  • Fans of the testosterone-fueled and haphazardly programmed Spike TV already know the name Afro Samurai, a hyper-violent anime that aired in five edited increments earlier this year. The Samuel L. Jackson-propelled anime will now become a video game that its US developers claim will be a "soulful, powerful and uncut" experience. The extensive trailer shown earlier this week revealed very little, spending most of the time focused on a pool of blood and a crimson-splattered Afro clenching his
  • Sega has announced sale prices on nine titles across PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, offering cheap retro reissues of some solid classics and newer titles alike. PSN fans get their discounts immediately, whereas XBLA subscribers have to wait a week. Knowing what happens when XBLA players get impatient (namecalling, griefing, possibly the Apocalypse), 2K's stepped in with some bargain content available right now...

  • Capcom's heard the plaintive cries of PSN+ subscribers whose lives will never be complete without the 360's Digital Collection, and has taken $37 off the price of its Super Pack to compensate...

  • If there's any game likely to remove GTA IV from the top of the German charts, it's a PC game, and Age of Conan has gone and done it.

Funcom's Hyborian Adventures went and nabbed the number one chart slot from Rockstar in both Germany and Sweden, sending GTA IV to number two in the territories.

In the UK, GTA IV still reigns supreme, with Conan sitting in the number two slot.

In Spain though, both Conan and GTA failed to

Free-to-play is the future of the games industry, says Xfire in a recent report. The F2P titles supported by micro-transactions were once thought of as a niche market, but according to the numbers, mainstream monthly fee titles like World of Warcraft, are on the decline while free games are on the rise…

Our sister magazine PSM reveals several juicy details in its latest issue. The mag expects a holiday 2007 release date, but publisher Sony Online has clarified with GamesRadar that no official date has been set yet. Developed by Sony Online Entertainment, the brains behind EverQuest Adventures on PS2, The Agency will offer "action, adventure and
  • Sony Online Entertainment is tired of seeing the same old, traditional high fantasy 'men in tights' style of MMO, and will be aiming to craft a totally different type of online experience with The Agency, SOE's recently revealed spy-'em-up MMO for PlayStation 3 and PC. At a recent SOE event, the developer revealed a wealth of new info on the intriguing spyfest. The Agency will be primarily shooter-focused, with FPS and third-person viewpoints emphasising the sort of action you see in Splinter
  • Last month Sony Online Entertainment drew back the curtain on The Agency, an espionage-themed MMOG for PC and PS3 that the developer describes as a "fast-paced online action shooter filled with espionage, intrigue and betrayal" and a "pick-up-and-play experience." We caught up with the game's lead designer, Hal Milton, to discover more... Exactly how massively multiplayer is The Agency? Hal Milton: The game world will support many, many people in a variety of public and private social and

  • Above: A screenshot from a CG teaser for The Agency that was released during E3 2009. Work on the spy-themed MMO for the PS3 and PC has been cancelled

What started off as a rumor spread by Duke Nukem creator George Broussard on March 30 turned out to be true. Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed that it has laid off 205 employees and closed three different studios in Seattle, Denver, and Tucson. As a result of the recent layoffs, The Agency will also be cancelled...

  • After listening to what was called an “exciting” earnings call by someone who’s listened to far more than I have, a few interesting facts can be gleaned from Take-Two’s second quarter earnings call to investors (and media obviously). After the publisher crowed about just how awesome Red Dead Redemption is doing in sales and critical response, they mentioned the biggest downer of the call, which was Max Payne 3 being delayed again, this time out of fiscal 2010. For non-business smarty-pants, this means sometime after October 31, 2010. Whether that results in it being a big November title or if it’s going to slip into 2011, they wouldn’t go into any more details, but don’t expect to touch this one any time soon...
