It’s your friend’s birthday party at a local mini-golf course/arcade. You and five pals crowd around the gigantic X-Men Arcade machine and its huge screen, perhaps half of said screen is starting to fade, and you’re arguing over who gets to play as Wolverine or Nightcrawler (the least fortunate were stuck with Dazzler or Storm). If you remember days like those, soon you’ll be able to enjoy them again/distract yourselves from how old you are, as Marvel and Konami have gotten off their butts and are rereleasing the classic X-Men Arcade game for download on 360 and PS3 soon...

A new X-Men game is in development. X-Men Destiny will be developed by Silicon Knights and published by Activision. Not much else is known about the upcoming title except for the select mutants revealed in the game’s first trailer…

With two upcoming games based on Marvel comic book characters, you'd have to be a damn fool not to notice the opportunity for a bit of cross-promotional synergy. With both hitting retail soon, building a bit of mutually beneficial hype into Silicon Knights' X-Men Destiny and Beenox's Spider-Man: Edge of Time was a no-brainer. Pre-order either title and you'll receive a code to unlock bonus costumes inspired by the characters' previous adventures and/or latent abilities...

Silicon Knights has had a bumpy decade, so it’s nice that it looks like the developer is getting back on track since the fiasco that was Too Human. The first step is the upcoming Marvel/Activision game X-Men: Destiny, a title that puts you in the shoes of a new recruit instead of one of the battle-hardened regulars. Comic-Con saw the release of a couple of trailers, one showing off the gameplay, another detailing one of the three main characters and voice actor that plays him, and both contain the useful information of when the game comes out...

Activision has unleashed a set of new screens showcasing more mutant powers in X-Men Destiny. So far, most look very projectile-oriented with beams of energy and waves of shadow matter knocking over evil minions from afar...

We’re still on the fence with X-Men Destiny. On the one hand you’ve got fancy pants developer Silicon Knights and an interesting twist of playing as a new mutant dealing with their powers and having to choose between joining the X-Men or Brotherhood of Mutants. On the other hand, Silicon Knights’ last game was the very middling Too Human and we really like playing as Wolverine, not some new kid. Perhaps this GamesCom trailer, detailing the multiple powers you can assign to your mutant, will help us make up our minds…

With less than a month until the late-September release of X-Men: Destiny, Silicon Knights' mutant action-RPG, you've probably seen all the teasers and promo stills you can muster interest for. This behind-the-scenes look at the title takes a gander at the motion-capture and voice-acting work required to craft a game which allows you, in the words of head Knight Dennis Dyack, “to interact in very deep and meaningful ways within the universe.” Well, that's what we all want out of life, after all...

Here's three new trailers for Silicon Knights' upcoming X-Men: Destiny, each highlighting a different set of X-Gene powers that can be gained by donning the appropriate X-spandex. There's a look at some of the powers for Havok, Emma Frost and Juggernaut, as well as the host of better-known mutants who'll be playing supporting roles in your fledgling superhero's saga...

The launch trailer for X-Men: Destiny asks players to choose between fighting for good or evil. To say this is the first time you've faced such a decision would be a slight exaggeration: our list of tough-call moments from last year is already looking a bit outdated. But besides that one-shot yea-or-nay vote, you'll also get a look at the more varied pathways on offer, as the mutants players will fight alongside – or against – and some of the powers on offer...

Silicon Knights, developer of X-Men: Destiny and 2002's cult GameCube title Eternal Darkness, has laid off a large majority of staff, reports 1up. The studio is said to have dismissed 72 employees to pare its staff down to a “core staff” of 25. In July, Silicon Knights was staffed by 97 employees and had plans to hire 80 more, following a CDN $3 million Ontario government grant aimed at turning the developer into a “self-sustaining” games publisher...
