys)
#7 My problem is how this website does it's reviews, they seem biased to me,so I called them out on it, is that a crime against the Gamesradar Defenders ?(read: Gamesradar Fanboys) I love the other features, I also love the way the reviewers will actually read posts from the people I think that is very cool. That's why I come here.
#8 I saw an oppertunity to start a conversation about gaming and I took it, what did you do? Jump on me cause you're a gamesradar fanboy and they can do no wrong? (you like the fanboy bullshit yet?)
#9 Oh I didn't realise you were already sitting, then I guess you could just put your helmet back on. lol. <-- not a joke.
Howetzer  - 5 months 23 days ago
Also just for the record guys, I really bear no ill-will to anyone in here I just have strong opinions and I like to get them across to people. I also will defend myself if I am attacked, and for that I am not sorry and @ grumpy look I know what youre trying to say and everything, I appreciate that, but when something seems wrong to me I'm going to put it out there and try to explain it.

prototype reminded me of protoss. Time2playStarcraft
thor0997  - 5 months 23 days ago
Holy fucking shit is howetzer a fucking whiner. Again I ask the question just like ElPork asked.

Do you base your life completely on what others say?

I ask this because you have huge fuckin text walls whenever people have something to say. Then you react like a bitch getting muscle fucked.

Im going to buy this because despite its slight graphical flaws it looks like its going to be alot more FUN than InFamous.
skaface  - 5 months 23 days ago
after reading both articles (a self-fulfilling prophecy) and having played both games i have to disagree with the scores, because they simply should switch - concerning story, story-telling, the cities themself, exploring, gameplay and overall polishing. Although, on second thought, neither one deserves a 9, they are both very good but lack the "awesomeness".
Amnesiac  - 5 months 23 days ago
I've said before that I prefer Prototype over InFamous, but I agree that I don't think either deserves a nine.
sinkingfeeling  - 5 months 23 days ago
A quick prefix- i respect ign and 1up. hence i find it strange these guys dont rate prototype as much, when i also really rate GR. These guys rock. Only games site i daily see!!!

Still it seems ign and 1 up are closer to the thing. Cant believe mikel, who is a legend, gave infamous a 7 but this a 9. I get it is 'his opinion' but what does GR get written down as giving these games.... exactly what he gives them. so while he is giving his opinion he is speaking for the whole site.

and i just hink hes full of shit lol
SlightlyBetterName  - 5 months 23 days ago
Renting before i'm buying it. Looks great but not sure if i could get into that universe.

Igns review has merit but begins to verge on the nitpicky... Does the reviewer just have tiny thumbs? because hitting X and B isnt all that hard.... This game does need a little extra polish though and they will probably fix that in updates. YAY!

Definetly going to pick this up :)
