Enterbrain: Best Selling PS3 Games In Japan So Far (News)

"Weekly Famitsu had a short feature celebrating PS3's 2nd anniversary (they put it as "PS3's 730 days in Japan") in issue 12/12 detailing the console's journey so far in Japan.

Besides looking back at some of the major events during the two years, the mag also asked some industry experts on their view about PS3's future. Some of them think Ad-Hoc Party, the new service that allows PSP games with local communication play functionality to be able to go online, will spurs PS3 sales. Others hope 45nm Chips can be introduced faster so we can have slimmer PS3.

As always, some sales data were shared. According to Enterbrain's data, 2,469,448 units of Sony's struggling console have been sold as at Nov 16 and below are the five best selling software on the system since its launch (also as at Nov 16)."

Videogamer reports that Konami has announced that it will be reissuing PES 2008 as a budget title for Xbox 360 and PS2 on May 16.

Originally released in October 2007, new budget reissues will see the Xbox 360 version retailing at the lower price of £24.99 and the PS2 edition dropping to £19.99.

Gamers thinking of picking up the game for PS3 at a cheaper price are out of luck though, with no confirmed price drop. Videogamer is sure it will happen at some point though.

Today Konami confirmed to IGN that the franchise formerly titled Winning Eleven Soccer in the United States will now be known as Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. This in no way affects the title in Europe where it will stay known as Pro Evolution Soccer.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is scheduled to ship on March 11, 2008.

Konami releases a new update for the PS3 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008:

"Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has released an update for PES 2008 on PLAYSTATION®3 that will solve compatibility issues when it is played on a standard-definition TV set. The free download fixes the slight stuttering effect that occurs when the game is played on a non-HD source, and will be downloaded automatically when the game is played online."

The latest videogame sales data released for Germany and Spain shows Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare making a strong debut.

In Germany, Activision's first-person shooter captured the top three spots, with the PC version at number one, followed by the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 version in at number three

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was slightly less popular in Spain, but still managed to capture three of the top ten spots. The PS3 version debuted at number three, followed by the Xbox 360 version at number four and the PC version at number eight.

Konami is working to iron out severe lag PS3 owners are currently experiencing with PES 2008.

An online notification displayed when gamers enter the PES 2008 lobby revealed that the publisher has uncovered "issues which can affect the online gameplay quality of PES 2008" and is working "full strength to find a solution as quickly as possible".

At the time of writing PS3 PES 2008 is practically unplayable online, with the ball pinging about uncontrollably and players randomly disappearing and reappearing.

According to French gaming website Jeux-Video, a number of details were revealed regarding Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 during the IDEF event in Cannes, France. Konami expects a playable version of the soccer sim to be available on August 22nd which will most likely be making an apperance at the Leipzig event. Konami also noted that the Japanese version should be identical to the European version and there should be no technical differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360 incarnations.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that PES 2008 will be released in Autumn 2007. The latest edition to the multi-million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer series will be released for PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation 2, PSP (PlayStation Portable) and Nintendo DS, and is primed to be the definitive football title for any format.Key to PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision. Unique to the Konami game, Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that learns and adapts according to an individual's style of play.
