  • Another Square Enix event, and two more trailers appear - both substantially including footage we've seen before. Somehow we're not complaining yet, however, since they both look so interesting and portend very engrossing games. The Final Fantasy XIII trailer was, in fact, quite different and expanded from prior versions. The story of the game's world became clearer after we had the chance to watch it. The world of FFXIII is broken into two areas: Cocoon, what seems to be a small, closed
  • Sept 06 2007 Ok, so it's a bit of a fanboy line - but Final Fantasy VII was the game credited with single handedly popularising RPGs outside of Japan. Tomorrow will be the game's tenth anniversary, and those fanboys are still trying to find a way to resurrect Aeris. But with its past success looming over the Japanese developer, will Square Enix be able to make FFXIII do for PS3 what FFVII achieved for PSOne? FFVII was a massive step up for the series in almost every respect, weaving a
  • Today, Square Enix shockingly revealed three games bearing the title Final Fantasy XIII - two of them exclusive to the PlayStation 3. Final Fantasy XIII is an RPG… we think. Details are slimmer than slim at the moment. The trailer shown at the Square Enix press conference started with gorgeous cinematics, as you'd expect a Final Fantasy should. The cinemas showed a lone female warrior, much in the mold of the gunslinging Yuna from Final Fantasy X-2 or Ashe from the upcoming Final
  • You've trashed through Final Fantasy XII and put the PS2 to bed, and now you're looking for some FF action on your shiny new PS3, but you've got a while to wait. Square Enix had little to say about the next episode of the epic RPG series at Sony's PlayStion Premier show in Tokyo earlier, only revealing that it's a mere 13 percent into the game's development. The parallel game, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, is even further off, sitting at 1.3 percent in the making at the moment, according to
  • Ladies and gentlemen, I am about to ruin your day. Not that this staggering, eight-minute stop-motion epic from Counter 656 Productions is in anyway bad, you understand. No, the problem is that it's so good that nothing else you see, hear or experience in any capacity for the next 24 hours will measure up. Basically, write off today after you've seen this and go to bed. If your boss/teachers/parole officer complains, just show them the video. They'll understand.*

  • Look, we know a lot of people collect video games, and a lot of those people tend to think they can make a pretty good stack of cash from unloading it on eBay. But internet, we ask you, is this freakishly awesome Final Fantasy collection really worth $15,000?

Thai seller Undkodlor – whom is in good standing, feedback wise – is trying to do just that. His eBay sale includes more...

  • The latest in Square Enix's epic RPG series, Final Fantasy XIII, has not yet been secured as a PS3-exclusive. Discussing game exclusivity, Vice president of SCE Europe, Georges Fornay, told French site dna.fr: "The development cost of games has exploded, so it has become difficult to have exclusiveness, except over our own games." He goes on to reveal that exclusivity for Final Fantasy XIII is "under discussion," suggesting the deal is still up for grabs. Might we see Square opt for a cross

  • We wish we knew about this when Final Fantasy XIII released in March. Find out how to play the game in Japanese with English subtitles and menus…

  • Thursday 25 May 2006 Square Enix could well be developing more games based on the Final Fantasy XIII universe beyond the three that were announced at the recent E3 games show. The new additions are Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PlayStation 3, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII for mobile. All three are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series which has been designed from the beginning to allow for different projects to exist in the same universe. During a recent presentation
