Met with mixed reactions upon its reveal, the first-person shooter reimagining of strategy classic XCOM has traveled quite a bumpy road. After a not so great showing during E3 2010, it bounced back this year, looking good at E3 2011 and it had a set release date of March 6, 2012. Now the 1950s shooter has hit another bump as that March 6 release has disappeared and its publishing plans are less clear than before...
Silicon Knights, developer of X-Men: Destiny and 2002's cult GameCube title Eternal Darkness, has laid off a large majority of staff, reports 1up. The studio is said to have dismissed 72 employees to pare its staff down to a “core staff” of 25. In July, Silicon Knights was staffed by 97 employees and had plans to hire 80 more, following a CDN $3 million Ontario government grant aimed at turning the developer into a “self-sustaining” games publisher...
