EA has announced that the Need for Speed franchise has surpassed 100 million units sold life to date.

The recent release of Need for Speed Shift pushed the franchise over the 100M mark, making it the best-selling racing brand in the gaming world. The franchise has generated over $2.7 billion in life-to-date sales.

Need For Speed Undercover - New Packs (News)

Black Box, a division of Electronic Arts, has today announced the release of two new content packs for Need for Speed Undercover. These packs will be "The Challenge Series", which is free and will feature 60 events and two new game modes (you can also earn up to three new cars now), and "The premium Boss Car" pack, which will give you access to Undercover's specially boss vehicles, in exchange for $5.00 (corresponding to 400 MS points).

"The Challenge Series" and "Boss Car" packs are now available for PlayStation 3, and is going to be soon released for Xbox360 and PC systems. This new expansions are the proof that NFS fans are going to get a very good support by EA studios.

Electronic Arts is the focus of attention for both analysts and gamers as 2008 is closing. The publisher, which is already facing stiff competition from Activision Blizzard and Ubisoft, has seen worse than expected results in the last month, deciding to lay off more than 1,000 people, about 10% of its workforce, while also closing down or consolidating a lot of studios, including Need for Speed: Undercover developer Black Box. New intellectual properties like Dead Space, a space based horror shooter, and Mirror's Edge, the free running DICE developed title, have failed to make the impact that the company had hoped for.

Some analysts believe that the recent news shows how the publisher missed the start of this console cycle and needs to rethink its strategy in order to create successful titles.

Santa Claus is back and that is also a nice moment to see what the game was popular during the search for gifts goedheiligman in the Netherlands. Besides Call of Duty World at War for all platforms is also Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii and Grand Theft Auto for the PC very popular.

In the first place is Mario Kart for the Wii. While the game already 32 weeks in the charts appears knows the game with an enormous amount of Saint Nicholas to sell. The second place is occupied by Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC that has appeared on Dec. 3. The top 3 is closed with Wii Fit. With the upcoming Christmas and the many delicious eating the next time, the people seem determined to work off those extra pounds to sweat.

USA Today writes: "Nissan is taking a novel approach to rev up brand buzz for the 2009 370Z: unveiling the new sports car in a video game before the car's public rollout.

A virtual version of the 370Z has a starring role in Electronic Arts' (ERTS) new Need for Speed Undercover racing game, which hits stores on Nov. 18. The car will make its first public appearance on Nov. 19 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It will go on sale two to three months later.

"We've had cars in video games, but never before we revealed them in real life," says Nissan spokesman Robert Brown.

The Nissan and EA partnership comes as in-game ad spending swells in double-digits. Marketers spent $181 million in 2007, according to figures compiled by Veronis Suhler Stevenson. For 2008, it'll hit $268 million. "

Black Box unveiled today the online modes in Need for Speed: Undercover.

The newest mode is called "Cops and Robbers". This team-based mode pits two teams of four players against each other in the ultimate battle-royale.

Robbers must pick up the package and take it to the drop-off point while the cops attempt to prevent the delivery. Each game consists of two rounds giving the players the chance to play as cops and robbers. Up to eight players will also be able to prove their driving prowess in sprint and circuit multiplayer race modes.

Gamertell has posted an image gallery, videos and an audio file (MP3) captured from EA's Need for Speed Undercover event held August 14, 2008, in San Francisco, CA (USA).

From the article:

"[The night's event began when Scott Neilsen, director of Need for Speed Undercover, took charge of the mic to introduce the game's story, setting, and game play aspects. Following his announcements, Maggie Q was invited to share a few words with the crowd regarding her involvement with the game's development. Their words about this highly anticipated game can be listened to [on the site]."
