PS3 - MotorStorm - SCEA: Killzone 2 in latter half of 2007 In a recent interview with SCEA's Peter Dille, Killzone 2 is mentioned briefly as one of Sony's upcoming titles to release in the second half of 2007.

"I think we have a good first half of the year. Games like Lair that people are really excited about. MLB is coming out and is looking great and is the best-selling sports game from a first-party studio. Motorstorm. Heavenly Sword. And don't forget you have games like Killzone in the back half of the year. We're not really saying that there is one game that consumers have to wait for. I think that the content is there now and the content is coming. It's going to be a steady stream of really great PlayStation 3 content," stated Dille.

PS3 - MotorStorm - MotorStorm for March Regular visitors to Sony's official website may have noticed that the company has pulled the highly-anticipated racer MotorStorm from its February release calendar (it has been advertised for 2/26 for weeks). Now listed for an ambiguous "spring" timeframe, the game's retail fate isn't exactly clear.

So IGN gave Sony a call...

"The team is doing some additional fine tuning and getting the online features squared away so they are taking a bit more time," said the Sony representative. "It'll come out in March, though we make the specific date public yet."

PS3 - MotorStorm - Stringer: PS3 Only Using 20-25% of its Power PS3 games like Resistance: Fall of Man and the upcoming Motorstorm already look fantastic. Sony CEO Howard Stringer (right) argues that these games are barely using 25% of the system's "bandwidth." He also thinks Sony can break even on PS3 costs at the end of this year.

MotorStorm 's multiplayer features will include at least 12-player muddy race-offs and full voice chat support when it launches on February 27th. Two-player split-screen play will not be offered, although developer Evolution may rectify this with a downloadable bolt-on sometime in the future. Evolution is hoping to boost the multiplayer roster to allow for 16-player racefests, but 12 is currently the number the developer is willing to commit to according to a recent interview with Edge Online. ... » Read More

PS3 - MotorStorm - Evolution: MotorStorm Could Get Split-Screen In an interview with Edge, MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios said they might introduce split-screen mode to their upcoming over-the-top driver if there is enough demand for it.

"MS: Rally Evolved dropped split-screen and we'll probably leave it that way for MotorStorm unless we get an overwhelming demand. Splitting all that high-def detail into two is a performance nightmare. However, the beauty of online consoles is that the game can change in the future and we can sit down with SCEE and say, 'Let's offer this for download - the fans want it'."

PS3 - MotorStorm - » CES: Motorstorm Impressions Owners of Sony's Playstation 3 console haven't gotten a lot of cool exclusive first and third party games yet (there's Resistance: Fall of Man and that's about it), but later in March the highly anticipated off-road racing game Motorstorm (from UK developer Evolution Studios) is finally scheduled to bring PS3 owners a fun and visually arresting title to their console. PS3 - MotorStorm - No 1080p for Motor Storm Between a speech by Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment America's senior VP of marketing, and a Sony representative both indicating MotorStorm would debut in the US at 60 frames per second and supporting 1080p resolutions, the Internet's been ablaze with speculation about the off-road racer. Too bad it's all for nothing, as SCEA told 1UP that MotorStorm is most definitely 30fps and remains at a HD resolution of 720p.

Crashing. We're obsessed with the crashing. Ever since we started playing PlayStation 3's MotorStorm, we've spent the majority of the time setting up ever-more dangerous track accidents for our voyeuristic pleasure - as opposed to trying to win races. Like selecting the bike, speeding it into a rock and propelling the driver into a cliff face. Or purposely holding down the boost button until it reaches boiling point and our jeep explodes in a flower of shrapnel, brake pads and burning rubber. ... » Read More

What does this mean? Paradox has released a game image (ISO) of Motorstorm (Japanese) and in the NFO file, they say the game image is playable. And that's not the only thing that's making the hacks-and-exploits community smile: earlier, Paradox also said that the first sectors from a PS3 image (sector 0 to 20) are special and may be the decryption keys for the executables...

PS3 - MotorStorm - IGN MotorStorm Import Impressions Sony Japan pushes a potentially killer title out the door too early.

"Based on its Japanese release (and I'll remind you that the version I'm writing about isn't the one that's due out in the West), Motorstorm is the most featureless racer I've ever played. There are only a couple of options, for adjusting the sound and screen and switching the motion sensor controls on and off. Missing are options for adjusting the number of opponents and track count, and such standard modes such as free run and time attack.

The game doesn't even have any form of multiplayer racing. While we knew about the lack of online in the Japanese version, there's no multiplayer what-so-ever, not even split screen!"

PS3 - MotorStorm - Motorstorm, PS3 best-seller in Japan Today Evolution Studios announced that its next-gen racing game MotorStorm is the best-selling PlayStation 3 game in Japan.

"It's a real coup for Evolution," says Martin Kenwright, CEO, Evolution Studios. "Developing MotorStorm has certainly not been easy -- but the team here really delivered. Evolution has a reputation for delivering high quality racing titles, but we really needed to up the ante with Sony's new hardware. We're delighted that the public has agreed with the press, and made MotorStorm the current Japanese number one PlayStation 3 title. We can't wait to see how it performs throughout the rest of the world."

PS3 - MotorStorm - Plans in place for PlayStation 4, says Evolution Studios boss UK developer Evolution Studios is already planning for opportunities on the PlayStation 4, according to chief executive Martin Kenwright.

With the racing specialist readying Motorstorm for launch on the PlayStation 3, Kenwright believes that it's important to think far ahead as the industry is set to change monumentally in the future.

Speaking in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, part one of which is published today, Kenwright said, "The market place will be changing beyond all recognition in the next five years. We've anticipated that.

"I know people are looking at PS3 now, and I'm not being glib, but we're actually looking at PS4. I'm thinking where will it be in five years, how will we get there? What will the marketplace be like, the games, and who'll be buying them?"

Kenwright believes companies that settle into a routine are more at risk than those who experiment with original IP - with sequels to popular games merely dividing the market.

"Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but sticking to what you're best at can be more of a risk than reinventing yourself," said the studio boss.

PS3 - MotorStorm - PS3 Confusion At Littlewoods. Mail order retailer Littlewoods has gone live with its PS3 pre-orders, though the inconsistent range of bundles listed online suggest that its launch day details are far from finalised.

Spong reports that gamers desperate to pre-order their next-gen Sony console ahead of the expected UK March launch are able to do so via Littlewoods Online right now. But the retailer's prices may cause some to think twice.

Leading the pack is a bundle featuring a 60GB PS3 console and a copy of Motorstorm priced at £549. With the RRP of the console expected to be £425, this suggests the game itself carries a price tag of over £120. Despite this, however, gamers wanting to buy the game on its own need only pay £55.

PS3 - MotorStorm - MotorStorm slips slightly Bad news for PlayStation 3 importers: MotorStorm's Japanese release date has been pushed back a week until 14th December.

The game had been due to make its first appearance in Japan on the 7th, and Sony's reportedly blamed the delay on production-related hiccups, but it doesn't sound like much to worry about.
