Next year, Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot (entitled DMC) will be released, featuring a more youthful demon hunting protagonist. While he shares the same name as the Dante from the original Devil May Cry games, he's actually not technically a "younger" version of Dante. According to Dengeki PlayStation, this Dante exists in a parallel world. In other words, Dante from DMC is like the Captain Kirk from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot. Except, you know, with less lens flare...
Brick and mortar mindsets, mandatory installations, and endless updates are all components of a broken retail model, says Dino Patti, head of the Danish indie studio Playdead, maker of Limbo. Appearing at the GameCity 6 festival in Nottingham City, UK, Patti ruminated on the rise of digital distribution and the drawbacks of shipping physical discs, insisting it was time the major players started fully embracing the digital scene...
Silicon Knights, developer of X-Men: Destiny and 2002's cult GameCube title
Eternal Darkness, has laid off a large majority of staff, reports 1up.
The studio is said to have dismissed 72 employees to pare its staff down to a
“core staff” of 25. In July, Silicon Knights was staffed by 97 employees and
had plans to hire 80 more, following a CDN $3 million Ontario

Valve has announced that the beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive won't be going ahead in October as originally planned. No new start date's been given for the test, which was put on hold after professional Counter-Strike players were brought in to evaluate the title ahead of its unveiling to the great unwashed (that's you)…

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3’s expanded roster is full of wonderfully strange additions, and now one of the most confusing finally gets showcased in these new trailers. Some might have thought adding Phoenix Wright was niche, but that’s nothing compared to Rocket Raccoon. Perhaps 99% of readers haven’t heard of the space-faring animal-man, but those dissatisfied should find solace in today’s other gameplay reveal for Frank West...
Here's a new trailer for Dragon's Dogma, the new IP that Capcom is building up to add to its stable of franchises early next year. The clip demonstrates how the fantasy title bridges the gap between action and strategy, with your Pawns – AI team characters filling out your party – showing their mettle in a variety of showdowns. The non-human NPCs even narrate the clip, explaining that their role is that of ye olde cannon fodder – but they're down with that...
We last checked in behind the scenes with Telltale Games' Jurassic Park: The Game back in April, but two weeks from US release, the company's got plenty more to show off. They’ve updated their website to have more of a Jurassic Park feel, and released a new trailer for the game. From the looks of things it’s almost ready to go, with Telltale having revamped the engine and promising a more cinematic take on adventure gaming than ever – as well as a wealth of ways to die at the scaly, comically small hands of Jurassic Park's dinosaurs….
Not too many games include extended fights using only kicks and copious head-butts, nor do they involve punching blood-red gorillas. Asura’s Wrath breaks all those rules as one of the angriest, most nonsensically violent games to date. Now we finally know when consumers will get a chance to buy the nutty game (February 21), and we have a few new trailers that supply some unnecessary backstory in addition to more crazy brutality...
Above: A trailer for the Wii original
When it became clear the Wii wasn’t the graphics workhorse of its rivals, some enterprising publishers decided to try and sidestep the issue by making light gun, on-rails shooters for their franchises. Wii players were got House of the Dead: Overkill, Dead Space Extraction and the Resident Evil Chronicles games which were me with moderate success at best. Now RE is following those other M-rated shooters to the PS3 after Capcom revealed plans to port both Wii titles to the PS3 in one arcade bundle...
