With over half of Idol Minds development team supposedly fired last year, it has been a tough time for the PAIN developer, who were thought to be developing a PS3 exclusive game, and a multiplatform title. But funding seems to have returned to the developer as they are once again hiring for the PS3 exclusive, with the job listings hinting at what the game might include.

Joystiq: If you haven't fired up Pain in a grip, you might want to do so post-haste -- the game was discretely patched with a free, Axe-sponsored new level, Pain Falls, earlier this month. Sony only just announced the new content to fans in an email bulletin.

Sony has finally revealed the reason behind the scheduled maintenance that resulted in the PlayStation Store being offline for the most part of yesterday. And that reason is none other than HD stereoscopic 3D Gaming! Remember that Sony released a firmware update back in April that introduced 3D support.

SCEJ announced today that the first games to go 3D on the PlayStation 3 will be arriving on the PlayStation Store starting on June 10th.

The PSN title PAIN will be getting some new add-ons this week. They just happen to be the first set of content that is playable in 3D on new 3D televisions. Older game modes are also being patched for 3D play.

While it would be possible for any games system currently on the market to produce stereoscopic 3D games as both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have done in the forms of Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao and James Camerons Avatar: The Game its SCE that have taken-up the mantle and decided to become the standard bearer for the technology. Today, that agenda has become clearer than ever, as SCE has begun promoting the technology as part of a new consumer campaign for both PlayStation 3 and the recently launched BRAVIA 3D TV series.
