Nestled deep in the comments section of the official PAIN Blog, Producer Travis Williams has been busy responding to the community. There's plenty of back-and-forth banter, but there are also some hidden gems of info which we thought you might be interested in. PAIN's expansion pack, the Amusement Park, will be available this Summer for less than $6.99 and a video of it in action will be shown on the official PlayStation Blog at some point tomorrow. A European release will happen simultaneously. With regards to trophies, this will be included in the expansion pack and won't end there. Travis says that new trophies for PAIN will come out as long as we continue to add content. Hopefully this is a common occurrence, with future game expansions for existing titles bringing more trophies. Could this mean more Super Stardust HD trophies are coming at some point in the future? Considering there's no Platinum trophy, we're guessing so.

The Amusement Park has had many different incarnations before we decided on the final format. It had to represent what we know of the PAIN play style and add layers to it. It wouldn't do to have another level like Downtown. We needed to move beyond that area. We needed to step it up. That meant¿ More ways to move around. More community Interaction Different ways to move around A different launcher A multi-leveled environment Longer PAINful runs MULTIPLAYER Oh and¿.less time between new content updates

Greg Miller: This afternoon, Sony updated the PlayStation Network with a wealth of trailers, demos, games, and content, but it would appear that the latest PAIN patch is messing up the game's online options. After we downloaded the update -- which adds the ability to play music from your hard drive during the game, gives you a few new layouts for downtown, and more -- we started PAIN and were presented with an error. A network error has occurred, you must restart PAIN and reconnect to access any online content, the message stated. We restarted several times and kept getting the error. Even with the error message, you can still play the game, but the store and any other online functionality are locked to you. Other IGN users are reporting the problem on our message boards, and a Sony rep said the company is investigating the problem. We'll keep you updated. UPDATE (5:15 p.m.): We are aware that some users are receiving a network error message and are working to rectify this as soon as possible, a Sony rep said. We expect this situation to be resolved withing the next 12 hours.

Travis: Whatup! My name is Travis Williams and I am the Senior Producer for PAIN for the PlayStation Network. It's been a while since I last posted on the Official PlayStation blog. Every time I have it's been a great experience. You all have shown me da-love so I wanted to make sure that when there was something cool to share with you that I would be back. I want to tell you what we've been doing with PAIN and why you should pay attention to us in the months to come. Tomorrow, the 19th of June we are releasing our next free update to PAIN. This will be a two-week process where each week we release new features and content to PAIN. This is a two-week process because we are perfecting our content delivery process. We have always had this goal with PAIN that we should be able to move faster with our content delivery than most games. If you are a normal PAIN blog reader you might laugh at that comment. They have been waiting for months for us to pick up the pace. Some of them were wondering where I've been lately.

StalkingSilence of PlayStation LifeStyle found this post by Travis Williams, Senior Producer at SCEA. The post was taken down from the Official PlayStation.Blog at the time this was published. Travis Williams writes [in the deleted post] So what's in the 6-19 update then? Here you go¿ Jukebox Play ¿ Now you can play your own tunes inside of PAIN. If you have some time go back to my previous blog posts and you will see where you users took us to task about including this option. So it's DONE.New Downtown Layouts ¿ We have new configurations for downtown. Demolition and Block Party. Go to the trophy room after your update and you will see how to unlock these areas. You can also play these areas in HORSE now too. Multiple Character Selection ¿ Many of our players wanted to play two player games with different characters. So there you go.Logo Skip ¿ Now you don't have to wait for the logo sequence to get right to the game.

Let the bone crunching begin! PAIN has finally arrived as expected on the European PS Store. We're really pleased to see it has made it's way over here and can't wait to start tossing mimes (no, that's not a euphemism for anything else, before you ask). So what else came our way today in what Sony are saying will be the end of poor EU updates?

PS3fanboy reports: It has been confirmed to us that the wait is finally over. Europeans can get their hands on PAIN, as well as a few add on packs (probably the character packs already released in the US) this coming Thursday. With last week being described as the last bad update for a while, things should pick up from now on. Yeah. How many times have we heard that one? The localisation issues that cause these ridiculous delays (it's been four months since PAIN was released in America) are due to be addressed at some point in the near future. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, something needs to be done, so we'll look forward to these discussions with cautious anticipation.

Akayuki writes: Sony has confirmed the release dates of a couple of games that were announced last year at E3. Elefunk and Echochrome are probably the most exciting ones, but there is also Fl0W for the PlayStation Portable, if that interests you. Also, Pain is set to release on the European PSN store this month, along with bonus characters and an expansion. Hit the jump for a press release.

Geekpulp writes: Sony has sent us confirmation of release timing for a few games that were announced last year at E3. Elefunk and Echochrome are the two main items that catch my attention but there is also Flow for the PSP. I am looking forward to Echochrome as I know a lot of people are, there are never enough challenging puzzle games that are so different from the typical falling block games. Pain is set to be released on the European store (NZ included) this month along with some bonus characters as an expansion. It would be nice if they had released a different map instead of the extra characters as that would increase replayability far more than some new characters.

From leading man Travis Williams, comes this post on the official PAIN site: I am actually writing this update in LAX because my flight was just delayed for an hour AGAIN (I am headed to the Game Developers Conference). This past month has been quite the journey. I must admit that it has been a learning experience that wasn't as PAINless as I initially expected. The good news is that if you are still with us then that update is right around the corner. Right around the corner like Thursday the 21st of Feb. This update includes the leader board reset (and the fix to the score exploit) It also includes the Free Single Player Fun With Explosives Mode and Hung Lo. Single Player Fun with Explosives comes complete with it's own Leaderboard too. Lets see how long it takes for you guys to beat my personal score. I will also answer a few questions (demands) that I have been promising everyone for a while. I hope this will shed some light on what is going on with our PAIN.

Via Coke, apparently a senoir board member over at the PAIN boards, we be havin' some scurvy fun in a wee bit! (..don't know if that's actual pirate talk.) As I mentioned in my previous post, we can't leave our Pirate lovers hanging, so here's a sneak peek at the guy we're working on now. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Scurv Dogg: We call him S-Dizzle round these parts. Straight from the South Central Seas, Scurv Dogg is a bitter, bitter man, mostly due to the fact that his hip-hop career hasn't blown up yet (mostly due to music Piracy, which is kinda ironic, isn't it?). Perhaps you can give him a hand blowing up with a few careful Ooches into exploding crates. Make it happen, Cap'n! You'll seen Scurv on your Character Select screen some time shortly after Hung Lo makes his entrance. He's not a big guy, but he's hard to miss. You just know we couldn't let Hung Lo operate without someone his own size to pick on.
