Video games, for some reason, have a long tradition of partnering sword-wielding heroes with canine partners. There was Shadow Dancer on the Mega Drive. Then there was Galford and Poppy in Samurai Showdown. And Shadow and Interceptor in Final Fantasy VI. And Fable II's hero. And now it looks like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is going the same way. Except with robo-dogs with chainsaw tails.
Once one of the most pioneering and narratively powerful series around, Silent Hill has since been passed from home to home like a troubled orphan whose houses have a weird knack of burning down, never finding the right familial fit or long-term stability to really flourish.
But here comes Uncle Hideo. He's interested in Silent Hill, and he has friends who could make it great again.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has a new trailer direct from the Tokyo Game Show. It's over five minutes long, features the first proper look at some proper actual stealth gameplay, and is otherwise containing of so much showboating badassery as to be almost nauseating. In a good way.
Watch it over the jump.
