This game is pure gold. The free-roaming lets you feel as though you are Alex Mercer with his incredible gift-or curse, without slowing the story down (like Far Cry 2). This game is well worth picking up. The gruesome attacks, the gore flying everywhere... it will tickle your evil side.

Prototype – hands-on
A city overrun by hideous mutants becomes a playground when you're an elegant juggernaut
Apr 07, 2009
When we were a kid taking a trip to the Big Apple, we imagined streets full of screaming people, mutated monsters, and cops in riot gear trying to keep things in order. Then we imagined transforming parts of our body into sinister weapons, before launching 50 feet into the air and elbow-dropping a tank, smashing it to a smoldering wreck. » Read Full Prototype preview

A little bit of this and a lot of that, it might turn out to be more than the sum of its parts
Feb 04, 2009
If performing an elbow drop onto a tank from 200 feet in the air, after leaping from a skyscraper, can’t grab your attention, then the world is a wrong place. This move is just one of many attention-grabbing elements of Prototype that was recently demoed by Activision. The game itself has had a potted development history. » Read Full Prototype preview

We take a look under a mutated hoodie, but decide not to hug
Apr 21, 2008
Rightly or wrongly, hoodies have something of a bad rep - the wearers of the much-maligned garments being widely blamed for the majority of society’s ills. Thanks to Vivendi’s forthcoming Prototype, that reputation is set to get a lot worse. While the craze of happy slapping has thrown up some appalling acts of immoral behaviour, we’ve yet to see a clip where 15 people are sliced in half with a flick of the wrist. Yep, » Read Full Prototype preview
Prototype bests GTA IV
Find out why Rockstar's road rager might take the backseat in 2008
Aug 21, 2007
Aug 21, 2007 We're not saying that Grand Theft Auto IV will suck. In fact, we think itll be one of next years must have titles. It's just that there's another awesome open-world action title set in New York (the real one) in the works that might make Rockstar take the backseat in 2008. The game's called Prototype, and even in its early stages of development, it looks ready to outshine GTA IV in almost every way. Yes, we're being serious. 1. It's new And were not talking Roman numeral four » Read Full Prototype preview
Prototype
GTA's first contender for the next-gen free-roaming crown
Aug 10, 2007
New York City. A hooded figure stands motionless in the center of Times Square. It's morning and there are people everywhere. And we're not talking about the usual video game approximation of a crowd. It's a kinetic cluster of bodies merging and stirring through sun-bleached streets. The camera swings upwards revealing vast, intricately-rendered skyscrapers reaching towards a cloudless blue sky, turning white as the harsh sunlight hits their sides. This is not the compromised parody of NYC » Read Full Prototype preview
