New research out of Sweden suggests some gamers may lack the ability to separate real world fact from videogame fiction. The study, conducted at the Nottingham Trent University and Stockholm University, found that a majority of the 42 regular gamers surveyed had experienced some form of game-like visions or obsessive thoughts well after they had stopped playing, otherwise known as 'Game Transfer Phenomena' (GTP)...

NHL 12's launch has become the largest in the series' history, according to EA Sports' internal report.  Sporting a 19% increase in unit sales across North America and Europe, the EA Canada hockey title drummed up over $27 million in revenues worldwide during its debut week, setting a new franchise record and clearing a path for EA's Facebook expansion...

We're playing right into the hands (mouths?) of Biting Elbows by running this. But what are we meant to do? Their promo video for the song The Stampede is a direct video response to the Mirror's Edge trailer on YouTube, and with good reason. It's exactly like the game. Only with live action in real locations, ridiculously high production values and surprisingly impressive special effects. It also contains pixelised nudity, so be warned if that sort of thing offends you.

The fourth add-on pack for Fallout: New Vegas is out today on Xbox Live, Steam, and the PlayStation Network. The Lonesome Road DLC will cost 800 MS points for Xbox 360 or $9.99 of real money for PC or PlayStation 3. If you download the new content, you'll be contacted by Ulysses, the original Courier Six who is also known as the man who refused to deliver the platinum chip at the start of game, getting you mixed up in a conspiracy to take over New Vegas. He'll offer to reveal why he didn't take the job if you're willing to take one last journey for him, a trip into the desolate canyons of the Divide. That's one of those “few have entered, none have returned” locations ravaged by storms, earthquakes, and who knows what else...

If you've been keeping tabs on Dark Souls, you know Namco's been teasing the upcoming harder-than-hardcore RPG with successive glimpses at the title's backstory. The final clip in the series rolls together everything that's come so far, wrapping everything up with the last bit of story to slot between “the creation of the game's universe” and “the bit where you press Start.” In case you’ve missed any of the previous Dark Souls prologues, we’ve included all of them here. Have a look…

Alright, we’re going to be honest with you: we have some bad news for you. It’s not terrible news, but, well, it’s bad – at least for some people. The PC version of Batman: Arkham City is being delayed from October to November, so any PC gamers looking forward to cleaning up the streets of Gotham are going to need to wait at least a few more weeks.

See? We warned you. But this sad story comes with some good news as well...

Above: A PS3 trailer for FF XIII-2 entitled ‘Promise.’ See the ‘Despair’ Xbox 360 video after the jump

We may never fully understand Square Enix's affinity for ill-fitting love ballads, but thanks to these new Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailers from TGS 2011, we at least have more insight into the twisty turny time travelling plot of its forthcoming RPG sequel...

Ubisoft is rewarding early adopters of Assassin's Creed: Revelations for PS3 with a bonus copy of the very first game in the AC series. The freebie is being offered as part of an exclusive partnership with Sony, and will appear pre-loaded with “day one” versions of the upcoming sequel…

EA has announced plans to deploy the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta next Thursday, September 29. The testing will be open to all players, however those who pre-order the digital PC version or a Limited Edition of 2010's Medal of Honor from EA's online Origin store will receive early access to the pre-release party starting September 27...

So, a double kick in the stones for original Homefront dev Kaos Studios then. Not only was it shut down by publisher THQ following the release of the first game (despite decent sales), the franchise it kickstarted is now officially going ahead without it. Yup Homefront 2 (proper title currently unconfirmed) is on the way, and in a somewhat left-field turn of events, it's coming from Crytek.

Though more specifically, it's coming from Crytek UK. ie. the new name for Free Radical Design. ie. the new name for the developer of TimeSplitters. A surreal, eccentrically British take on a brutal Korean invasion this time then? It's doubtful, but we can but hope...
