PS3 News | Need for Speed ProStreet
EA has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming racer, Need For Speed: Pro Street. And this one's all about the smoke effects. There's not that long to go now until the launch of EA's new Need For Speed title; it's out around October. This time round the focus is on realism, but it's not really going after the likes of GT or Forza. "We're definitely not looking to make a simulation. I think 'simulation' is a bit of a dirty word," producer John Doyle recently told us. Check out the movie ... » Read More

You know what's always been missing from Need For Speed? Smoke. Lots and lots of smoke. Fortunately, that's just what we're treated to in this fresh footage from NFS Pro Street, the semi-reinvention of the flashy racing series. We have to say we like what we see. Regular videogame smoke/steam/mist can be so, well, wispy - but this is top-grade billowing clouds of the stuff, like the spouting steam of a red-hot kettle trapped at boiling point or a smoldering tire wedged in a roasting ... » Read More

PS3 News | Need for Speed ProStreet
Our early impression of Need for Speed: ProStreet is that its more of a simulator gunning for the Forzas and GTs out there, but that's not the case says producer, John Doyle. "We're definitely not looking to make a simulation. I think 'simulation' is a bit of a dirty word," said Doyle, who made it clear ProStreet is not EA's answer to Forza at all. "There's some baggage involved in [simulations] in that it's punishing or not fun." Doyle explains that it's not a simulation that EA is aiming ... » Read More

PS3 News | Need for Speed ProStreet
Need For Speed: ProStreet is a real leap for the long-running series. Not only does it take place on race tracks (not streets), in the harsh light of day (not of neon-riven night), but it's now aiming for realism too as this new video shows. While the data taken by the team will no doubt be accurate, it's telling that Jacques Kerner, physics lead on the game, mentions the handling will be "forgiving." So while the cars will hint at realistic understeer or oversteer, you're unlikely to find ... » Read More

PS3 News | Need for Speed ProStreet
Our first question is: Where're the streets? But, wait, this is about professional street racers - not your baseball cap-wearing boy racers spinning their poor Novas around a deserted supermarket car park. Need For Speed is now a serious racer. Who saw that one coming? But it's a development we're sure to welcome. Not only does ProStreet look far better than any other NFS game, it's also promising handling and race gameplay, as it positions itself to take on the might of Gran Turismo. Just ... » Read More

PS3 - Need for Speed ProStreet - Digital Krystal in big Need For Speed break Former Big Brother contestant Krystal Forscutt has taken her first step towards international fame by being chosen as a character in a popular video game.

Forscutt is one of two females who feature as a digital version of themselves in Need For Speed's new ProStreet computer game, to be released later this year, with a potential worldwide audience of 40 million gamers.

"It's my first sort of international appearance, I guess," Forscutt told the Sunday Telegraph.

PS3 News | Need for Speed ProStreet
Street racing fans rejoice: this new trailer (below) and a batch of screenshots show some achingly fast looking, customized-to-the-wipers, adorned-in-decals automobiles from the newly announced Need for Speed ProStreet. As the title suggests, street racing will be the order of the day, while pimping your ride promises to be an even bigger factor than in previous games. Indeed, prangs, smashes and collisions will apparently all leave their mark - be it a dent, scratch or crumpled panel - so ... » Read More
