Tecmo Inc.'s action title Ninja Gaiden Sigma for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 is a top-seller for the console in the latest sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that Ninja Gaiden Sigma sold 46,307 units between June 11 and June 17 to rank as the third best-selling title in the top 50 game sales.

The top performance of the title help to boost PS3 sales by eight percent in the week.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma director Yosuke Hayashi has spiritedly defended the PlayStation 3 in an exclusive interview with Eurogamer - and all but confirmed that Team Ninja will be working on further titles for the platform.

Eidos reveals that European PlayStation 3 owners should be able to download a playable demo in around two weeks.

Speaking to Pro-G today at a European Ninja Gaiden Sigma press event, Eidos Interactive has revealed that before the game is released in July, European gamers should be on the look out for a playable demo.

Although unable to offer a precise date for the demo, our man in the field was informed that it should be hitting the European PlayStation Store in about two weeks.

It looks like any hopes Xbox 360 owners may have regarding seeing Ninja Gaiden Sigma ported over from the PlayStation 3 have but all been dashed. Talking with Japan's Famitsu Xbox 360, Tomonobu Itagaki had this to say about the whole deal:

"We're getting requests to port Sigma to the Xbox 360, but we currently have no such plans. But no worries, 360 owners! Team Ninja is still supporting your platform.We're taking new challenges on the Nintendo DS, and the same is true for the Xbox 360. In order to respond to our fans' expectations, we're always making sequels and new games."
