By choosing to release a game over multiple platforms, developers are forced to make compromises on quality, GamesRadar has been told by Mathieu Ferland, senior producer for Splinter Cell: Conviction, Sam Fisher's fifth spy adventure and an exclusive for Xbox 360 and PC. "Developing a game for multiple consoles is not so difficult but it requires certain compromises, usually quality compromises" explains Ferland. PS3 News | PlayStation 3
The PS3 has come under an awful lot of criticism both in the run up to and after its launch, but Sony says that the negative perceptions of the PS3 are unjustified and are mostly thanks to "the proliferation of the internet." Director of SCEA's corporate communications, Dave Karraker, remains confidently positive about the PS3's reputation, speculating: "I am pretty sure if you asked just about any real gamer out there if they would like to have a PS3, their answer would be a resounding ...

PS3 News | Tom Clancy's EndWar
EndWar, the console-only RTS directed by an ex-Creative Assembly and Total War veteran, will be completely voice-controlled, our man with a notepad at Ubisoft's Gamer's Day has confirmed. The game will not require the use of a pad, although you'll be able to pick up and play if you want. But plans are afoot for a bracingly fresh approach to RTS action, with a camera posed at "battlefield level," which we assume means something akin to a third-person, floating view. PS3 News | PlayStation 3
Version 1.8 of the PS3 firmware will go live tomorrow and, among other things, will give the PS3 the ability to upscale PS1, PS2 games and DVD movies to full 1080p high-definition. We personally thought that DVDs already looked pretty good playing through the high-def console, but with this upscaling it should look even better.
