Yeah, we'll give E3 its props. But the last thing we needed is another ginormous game expo that lets the big boy publishers hog the spotlight and peddle their billion dollar franchises front and center. Enter the grassroots showcase, Expo for Interactive Entertainment: Independent and Original - or more preferably pronounced as the sing-songy EIEIO.

Chances are, if Hollywood ever get round to making a Half-Life movie, it'll be rubbish. Hell, we'll probably have to make do with Matthew Maconahay shoved into a pair of specs and Paris Hilton as the 'believably' brainy Ms. Vance. Thankfully, an enterprising deviantART poster called agentscarlet has envisioned a Half-Life 2: Episode Two movie in incredible poster form...

Could it be? Could it really be? Yes. Yes it could. Sit yourselves down people, and regulate your breathing, because it looks like Valve's epic Portal 2 ARG might just be about to drop the motherlode.

That motherlode? Half-Life.

Yeah. Half-Life. Finally, blessedly, mercifully, after our years of frustration and faith, it looks like sweet, sweet Half-Life might be set for its next reveal. My feelings? Incandescent, explosive joy, obviously, and also a hint of smugness, because I called this one in an excitable semi-drunken tweet to Tyler Wilde the other night. If you want my (non-booze-related) reasoning for that tweet, and the evidence backing up this latest potential development, click on.

Gaming’s most intense whirly birds, Little Big Planet 2, the latest on 3DS, cheap game deals, and your humiliating stories of decimated relationships! Listen now, your brain will thank you...

Half-Life, developer Valve's multimillion dollar baby, has inevitably been targeted by movie-making hit-sniffers in the past. And with good reason - the series is a powerfully crafted chain of adventures, with real atmosphere and character. The problem, though, is Gordon. "[A movie] project always crashes up against the hard reality that Gordon Freeman is a conduit for the player's senses," explains Marc Laidlaw, one of Valve's longest serving writers. "As soon as you try to turn him into an

Dec 20, 2007 If you park on the streets of a major city like San Francisco, you know there's the risk that a starry-eyed young hooligan with the bold dream of stealing your stereo will smash in your window. GamesRadar US editor Tyler Wilde is well aware of this risk - his car has been broken into three times in the past year. What he didn't know is that not just his stereo is at risk. As an avid gamer and an angry citizen, he felt it was time to send a message to the window/ocarina smashing

18th Jan, 2008 [Warning: Like our Portal article from December, this piece features some pretty heady discourse, and also benefits from a visit from Mr. Narrative Theory. If that stuff makes you run screaming, then feel free to run screaming. Also, if you haven't completed Half-Life 2, leave now. This contains some inhuman spoilers.] Half-Life 2 is widely and rightly regarded as a modern classic. In terms of both gameplay and artistry there have been few, if any, games in the FPS genre which

Valve's main marketer Doug Lombardi was on hand recently to show off the latest version of the awesome looking PC/360 zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead. But PS3 is being left out of the loop.

Lombardi told us, "We're not PS3 developers - we're doing PC and 360 like with Orange Box. EA came to us and said 'Wow, Orange box was an incredible project, can we do a PS3 version?'"

So does that mean if it's a hit someone else (EA again,

PC Gamer UK's recent trip to Valve just keeps delivering bigger and better slices of mystery. According to Gabe Newell, Valve has "three pretty big surprises in the next 12 months." More surprises? Is the cancelled E3 surprise one of them? Is it Half-Life 3? Tell us Gabe!

Newell revealed, "I'm just laughing because... people will be shocked again." Dammit Gabe...
