PS3 News | Transformers: The Game
Activision unveiled the upcoming Transformer movie tie-in earlier this week in London to what we believe was a very average reception. We're huge fans of the brand and think the movie is shaping up to deliver the goods. We have a few reservations about the game though. We said, "Although the game's still in development, it lacked the detail and polish we've come to expect from 360 games. The environment looked bland and there was a distinct lack of people and traffic." Activision producer ...

PS3 News from N4G | Transformers: The Game
PS3 - Transformers: The Game - Activision Defends Transformers: The Game Activision producer Callum Godfrey has responded to CVG's article concerning Transformers with the following statement:

"We're really disappointed you guys didn't get an accurate impression of what Transformers: The Game is all about and the direction in which we're headed. A work in progress system was shown that we finished putting together in the early hours of that morning specifically for a first-look presentation.

We should perhaps have made it clearer to you guys that the physics system is not yet final and a large number of animations and reactions of the Transformers have yet to be implemented. These are due to come online during the next few weeks, and will help to make the player feel like they are taking heavy hits or are themselves generating considerable mass and force behind their own attacks. We agree this is crucial for a game about giant robots and this is where we're headed..."

PS3 News | Transformers: The Game
At a preview event in Europe yesterday, Transformers: The Game was presented to an underwhelmed crowed of journos, as the giant-robot action failed to meet high expectations set by the movie. Giant robots, guns, rockets, explosions - it's perfect videogame fodder. We were shown a city-based level that demonstrated destructible scenery by having robots smashing through buildings. We were also shown the combat system as two robots squared up to each other. But the physics engine lacked impact ...

CVG attended the unveiling with high hopes, after having been impressed by the action-packed trailer of the live-action film. Giant robots, guns, rockets, explosions - it's perfect videogame fodder.

"We were shown a city-based level that demonstrated destructible scenery by having robots smashing through buildings. We were also shown the combat system as two robots squared up to each other.

But the physics engine lacked impact during combat and failed to portray the extreme force you would imagine a punch from a 30-foot robot to have."

PS3 News | Transformers: The Game
The first in-game screen of Transformers: The Game has morphed into view, giving us a tantalizing enigma to ponder while we wait for the game and movie to arrive. The single in-game screenshot shows Bumblebee towering above trees and a factory and... a person? We've blown up the image so you can decide for yourself, but we reckon it looks like a lady running away from the towering beast. Of course, stomping people may not be a feature of this family-friendly game, but we'd like to think it ...
