Months before the 2007 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony Computer Entertainment of America flew a small army of journalists down to its headquarters in San Diego for its Gamer's Day, a pre-E3 sneak peek at games set to arrive on its PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and PSP platforms. Featuring dozens of games from Sony and third-party publishers, several of which were unveiled and/or made playable for the first time, the event was a staggering look at a swarm ...

For a blockbuster hit like the Pirates of the Caribbean, you would think that publishers would jump on the opportunity on the franchise's fame and rake in shiploads of moolah by porting it to all conceivable platforms possible.

But not Disney Interactive Studios. While Jack Sparrow and the rest of his crew will be basking under the sun across multiplatforms on U.S. shores, Japan will only find them exclusively on Nintendo platforms. That's right, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End will only be shipped for the Japanese Wii and DS.

QJ.net are just as clueless as to why Disney Interactive opted to embrace this strategy for Japan, but it seems that they are confident PotC: At World's End will do just fine, even without the help of the other platform versions. They will see just how much gold they'll be raking in with this double-edged move.
It's very rare that the videogame off-shoot of a blockbuster movie lets you feel like you're in the movie. This is one of those times. Never before has a game looked so much like its source material. But don't go firing a ten cannon salute just yet - it's got plenty of issues that threaten to spoil the party.

The game is primarily a fighting game with free movement. You walk into an area, get pounced on by a bunch of bad guys and then see them off with a variety of attacks. You unlock ...
Did you realize that the summer movie season begins next month? That means gigantic $200 million action-adventure sequels ready to decimate your eyeballs with spectacular CG eye-candy. One of these sequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End will conclude not only the cliffhanger from last years extremely complicated Dead Mans Chest, but the entire trilogy as well. And while we could melt our brains trying to fathom how Jack Sparrow makes it out of the Kraken or why we have two British ...

PS3fanboy reports how Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is going to be displayed in 1080p where available. Why is this such a surprise? Because normally games based off of movies (based off of amusement park rides) hardly get any sort of beauty treatment.

They explain this by saying the game isn't that visually impressive. It looks good, but more like a 360 launch title than a second-gen 360 and semi-first-gen PS3 title. Check out the picture they used. Don't look at Jack -- look at the dude in the middle. Completely emotionless, like an N64 character.
Did you play last year's Pirates game? Wasn't too hot, was it? Lots of running in a straight line and mindlessly mashing on the attack button. Oh, and turning the PS2 off, that happened a lot too. So why should you even glance at this year's? For starters, it's in new hands, so there's a tiny ray of hope right away. Second, this is the first time Jack and his not-quite-plundery-enough crew have appeared on next-gen systems, ready to awe us with their recreated face maps and wavy hair ...
