PS3 News | Echochrome - PS3 Network
As we revealed earlier, you can already play a game very similar to the recently announced PSP and PS3 Network game Echochrome right now, for free from the internet. Just in case you can't be bothered to hit this link and try it for yourself, we thought we'd show you what it can do. It should be noted that this is really just a tech demo to illustrate the strange concepts of subjective landing and subjective existence, and not actually a game at all. But here's the problem - the demo is fun ...

PS3 News from N4G | Echochrome - PS3 Network
PS3 - Echochrome - PS3 Network - Preview Sony's Echochrome now - on PC Remember how Valve Software announced Portal and it subsequently emerged that a project that inspired the puzzle game could be downloaded from the 'net?

Well, a similar thing has happened with Sony's Echochrome, it's a PSN/PS3 puzzle game that was announced at E3 that's based on the manipulation of 3D objects that make up each of its levels. The idea is to guide a matchstick man to safety.

OLE Coordinate System, which you can download now for PC, features a very similar concept and has presumably inspired Echochrome.

PS3 News | Echochrome - PS3 Network
[UPDATE] While we're not backtracking on our opinion that Echochrome has the potential to be one of the sleeper hits of the PS Network, we've just found out that the game was far from Sony's "original" idea. The game has existed as a tech demo for PC here since last year, described as an "interactive optical illusion" and coded by one Jun Fujiki. It appears Sony has been given permission to develop this free game for the PS Network, only with preset levels - the downloadable version simply ...

PS3 News from N4G | Echochrome - PS3 Network
PS3 - Echochrome - PS3 Network - Echochrome Announced for the PSN During the Sony press conference at E3 Phil Harrison announced a number of games that stood out. One of them was an abstract puzzle game.

Called Echochrome, the downloadable game is made by Sony's Japan Studio. Graphics play a very, very small role.

The overall goal to the game is to get from starting point to the end point. Throughout the later levels there are pitfalls, teleporters, and bumpers that will make each level more challenging then that last.

It's unknown when Echochrome will be released but it will be one of the 180 PSN games Sony will be releasing worldwide before March 2008.

PS3 News from N4G | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
PS3 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Bethesda: 'Fallout is a better game than Oblivion' Speaking to VideoGamer.com at a recent roundtable interview in London, Bethesda Softworks vice president Pete Hines has confidently declared that Fallout 3 is a better game than the highly praised The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Asked directly if he felt the review scores for Fallout 3 will beat those of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Hines wasn't to be drawn on Fallout 3's review scores, but did express his confidence in the game.

"I don't have any doubts that on the whole, and I think this is a belief universally shared on the team that Fallout is a better game," said Hines. "But we're also not oblivious to the fact that we have a lot of extra baggage that we're carrying, being the guys picking up this franchise, that are re-imagining this series from 10 years ago, and there's something that comes along with that. We're very well aware of what we're up against."

He added: "I have no doubts in my mind that, at its core and for everything that it provides that Fallout is a better game than Oblivion was. For sure."

PS3 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - PS3 gets Oblivion Shivering Isles as a download. Oblivion expansion Shivering Isles is to release as a digital download for PS3.

According to Bethesda, the expansion will be available on PSN as of November 29, although it's not yet confirmed how much it'll cost. It also appears that initially the download will only be available in North American, where Shivering Isles has just shipped on disc.

The expansion features 30-plus hours of new adventuring, new quests, monsters and expanded freeform gameplay.

Presumably Shivering Isles hitting PSN will pave the way for further DLC for Oblivion on PS3.

PS3 News | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Nov 5, 2007 There's more chatter over a possible Elder Scrolls MMO this morning, as crafty internet dwellers have discovered Bethesda's registration of elderscrollsonline.com. The website is currently a dead end and Bethesda's Pete Hines says it's just nabbing URLs to prevent squatters getting there first. Supporting the speculation is Bethesda parent ZeniMax's recent commitment to MMO development. Last week the company said it will be using funds from Providence Equity Partners for "future ...
