MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios has said that it wants to "dominate reaction racing for a long time".

Asked about the future of MotorStorm as part of a feature exploring the game's first year of downloadable add-ons, gameplay producer Jed Ashworth said the question "goes way beyond downloadable content".

MotorStorm, PlayStation 3's muck-'em-up, is being treated to an expansion pack this week, with two new tracks available for download on Thursday.

The first track is Diamondback Speedway and pits players against the high banking of the natural amphitheatre Yei Bichei. The second, Eagle's Nest, is a tight race set atop precarious cliff-edges.

As our Andy noted back in November, it has been a fantastic year for games, In fact, it's arguably been the best year ever. However, all that bounty has left us in a dilemma. The latest update to MotorStorm is out today.

Now included is a vehicle selection of 2D/3D in the host options as well as mirrored tracks.

The vehicle selections lets you have either the traditional 3D select screen or a 2D grid of the vehicles to choose from, which seems to speed up the selection process somewhat.

The host can also choose mirrored tracks which reverses the entire geometry set of the tracks. Where you went left you will now go right. An interesting mix, and will take some getting used too not to forget which way you're actually going!

A demo of John Woo's Stranglehold has gone live in the PS Store in this week's relatively low-key PSN update.

The demo, which 360 fans got back in August, lets you go berserk with Inspector Tequila (Chow Yun Fat) and his duel-wielded guns and blast your way through the massively destructible Hong Kong marketplace level.

There's also yet more Motorstorm goodies to download - new skins for your cars - and some game and Blu-ray trailers up for the taking.

Sony has acquired MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios along with Pursuit Force subsidiary Bigbig Studios.

And GamesIndustry.biz can reveal that co-founders of Evolution Studios, Martin Kenwright and Ian Hetherington are to leave the company, with managing director Mick Hocking taking on the role of group studio director responsible for Evolution Studios, Bigbig Studio and Sony's Liverpool Studio.

European PS3 owners will have to settle for the new MotorStorm downloadable content on PSN this week as Midway still hasn't confirmed when the Stranglehold demo will be released here.

The Coyote Revent VIP Pass pack will cost GBP 3.99 / EUR 5.80. It includes the new reversed and revamped version of the Coyote track plus two new vehicles and the Eliminator online mode.

There's also a spattering of new trailers you might want to look at, like GT5 Prologue, Lair, and Heavenly Sword - but you can find most of those over on Eurogamer TV already.

The Xbox 360 version of BioShock has topped the latest Swedish multiformat sale chart, which is otherwise dominated by PC games. The next five games on the chart are all PC titles - including the PC version of BioShock, listed at number 6. Interestingly, not a single Wii game is in the top 20 spots on the multiformat chart.
