NBA 2K8

Shh! Don't tell anyone how to play this game - let 'em figure it out on their own!

Now that we've got that off our chests, we should mention something here: NBA 2K8 is pretty sweet. It feels a bit smoother on the PS3 than the 360, too, another surprise we weren't expecting. Last season's "wow"-level presentation has actually been ramped up, sporting a shiny new coat of polish and power. Players, coaches, fans, and courts virtually leap off of the screen into your living room, as you're immersed in the NBA arena experience. Not only do the cyber Yao, Kobe, and T-Mac appear as dead ringers for their real selves, their mannerisms are more pronounced than ever.

The heart of the game tends to be the Association, 2K's name for a dynasty. If you're not feeling the need to tend to each member of your organization's every personality nuance, however, a good ol' Season is at the ready - just play the games. It's a nice option to have that we don't see enough of in other sports titles. Of course, 2K's always-excellent online offerings return for another season as well, in case you're up for getting your clock cleaned for all the world to see.
