In a seemingly innocuous press release from Electronic Arts today, the company announced some great news for b-ballin' PlayStation 3 fans. Touting an NBA Finals simulation on NBA Live, the publisher snuck in the fact that NBA Live 07 will be a launch title for Sony's next-gen system.
"NBA Live 07 will be available this fall on the Xbox 360 and Xbox video game systems, the PlayStation 2, PSP handheld system, and PC. It will also be one of the EA Sports titles available at launch of the PS3 entertainment system," says the statement.
NBA Live 07 played a significant role in EA's portion of Sony's pre-E3 conference. A video showed off the game's new procedural awareness, foot planting, and responsiveness mechanics, and a demo showed gameplay being run in real time on simulated PS3 hardware.

EA Sports is offering free downloadable content for NBA Live 08 with the "NBA All-Star 2008 Pack by adidas". Included are this year's jerseys, court, and 10 new pairs of shoes made exclusively for New Orleans. The pack is available for the 360 and will be for PS3 shortly.» Read More

EA sent out a news alert letting Loot Ninja know that a downloadable patch for NBA Live 08 is now available on the PS3 to enable 10 player Online Team Play. The patch will be available for the Xbox 360 later this month.» Read More

EA announced today that a NBA Live 08 videogame simulation of the entire 2007-08 NBA season predicted that the Phoenix Suns will come away winners of The Finals 2008 next June, defeating the Boston Celtics in seven games.» Read More

VGChartz has just uploaded the new hard- and software sales for the week of September 30 - October 6. Not suprisingly, Halo 3 remains the top selling game in the US with an additional 562.000 copies in its second week, which brings its total to almost 3.2 million. Nintendo DS's biggest title of the year thus far, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, debuted on second place with almost 350.000 copies. Also, NBA 2K8 on the Xbox 360 outsold NBA Live 08 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 with a debut of 116.000, compared to NBA Live's 102.000 on the Xbox 360. Microsofts exclusive title Project Gotham Racing 4 debuted with just 90.000 copies in its first week.
On the hardware side, the Halo 3 effect seems to still effect the Xbox 360 hardware sales as Xbox 360 hardware numbers jumped another 6% to almost 130.000. Nintendo DS was still the top selling hardware this week, despite a 5% decline to 135.000 copies. Nintendo Wii sales dropped 2% to 95.000 as Playstation 3 numbers remained at the same level with almost 30.000 units. Check out all this weeks numbers after the jump.
