Analyst: PS3 price cut alongside GTA IV
PlayStation 3 price drop likely to happen early 2008 alongside MGS4 and GTA IV, says industry analyst Michael Pachter

Industry analyst Michael Pachter thinks that the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV would be a prime window for a PS3 price cut.
"We do expect Sony to be in a position to cut the price of the PS3 in early 2008, when blockbuster games Grand Theft Auto IV and PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 will launch," Pachter said in a Tuesday note to investors.
In July, Sony dropped the price of the 60GB PS3 from $599 to $499, prompting a spike in sales. That price drop will apparently be short-lived as it will disappear once the current inventory of 60GB PS3s is depleted.

The top-shelf PS3 on the market now is the 80GB model, which hit shelves Monday as a bundle with MotorStorm. That package retails for $599, and as far as we know, could be the only PS3 retail price for the holiday season.
