As the first signs of fall become unavoidable, Namco Bandai has a grim 'n' chilly new prologue clip from Dark Souls to mark the lengthening nights. Just as the initial backstory teaser detailed the formation of the world as Dark Souls knows it, so this one introduces some of the storied personages of the game's mythology. Just don't come crying about how the Furtive Pygmy's easily forgotten – because it's right there, being furtive, near the end of the video...

How did Ratchet & Clank survive the great onslaught of “Plucky Hero and Pint-Sized Wiseass” platformers that marked the last generation of consoles? Three words: ridiculous freakin' weaponry. Guns bigger than the protagonists and more inventive than a Thomas Edison/Nikola Tesla brainstorming session are what's kept the series going, and Sony knows this – which is why it's released the latest in a steady stream of trailers devoted to the arsenal of the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One...

Sony has announced the launch date for the first item of DLC for DC Universe Online. September 6's “Fight for the Light” pack will add Green Lantern characters and scenarios to the game, which might seem a bit late as the Green Lantern movie came out months ago – but then nobody actually saw it, whereas fans of the Green Lantern comics are as devoted as ever, so everything's probably fine. The DLC adds Light to the available power sets – and if you know what that means, you're probably already playing the game, which means you won't pay a cent for the pack...

BANG! BANG! Brrrapp! B-B-Bang! Wooosh! Fizz! Pop! BAM! BLARRGH! Yep, it's Call of Duty multiplayer trailer time again, folks. Except this one is a bit special. This one, you see, has aspirations of narrative. Epic narrative. With epic set-pieces. And stirring music, and everything. Does it succeed? Well actually, it's the perfect trailer for Modern Warfare multiplayer in a whole lot of ways. Not necessarily always in the ways that it maybe hopes but, well, click on and I'll break it down.

Driver: San Francisco is out today in the UK, allowing gamers across the nation to leap into the bodies of random road-users across a gorgeous, sun-drenched San Francisco. Not that you'd know that from the actual launch trailer, which makes precisely 0.1 references to it during its 80 seconds. As in, it looks like Tanner has a headache. Well, come watch the trailer, then let me tell you why you should be giving this game a chance.

Here's two new character teasers for Street Fighter x Tekken, which continues to test your knowledge of the two rival franchises butting heads in the upcoming crossover. If you're unsure of who's being teased here, just scroll down to the comments section – right after the game's newly-revealed box-art – where you'll no doubt find the answers revealed by people who'll probably be beating you at the game come March next year...

The house that built L.A. Noire may soon be shuttered for good, as the Sydney developer Team Bondi has officially entered administration. Filed with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission yesterday, the drastic action has left the studio with the unenviable task of attracting a (very) last minute buyer, or else be picked apart to death in order to pay its creditors...

Sony has decided to restructure its online streaming networks. Starting with the PlayStation Network and Sony's streaming music video service Qriocity, the company will be rebranding various networks and incorporating them into one umbrella service: the Sony Entertainment Network.

“Through Sony Entertainment Network we can provide everything that Sony customers value and want in a convenient, comprehensive manner that is uniquely Sony in its presentation and delivery,” said Kazuo Hirai, chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment at an IFA press conference in Berlin. This new network will rebrand the Qriocity music- and video-on-demand services as “Music Unlimited” and “Video Unlimited” - a change that went into effect last week.

It's not hard to name the clip most people will remember as the standout trailer of the year. Dead Island's debut trailer was emotional, artful, and awesome. With the game’s September 6 launch date fast approaching, Techland isn’t shy about the pre-release hype the zombie title has enjoyed…
